Power control of single switch inverter with deleting some control pulses

    No full text
Single switch power converters are used in many power electronics applications because of their simplicity, cheapness and high efficiency. In this study an induction heater for home cooking applications is carried out with voltage fed single switch series resonant inverter (SRI). Power control of heater is provided with deleting some on pulses of semiconductor switch instead of turn on time control. In this way power control is achieved in a more extensive range. Experimental results of the heating system for different pulse sequences at 62.5kHz switching frequency are compared with computer simulation results

Current fed self oscillating electronic ballast design with push pull inverter

    No full text
Electronic ballasts are commonly used due to several advantages; among electronic ballasts, self oscillating electronic ballasts are not only simple and cheap but also have high efficiency because of zero voltage switching technique. Current and voltage fed topologies are commonly used in electronic ballasts. When both topologies are compared, current fed has better start up transient response. In this study, current fed push pull inverter circuit is designed for three 36W T8 fluorescent lamps. In the design, push pull transformer is wounded on a partition bobbin. Although it has the advantages of easy and reliable production for industrial automation and lowering the cost of the circuit, the coupling between the coils is considerably weak. Because of this, the weak coupling is taken into account in the design. The design has agreement with experimental and simulation results

Nuclear energy consumption, nuclear fusion reactors and environmental quality: The case of G7 countries

    No full text
Global climate change brings environmental quality sensitivity, especially in developed countries. Developed countries use non-renewable energy sources intensively both in their own countries and in other countries, they make productions that cause an enormous rate of increase in CO2 emissions and unsustainable environmental costs. This has increased the interest in environmentally friendly alternative energy sources. The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of nuclear energy consumption and technological innovation on environmental quality in G7 countries using annual data over the period 1970–2015. The Panel Threshold Regression Model was used for the analysis. Empirical findings have indicated that the relationship between nuclear energy consumption and carbon emissions differs according to innovation for nuclear power plants. It was also concluded that nuclear energy consumption reduces carbon emissions more after a certain level of innovation. This result shows that the increase in innovative technologies for nuclear power plants not only increases energy efficiency but also contributes positively to environmental quality. © 20212-s2.0-8511772080

The IL-8 Gene Polymorphisms in Behçet's Disease Observed in Denizli Province of Turkey.

    No full text
Behçet's disease is a multisystemic inflammatory disorder as a triad of symptoms including recurrent oral and genital aphthous ulceration and uveitis with unknown pathogenesis. IL-8, a proinflammatory cytokine, has been found increased in the active stage of BD. DNA samples were obtained from 88 patients with BD and 112 healthy control subjects in Denizli province of Turkey. All genotyping experiments of SNPs in IL-8 gene were performed using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment polymorphism. We found that IL-8 -845 T > C and -738 T > A sites are non-polymorphic. There were no differences in the polymorphisms of IL-8 +396 G/T, +781 C/T, and +1633 C/T sites except IL-8 -251 T > A in between patients and healthy controls. Analysis of IL-8 polymorphisms indicates that the distribution of frequencies seems to be associated with -251 T > A and gender, -251 T > A and erythema nodosum, -251 T > A and ocular involvement, +781 C > T and erythema nodosum, +396 G > T and pathergy positivity, and +1633 C > T and papulopustular lesion. We demonstrated that the frequencies of IL-8 haplotypes were significantly different with BD patients than control group. We found that the distribution of IL-8 haplotypes was significantly different with genital ulcers, ocular involvement, positive pathergy test, erythema nodosum, papulopustular lesions, and arthritis with BD patients than healthy control individuals. Our study suggests that IL-8 gene polymorphisms may affect susceptibility to BD and increase the risk of developing disease. In order to confirm and assess the association of IL-8 and other cytokine gene polymorphisms in the pathophysiology of BD, large cohort studies are needed
