Paget's disease of bone : a case report and review of the literature

Paget hastalığı kemik ağrısı, deformitesi, patolojik kırıklar, nörolojik bozukluklar ve osteosarkomun artmış insidansı ile karakterize, ileri yaş grubunda sık görülen bir hastalıktır. Hastalık patogenezinde genetik faktörler rol oynar, fakat hastalığın moleküler temeli hala açık değildir. Histopatolojik olarak artmış osteoklast formasyonu ve kemik yıkımını takip eden aşırı yeni kemik oluşumu ile karakterizedir. Tanı, sıklıkla radyografi çekilirken rastlantısal bir bulgu olarak veya beklenmeyen serum alkalen fosfataz yüksekliği ile konur. Paget hastalığı, hastalarda hem fonksiyonu hem de mobiliteyi azaltır ve psikolojik problemlerle birlikte olabilir, böylece yaşam kalitesini belirgin olarak bozabilir. Burada Paget hastalığı tanısı konulan bir olgu sunulmuş ve ileri yaş grubunun önemli bir hastalığı olması nedeniyle, hastalığın özellikleri tartışılmıştır.Paget's disease of bone is a common condition characterized by bone pain, deformity, pathological fracture, neurologic disorders and an increased incidence of osteosarcoma in the elderly people. Genetic factors play a role in the pathogenesis of Paget's disease but the molecular basis of the disease remains unclear. Histopathologically the disease is characterized by markedly increased osteoclast formation and bone resorption followed by excessive new bone formation. Frequently the diagnosis is made as an incidental finding on X-ray, or it is considered because of an unexpected elevation in serum alkaline phosphatase. Paget's disease can reduce both function and mobility, and can be associated with psychological problems. Therefore, quality of life may be reduced in patients with Paget's disease. We report a patient with Paget's disease and discuss features of this disorder which is of importance in the elderly population

Asymptomatic lung ınvolvement ın eosinophilic granuloma ( case report )

Eozinofilik granulom nadir görülen Langerhans hücreli histiositozdur. Akciğer, lenf bezleri, kemik, göz, deri ve hipotalamus etkilenebilir. Akciğer tutulumu olan hastaların %20 'si asemptomatiktir. Bu yazıda başağrısı ile başvuran eozinofilik granulomlu bir hastada asemptomatik akciğer tutulumu sunulmaktadır.Eosinophilic granuloma is rarely seen form of Langerhans cell histicytosis. Lungs, lymph nodes, bones, eyes and hypothalamus may be involved. 20% of the patients with lung involvement are asymptomatic. In this article, asymptomatic lung involvement in a patient with eosinophilic granuloma who was admitted with headache is presented
