Modified Friedmann equations from fractional entropy

Based on the fractional black hole entropy [Eur. Phys. J. C (2021) 81:632], we derive the modified Friedmann equations from two different frameworks. First, we consider the modifications of Friedmann equations from the first law of thermodynamics at the apparent horizon. We show that the generalized second law (GSL) of thermodynamics always holds in a region bounded by the apparent horizon. Then, we obtain Friedmann equations from Verlinde's entropic gravity framework. We also compute the fractional corrections to deceleration parameter $q$ in flat case $k=0$ for both frameworks. Furthermore, we consider the time to reach the initial singularity for the two frameworks. The results indicate that the initial singularity is accessible for both frameworks. However, fractional effects may provide a constraint on the equation of state parameter in the entropic gravity scenario since the time is imaginary for $-2/3\alpha<\omega<-1/3$.Comment: 16 pages, 2 figures. A Journey to Ancient Sumer: The Reconstruction of the Past in Jennifer J. Garrity’s Historical Children’s Novel Secret of the Scribe

This paper argues that Jennifer J. Garrity’s historical children’s novel Secret of the Scribe (2008) with its fictional stereotyping of Ancient Sumer and its polytheistic religion undercuts the possibility of the novel to critically engage its child readers with Sumerian history and culture. By selecting a young female slave as the historical personage of her novel and endowing her with contemporary qualities in tandem with individualism and the ethos of the marketplace, Garrity draws a very modern individual atypical of her time. While, the reader, on one hand, looks back critically on Sumerians’ developed sense of collectivist religion, interpreting it as a threat to self-determination and personal autonomy, on the other hand, s/he appreciates the Sumerians for being the first ancient civilization that bears the imprints of a capitalist market society. The use of history enters the text, in so far as it creates a safe zone for fashioning, perpetuating and justifying the norms and values of the present and reassuring the future

Perceptions of social norms around healthy and environmentally-friendly food choices: Linking the role of referent groups to behavior

Referent groups can moderate the perception of social norms and individuals’ likelihood to model these norms in food choice contexts, including vegetable intake and reduced meat consumption. The present study investigated whether having a close vs. a distant social group as the referent changed perceptions of social norms around making healthy and eco-friendly food choices. It also assessed whether these changes were associated with a difference in the health and environmental impacts of food choice in a virtual grocery shopping task. A nationally representative sample of UK adults (N = 2,488) reported their perceptions of making healthy and eco-friendly food choices being the norm among people they share meals with (close referent group) and most people in the UK (distant referent group). The former was more commonly perceived to be making both healthy (Z = −12.0, p  0.05, 95% CIs: −1.12, 0.25) and health (β = −0.06, p > 0.05, 95% CIs: −0.37, 0.25) impacts. Framing social norms around making healthy and eco-friendly food choices to refer to a close referent group may change their perceptions and ability to encourage sustainable and healthy food purchasing

Ege Denizi’nde (Marmaris, Türkiye) Lesepsiyen Pomadasys stridens (Haemulidae) Balığının Varlığı Üzerine

This paper reports the presence of new striped piggy, Pomadasys stridens specimens in the Turkish Aegean Sea. Four specimens, measuring between 136 and 140 mm in TL, were captured off Marmaris coast, Muğla in southern Aegean Sea on 16 March 2018. This short paper presents second record of the fish in the Aegean Sea that indicates beginning of its established population in the area.Bu makale, Ege Denizi’nde yeni Pomadasys stridens bireylerinin bulunuşunu rapor etmektedir. 16 Mart 2018 tarihinde 136 ve 140 mm arasında total boyda ölçülen dört birey güney Ege Denizi’nde Marmaris kıyıları (Muğla) açığından yakalanmıştır. Bu kısa makale, Ege Denizi’nde bunların populasyonunun yerleşmeye başladığını gösteren ikinci kaydını sunmaktadır

Saroz Körfezi ve Gökçeada (Kuzey Ege Denizi) Balık Tür Çeşitliliği Üzerine Bir Değerlendirme

In this review, updated check-list of marine fish in the Bay of Saroz, northern Aegean Sea was presented. From the results of relevant studies by the coastal fisheries and trawls in Saroz Bay, we therefore determined totally 280 fish species, belonging to 96 families. Coastal fisheries in Saroz Bay consist of small scale such as gillnet, trammel net, longline and handline fisheries, while the large scale fisheries is very limited.Bu derlemede, Saroz Körfezi’ndeki (Kuzey Ege Denizi) deniz balıklarının güncellenmiş tür çeşitliliği sunulmuştur. Saroz Körfezi’nde gerçekleştirilen kıyı balıkçılığı ve trol çalışmalarından toplanan sonuçlardan 96 familyaya ait 280 balık türü tespit edilmiştir. Saroz Körfezi’ndeki balıkçılık uzatma ağları, paraketa ve olta gibi küçük ölçekli balıkçılıktan oluşurken, büyük ölçekli balıkçılık oldukça sınırlıdır
