Elastic-plastic Behaviour of Perforated Aluminium under Tension and Compression

    Get PDF
The elastic-plastic behaviour of perforated aluminium sheets is examined in relation to the relative density.A compression device, which permits a changeable support of the specimens, was designed for that purpose. The gained results are discussed in the context of a modified Voigt-Reuss mixing rule and are compared with results from tensile tests. The experiments are simulated by means offinite element calculations, expanded on smaller relative densities and the influence of the boundary conditions at the ends of the specimens on the results is examined. Finally, the initial yielding on the microscale is examined and compared to macroscopically determined values

Business analytics in industry 4.0: a systematic review

Recently, the term “Industry 4.0” has emerged to characterize several Information Technology and Communication (ICT) adoptions in production processes (e.g., Internet-of-Things, implementation of digital production support information technologies). Business Analytics is often used within the Industry 4.0, thus incorporating its data intelligence (e.g., statistical analysis, predictive modelling, optimization) expert system component. In this paper, we perform a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) on the usage of Business Analytics within the Industry 4.0 concept, covering a selection of 169 papers obtained from six major scientific publication sources from 2010 to March 2020. The selected papers were first classified in three major types, namely, Practical Application, Reviews and Framework Proposal. Then, we analysed with more detail the practical application studies which were further divided into three main categories of the Gartner analytical maturity model, Descriptive Analytics, Predictive Analytics and Prescriptive Analytics. In particular, we characterized the distinct analytics studies in terms of the industry application and data context used, impact (in terms of their Technology Readiness Level) and selected data modelling method. Our SLR analysis provides a mapping of how data-based Industry 4.0 expert systems are currently used, disclosing also research gaps and future research opportunities. The work of P. a new workshop for medical teachers

    No full text
Practicals with a high number of participating students represent a current format in medical education. They play an important role as a bridge between acquired knowledge and practical skills. For medical teachers this means an enormous challenge in terms of organization, logistics and didactics, and there is little help to be found in literature. Because of a specific demand from our Medical Faculty we developed a new 1-day workshop entitled "Arranging practicals for large classes efficiently". It is based upon 5 modules: 1. Organizational and structural models 2. Formulating goals and objectives 3. Didactics of practicals for large classes 4. Learning styles 5. Motivating the students. The workshop was performed with 11 participants for the first time in March 2005. Because of the positive feedback we will offer it regularly in the future.

The new German licensure law as a basis for competency-based curricula

    No full text
Background: Competency-based curricula define their educational goals according to profession-specific roles and competencies. Thus, this type of curricula is outcome-oriented, in contrast to the traditional German curricula, which are mainly procedure-oriented. This study investigates the new licensure legislation in Germany, mandatory for all medical faculties, to see if it allows the development of competency-based curricula. Methods: For the first step we clustered all demands to roles. In step two we transformed the procedure-oriented demands into outcome-oriented competencies, according to the 6 roles found, pursuing strictly the wording of the law. Results: Although the principal goals in the new German licensure law are outcome-oriented, namely three abilities of a certified physician, still the majority of requirements and demands remain procedure-oriented. Clustering resulted in the following six roles: medical expert, health advocate, teamworker, manager, representative of the medical profession and, life-long learner. The relevant competencies for the six roles, we could derive from the standards set by the law. Conclusion: We were able to show that the new German licensure order comprises a useful framework for the development of outcome-oriented, competency-based curricula.
