    Search for a dark vector gauge boson decaying to π+π\pi^+ \pi^- using ηπ+πγ\eta \rightarrow \pi^+\pi^- \gamma decays

    Full text link
    We report a search for a dark vector gauge boson UU^\prime that couples to quarks in the decay chain D+D0π+,D0KS0η,ηUγD^{*+} \to D^0 \pi^+, D^0 \to K^0_S \eta, \eta \to U^\prime \gamma, Uπ+πU^\prime \to \pi^+ \pi^-. No signal is found and we set a mass-dependent limit on the baryonic fine structure constant of 10310210^{-3} - 10^{-2} in the UU^\prime mass range of 290 to 520 MeV/c2c^2. This analysis is based on a data sample of 976 fb1^{-1} collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ee^+e^- collider.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figure

    Search for Bs0γγB_{s}^{0}\rightarrow\gamma\gamma and a measurement of the branching fraction for Bs0ϕγB_{s}^{0}\rightarrow\phi\gamma

    Full text link
    We search for the decay Bs0γγB_{s}^{0}\rightarrow\gamma\gamma and measure the branching fraction for Bs0ϕγB_{s}^{0}\rightarrow\phi\gamma using 121.4~fb1\textrm{fb}^{-1} of data collected at the Υ(5S)\Upsilon(\mathrm{5}S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ee^{+}e^{-} collider. The Bs0ϕγB_{s}^{0}\rightarrow\phi\gamma branching fraction is measured to be (3.6±0.5(stat.)±0.3(syst.)±0.6(fs))×105(3.6 \pm 0.5 (\mathrm{stat.}) \pm 0.3 (\mathrm{syst.}) \pm 0.6 (f_{s})) \times 10^{-5}, where fsf_{s} is the fraction of Bs()Bˉs()B_{s}^{(*)}\bar{B}_{s}^{(*)} in bbˉb\bar{b} events. Our result is in good agreement with the theoretical predictions as well as with a recent measurement from LHCb. We observe no statistically significant signal for the decay Bs0γγB_{s}^{0}\rightarrow\gamma\gamma and set a 90%90\% confidence-level upper limit on its branching fraction at 3.1×106 3.1 \times 10^{-6}. This constitutes a significant improvement over the previous result.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figure

Funded by SCOAP 3 We report new measurements of the production cross sections of pairs of charged pions and kaons as a function of their fractional energies using various fractional-energy definitions. Two different fractional-energy definitions were used and compared to the conventional fractional-energy definition reported previously. The new variables aim at either identifying dihadron cross sections in terms of single-hadron fragmentation functions, or to provide a means of characterizing the transverse momentum created in the fragmentation process. The results were obtained applying the updated initial-state radiation correction used in other recent Belle publications on light-hadron production cross sections. In addition, production cross sections of single charged pions, kaons, and protons were also updated using this initial-state radiation correction. The cross sections are obtained from a 558 fb-1 data sample collected at the γ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider

    We report the analysis of the three-body e+e- => B B-bar pi, B B*-bar pi, and B* B*-bar pi processes, including the first observation of the Zb+-(10610) =>[B B*-bar+c.c.]+- and Zb+-(10650) => [B*B*-bar]+- transitions. We measure visible cross sections for the three-body production of sigma_vis(e+e- => [B B*-bar+c.c.]+-pi-+=(11.2+-1.0(stat.)+-1.2(syst.)) pb and sigma_vis(e+e- => [B*B*-bar]+-pi-+)=(5.61+-0.73(stat.)+-0.66(syst.)) pb and set a 90% C.L. upper limit of sigma_vis(e+e- => [BB-bar]+-pi-+)<2.1 pb. The results are based on a 121.4 1/fb data sample collected with the Belle detector at a center-of-mass energy near the Y(5S) peak.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figure

