    Exploring the relationship between total vertical jump load and block performance in elite volleyball players: Position-specific analysis

    Aim: The study aimed to examine the relationship between total load jumps and negative block performance of elite male volleyball players. Method: During the research, 18 elite volleyball athletes were monitored, composed of 7 middle players, 8 spikers, and 3 opposite players. The total vertical jump and block performance of volleyball players were assessed during 23 demo matches completed in routine training sessions. The tracking of vertical jump count was facilitated by employing a vert belt, while the assessment of block performance relied on the application of Data Volley 4 Pro software. The statistical analysis of the data was conducted using the SPSS 22.0 package program for Windows. The Spearman correlation test was applied to assess the relationship between jump load and block performance. Results: A negative, weak, and significant relationship was found between vertical jump load and ineffective block (r=-,206; p<0,05) and a weak but insignificant relationship for block error (r=,100; p>0,05) for middle players. A positive, insignificant relationship was found between vertical jump load and block error (r=,007; p>0,05), and a negative, insignificant, for the ineffective block (r=-,079; p>0,05) for spikers. A positive, insignificant relationship between total jump load and ineffective block (r=,054; p>0,05), and block error (r=,027; p>0,05). Conclusion: Across all players, the findings suggest that the total jump load is not significantly related to either block errors or ineffective blocks. The positive correlations observed between jump load and both block errors and ineffective blocks are not statistically significant for the entire group

    Bu çalışmada pekin 2008 Olimpiyat oyunlarına katılan 9 erkek voleybol takımı (12X9=108 Sporcu) ve turnuvada oynanan 19 maç istatistiki bir yaklaşımla analiz edilerek galibiyete etki eden faktörlerin tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Maçlar önce Data volley 2007 Professional 3.4.0 programında analiz edilerek her takımın her bir teknikle ilgili değerlerine ulaşılmıştır. Her takımın oynadığı maçlardan elde edilen verilerinin Microsoft excel programında ortalamaları alınarak her bir değişken için her takıma ait bir değer elde edilmiştir ve grafik haline getirilmiştir. Elde edilen bu verilerin ve takımların fiziki değerlerinin SPSS 11.5 programında Spearman s rho testi kullanılarak birbirleri ile ve başarı ile olan ilişkilerine bakılmıştır. Bu çalışmada başarı ile break-point arasında yüksek seviyede negatif yönde anlamlı bir ilişki tespit edilmiştir(r= -,917**). Ayrıca bloğun, başarılı olan takımı diğerlerinden ayıran bir teknik olduğu saptanmıştır. Bulgular hücum etkinliği ile başarı arasında yüksek seviyede anlamlı bir ilişki olduğunu göstermiştir(r=,817**). Buna bağlı olarak da side-out ve başarı arasında negatif yönde anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir (r=-,720*).Hücum etkinliği ve blok etkinliğinin başarı ile yüksek seviyede ilişkisi olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ancak bulgular blok etkinliğinin hücum etkinliğinden daha fazla belirleyici bir değişken olduğunu göstermektedir. Çalışmada takımların fiziksel özellikleri ile başarı arasında anlamlı herhangi bir ilişki tespit edilememiştir. Çalışmada ayrıca takımların teknik özellikleri ile fiziksel özellikleri arasındaki ilişkiye de bakılmış ancak bu özellikler arasında anlamlı herhangi bir ilişki tespit edilememiştir.Main aim of this study was to determine the factors that affect success in volleyball through statistical analysis of 19 matches which were played in 2008 Beijing Olympics by 9 men volleyball teams (12x9=108 players) . All matches were analyzed using the Data Volley 2007 Professional 3.4.0 program to reach the values of each team for each skills. For each variable value that comes from the average of the data which is obtained from matches by each team and analyzed and graphics were obtained by the Microsoft Excel program. Using the Spearman s rho test in the SPSS 11.5 program, the relationship among the physical values and also between the physical values and success were analyzed . As a result of this study, negative and significant high level correlation(r=,917) was found between success and break-point. The block was obtained as the determinant skill that differentiates the teams in the criterion of being successful or not. The results also showed that there was a positive significant relation (r=,817) among attack efficiency and success while there was a negative significant correlation (r=,720) among side-out and success. It was found that the efficiency of the attack and the efficiency of the block had very high relations with the success. However, the results showed that the block efficiency was much more determinant factor than the attack efficiency. The relationship between the technical and physical parameters were also studied but no significant relations could be obtained among them
