The quality of life determination of children with chronic disease is closely related to treatment success. Quality of life assessment studies revealed that it was not limited to the individual, the quality of life of the family members also had to be assessed. Along with the child being diagnosed with chronic illness, some changes occur in the family structure, and in family roles. Quality of life assessment studies in healthy siblings generally indicate a global influence. These children live in different senses such as closure, aggression, depression, anxiety, guilt, and isolation. Psychosocial impact (short or long-term) of healthy siblings have been associated with disease type, severity, disease duration, age, sex, and ability to cope. Further comprehensive studies among healthy siblings of children with chronic disease about quality of life are needed. Building support groups (especially family support groups) to express feelings and thoughts freely for healthy siblings can positively affect the well-being and self-esteem of the child

The importance of attachment in infant and influencing factors.

Attachment is a pattern of interaction and communication established and developed between mother and baby. For the growth of mentally and physically healthy individuals, the mother is expected to create a suitable attachment starting before the birth and to maintain it afterwards. It is also necessary for the baby to establish appropriate and safe attachment towards the mother in a similar manner. There are several factors that affect the attachment. Also, some studies show that children with attachment problems also have problems in their future lives. Healthcare professionals need to be aware of these factors and evaluate the child in terms of healthy parental communication and child development in well-child visits. As a result of these evaluations, multidisciplinary approaches to the mother-child pair can be established and the child's health is protected mentally and physically for healthy generations

Altan H, Budakoğlu Iİ, Şahin-Dağlı F, Oral R. Measuring awareness about child abuse and neglect: Validity and reliability of a newly developed tool-child abuse and neglect awareness scale. Turk J Pediatr 2018; 60: 392-399. In this study, we aimed at determining child abuse and neglect awareness of medical students attending one of the top medical schools in Turkey. The study group comprised 350 third-year medical students at Gazi University, School of Medicine, Ankara. The items in the scale were prepared by two experienced pediatricians and revised according to feedback received from two pilot studies and experts in this field of study. A 20-item `Child Abuse and Neglect Awareness` scale (CANA-S) was developed by an expert panel. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were performed. We also measured test-retest reliability and internal consistency. Conformity for factor analysis of the scale`s construct validity revealed a Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin sample concordance coefficient of 0.799. For the Bartlett Sphericity test, χ2 value was 1157.750 (p < 0.01). Based on these analyses, the scale explains 44.9% of the total variance and consists of 20 items and 4 subscales. Cronbach`s alpha value and correlation coefficient were 0.768 and r=0.204 (p=0.045), respectively. This scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool for evaluating awareness about child abuse and neglect among the medical students