    Measurements of the Υ(10860)\Upsilon(10860) and Υ(11020)\Upsilon(11020) resonances via σ(e+eΥ(nS)π+π)\sigma(e^+e^-\rightarrow\Upsilon(n{\rm S})\pi^+\pi^-)

    We report new measurements of the total cross sections for e+eΥ(nS)π+πe^+e^-\to \Upsilon(n{\rm S})\pi^+\pi^- (nn = 1, 2, 3) and e+ebbˉe^+e^-\to b\bar b from a high-luminosity fine scan of the region s=10.63\sqrt{s} = 10.63-11.0511.05 GeV with the Belle detector. We observe that the Υ(nS)π+π\Upsilon(n{\rm S})\pi^+\pi^- spectra have little or no non-resonant component and extract from them the masses and widths of Υ(10860)\Upsilon(10860) and Υ(11020)\Upsilon(11020) and their relative phase. We find M10860=(10891.1±3.21.7+0.6)M_{10860}=(10891.1\pm3.2^{+0.6}_{-1.7}) MeV/c2c^2 and \Gamma_{10860}=(53.7^{+7.1}_{-5.6}\,^{+1.3}_{-5.4}) MeV and report first measurements M_{11020}=(10987.5^{+6.4}_{-2.5}\,^{+9.0}_{-2.1}) MeV/c2c^2, \Gamma_{11020}=(61^{+9}_{-19}\,^{+2}_{-20}) MeV, and \phi_{\rm 11020}-\phi_{\rm 10860} = (-1.0\pm0.4\,^{+1.4}_{-0.1}) rad.Comment: University of Cincinnati preprint UCHEP-15-01, submitted to Physical Review D - Rapid Communication

    Full text link
    Using a data sample of 980 fb1{\rm fb}^{-1} of e+ee^+e^- annihilation data taken with the Belle detector operating at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ee^+e^- collider, we report the results of a study of excited Ξc\Xi_c states that decay, via the emission of photons and/or charged pions, into Ξc0\Xi_c^0 or Ξc+\Xi_c^+ ground state charmed-strange baryons. We present new measurements of the masses of all members of the Ξc\Xi_c^{\prime}, Ξc(2645)\Xi_c(2645), Ξc(2790)\Xi_c(2790), Ξc(2815)\Xi_c(2815), and Ξc(2980)\Xi_c(2980) isodoublets, measurements of the intrinsic widths of those that decay strongly, and evidence of previously unknown transitions.Comment: Submitted to PR

    Using a sample of 771.6×106771.6 \times 10^{6} Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) decays collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB e+ee^+e^- collider, we observe for the first time the transition Υ(4S)ηhb(1P)\Upsilon(4S) \to \eta h_b(1P) with the branching fraction B[Υ(4S)ηhb(1P)]=(2.18±0.11±0.18)×103{\cal B}[\Upsilon(4S) \to \eta h_b(1P)]= (2.18 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.18) \times 10^{-3} and we measure the hb(1P)h_b(1P) mass Mhb(1P)=(9899.3±0.4±1.0)M_{h_{b}(1P)} = (9899.3 \pm 0.4 \pm 1.0) MeV/c2c^{2}, corresponding to the hyperfine splitting ΔMHF(1P)=(0.6±0.4±1.0)\Delta M_{\mathrm HF}(1P) = (0.6 \pm 0.4 \pm 1.0) MeV/c2c^{2}.     Measurement of the Branching Fraction of the Decay B+π+π+ν\boldsymbol{B^{+}\to\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\ell^{+}\nu_\ell} in Fully Reconstructed Events at Belle

