Unquenching the Schwinger Model (revised)
We study the quenched and unquenched lattice Schwinger model with Wilson
fermions. The lowest non-trivial order of the systematic expansion recently
proposed by Sexton and Weingarten is shown to allow good estimates of long
distance physics from quenched configurations. Results for the static potential
and the lowest bound state mass are presented.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures, self-unpacking uuencoded compressed postscript

Subsidiarity and Federalism: The Relationship Between Law Schools and Their Universities
In his book on the history of Fordham University School of Law, Bob Kaczorowski does not take an explicit position on how decision-making authority on matters ranging from resource utilization to curriculum development should be allocated between a law school and its university. Rather, he offers in detail a story and extensive evidence that tends to reflect and support the view traditionally taken by the American Bar Association (ABA), the vast majority of law faculty, and most law school deans on the subject: listen, you folks over there at the universityâwe know what we are doing, so just leave us alone to do it. And, most of all, do not steal our resources for your pet projects. Kaczorowskiâs is an outstanding book worthy of consideration by anyone concerned with university-law school relations and law school financing. In this regard, I should add, the traditional view of law school advocates and constituents on how their schools should be treated is virtually identical to the positions taken by their colleagues in other disciplinary homes within the university. However, the pervasiveness of a viewpoint is not proof of its validity. I disagree in important respects with the traditional view held within schools on the relationship of those schools to their university, and I want to offer in these pages a different perspective on how to think about the issue
Creeping decay: cult soundtracks, residual media, and digital technologies
This paper explores the recent resurgence in the collecting of cult film soundtracks, in particular films stemming from the late 1960s to the early 1980s and often linked to horror and other modes of exploitation cinema. I consider this phenomenon as an important component of cult film fandom, but one which has largely been overlooked in cult cinema research because it is often considered as belonging to popular music, as opposed to film, research. As films can become cultified in many different ways and across different media, I look into how areas of music culture can both be inspired by, as well as influence, aspects of film culture. The paper also addresses the importance of âresidualâ technologies within cult film/music cultures, noting in particular the preference for vinyl records as well as VHS tapes in certain cult fan communities, and explores the appeal that such âold mediaâ retain within an increasingly digital mediascape
