Three room spaces are defined in the martyrium. Riverbed stones and calcareous blocks were used in the architecture, although its plan is incomplete. The mosaics found in the rooms are composed of three panels. In the Hatay region, mosaics found in church, basilica or martyrium contexts are generally depicting scenes of heaven as well as religious events, portraits, animals, plants and geometric motifs. Hatay mosaics share similarities and differences in composition to İncirli Village Martyrium Mosaics. When the subjects, composition, figures, motifs and borders of the mosaic floors made in civil and religious building in Hatay are examined, the artistic process that started in the 2nd century AD is expressed in the other Eastern Roman mosaics in Antakya, as well as in the İncirli Village Martyrium Mosaics. It is traced back to the 6th century AD

Generation of feasible deployment configuration alternatives for Data Distribution Service based systems

Data distribution service (DDS) has been defined by the OMG to provide a standard data-centric publish-subscribe programming model and specification for distributed systems. DDS has been applied for the development of high performance distributed systems such as in the defense, finance, automotive, and simulation domains. To support the analysis and design of a DDS-based distributed system, the OMG has proposed the DDS UML Profile. A DDS-based system usually consists of multiple participant applications each of which has different responsibilities in the system. These participants can be allocated in different ways to the available resources, which leads to different configuration alternatives. Usually, each configuration alternative will perform differently with respect to the execution and communication cost of the overall system. In general, the deployment configuration is selected manually based on expert knowledge. This approach is suitable for small to medium scale applications but for larger applications this is not tractable. In this paper, we provide a systematic approach for deriving feasible deployment alternatives based on the application design and the available physical resources. The application design includes the design for DDS topics, publishers and subscribers. For supporting the application design, we propose a DDS UML profile. Based on the application design and the physical resources, the feasible deployment alternatives can be algorithmically derived and automatically generated using the developed tools. We illustrate the approach for deriving feasible deployment alternatives of smart city parking system

Innovation is utmost factor of organizational success during the period of unbelievable global competition. Innovation is generally triggered by leader’s strategic behaviors and leadership styles are decisive in organizations’ vision and mission nowadays. Employee’s innovation perception and also innovative behavior have an important role at the execution process of innovation. From this aspect, determination of factors which effect innovative behavior is an important research area. The paper focus on the determination of leader-member exchange quality’s (LMX) mediator role at the effects of transformational and contingent reward leadership’s style, at private and public sector, to employee’s innovative behaviors

The effects of the addition of baker's yeast on the functional properties and quality of tarhana, a traditional fermented food

    Get PDF
As a fermented product, tarhana is the dry form of yogurt-cereal mixture and represents an important part of the diets of many people in different countries including Turkey. In the present study, the effects of the addition of baker's yeast on the quality and functional properties of tarhana were investigated. Tarhana was produced under laboratory conditions (uncontrolled and controlled conditions) using two formulas. Some physicochemical, functional, and sensory properties of the samples were analysed. An increase was found in the acidity value of all samples during the fermentation period. The addition of baker's yeast affected the functional properties (water absorption capacity, foaming capacity, foaming stability, emulsifying activity) of the samples (P < 0.05). The tarhana samples produced by the addition of yeast and under controlled conditions had shorter fermentation times and better sensory properties. This research suggests that the addition of baker's yeast and the employment of controlled conditions can be recommended in the production of the commercial type of tarhana

An investigation of export–import ratios in Turkey using spline regression models

    Get PDF
This paper examines the use of spline functions in linear, squared, and cubic spline regression models and exhibits the estimation of spline parameters from data by ordinary least squares. Determination of the number and the location of knots is central to spline regression. In this paper, we initially propose a method based on the coefficient of determination R2 related to the estimation of knots in spline regression. This proposed method as applied to export–import ratio distributions in Turkey for the years 1923–2010 determines the knots, and linear, quadratic, and cubic spline regression models are established accordingly. Results reveal that spline regression models offer better results than polynomial regression models, and that the quadratic spline regression model is the best explanatory model for export–import ratio distributions in the smoothest spline regression models

Usefulness of Serum D-Dimer Level in Acute Renal Infarction

    Get PDF
Acute renal infarction (ARI) is a rarely encountered disease in emergency services, but is of particular importance owing to higher mortality and morbidity rates in the absence of early diagnosis and intervention. On the other hand, urolithiasis cases are admitted to emergency departments very frequently with the complaint of pain. ARI with non-specific symptoms or urolithiasis-like pain would increase the likelihood of being omitted in crowded emergency rooms. Previous studies reported supportive diagnostic role in ARI of increased serum lactate dehydrogenase and C-reactive protein levels and white blood cell count in the presence of hematuria; however, none mentioned D-dimer as a likely diagnostic or prognostic marker. We hereby present 2 case reports where a contrast-enhanced tomographic scan performed on the basis of suspicions raised by high serum D-dimer levels which established the definitive diagnosis ARI. Our aim was to emphasize that serum D-dimer may be used as a criterion for supporting or excluding the thromboembolic events, such as renal and mesenteric infarction