    Get PDF
    We present an analysis of the exclusive B+π+π+νB^{+}\to\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\ell^{+}\nu_{\ell} decay, where \ell represents an electron or a muon, with the assumption of charge-conjugation symmetry and lepton universality. The analysis uses the full Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) data sample collected by the Belle detector, corresponding to 711 fb1^{-1} of integrated luminosity. We select the events by fully reconstructing one BB meson in hadronic decay modes, subsequently determining the properties of the other BB meson. We extract the signal yields using a binned maximum-likelihood fit to the missing-mass squared distribution in bins of the invariant mass of the two pions or the momentum transfer squared. We measure a total branching fraction of B(B+π+π+ν)=[22.71.6+1.9(stat)±3.5(syst)]×105{{\cal B}(B^{+}\to \pi^{+}\pi^{-}\ell^{+}\nu_{\ell})= [22.7 ^{+1.9}_{-1.6} (\mathrm{stat}) \pm 3.5(\mathrm{syst}) ]\times 10^{-5}}, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. This result is the first reported measurement of this decay.Comment: 23 pages, 19 figure

    Observation of X(3872)X(3872) in BX(3872)KπB \to X(3872) K\pi decays

    We report the first observation of B0X(3872)(K+π)B^0 \to X(3872) (K^{+}\pi^{-}) and evidence for B+X(3872)(K0π+)B^+ \to X(3872) (K^{0}\pi^{+}). We measure the product of branching fractions for the former to be {\cal B}(B^0 \to X(3872) (K^+ \pi^-)) \times {\cal B}(X(3872) \to J/\psi \pi^+ \pi^-) = (7.9 \pm 1.3(\mbox{stat.})\pm 0.4(\mbox{syst.})) \times 10^{-6} and find that B0X(3872)K(892)0B^{0}\to X(3872) K^{*}(892)^{0} does not dominate the B0X(3872)K+πB^{0}\to X(3872)K^{+}\pi^{-} decay mode. We also measure {\cal B}(B^+ \to X(3872) (K^0 \pi^+)) \times {\cal B}(X(3872) \to J/\psi \pi^+ \pi^-) = (10.6 \pm 3.0(\mbox{stat.}) \pm 0.9(\mbox{syst.})) \times 10^{-6}. This study is based on the full data sample of 711~fb1^{-1} (772×106BBˉ772\times 10^6 B\bar B pairs) collected at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB collider.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figure

    Studies of charmed strange baryons in the ΛD\Lambda D final state at Belle

    Full text link
    We report the discovery of Ξc(3055)0\Xi_{c}(3055)^{0}, observed by its decay into the final state ΛD0\Lambda D^{0}, and present the first observation and evidence of the decays of Ξc(3055)+\Xi_c(3055)^{+} and Ξc(3080)+\Xi_c(3080)^{+} into ΛD+\Lambda D^{+}. We also perform a combined analysis of the ΛD+\Lambda D^{+} with the Σc++K\Sigma_{c}^{++}K^{-} and Σc++K\Sigma_{c}^{\ast ++}K^{-} decay modes to measure the ratios of branching fractions, masses and widths with improved accuracy. We measure the ratios of branching fractions B(Ξc(3055)+ΛD+)/B(Ξc(3055)+Σc++K)=5.09±1.01±0.76{\cal B}(\Xi_{c}(3055)^{+} \to \Lambda D^{+})/{\cal B}(\Xi_{c}(3055)^{+} \to \Sigma_{c}^{++}K^{-})=5.09\pm1.01\pm0.76, B(Ξc(3080)+ΛD+)/B(Ξc(3080)+Σc++K)=1.29±0.30±0.15{\cal B}(\Xi_{c}(3080)^{+} \to \Lambda D^{+})/{\cal B}(\Xi_{c}(3080)^{+} \to \Sigma_{c}^{++}K^{-})=1.29\pm0.30\pm0.15, and B(Ξc(3080)+Σc++K)/B(Ξc(3080)+Σc++K)=1.07±0.27±0.01{\cal B}(\Xi_{c}(3080)^{+} \to \Sigma_{c}^{\ast ++}K^{-})/{\cal B}(\Xi_{c}(3080)^{+} \to \Sigma_{c}^{++}K^{-})=1.07\pm0.27\pm0.01, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic.
