THE VIEW OF NURSING STUDENTS ON THE TRAINING OF NURSE-LEADERS

La finalidad del estudio fue conocer la visión de los docentes de una facultad de enfermería acerca de la formación de enfermeros-líderes. Es una investigación de abordaje cualitativo del tipo descriptivo y exploratorio, en la cual participaron 9 docentes de una universidad pública federal. Las informaciones fueron obtenidas en el mes de abril de 2012 por medio de entrevistas semiestructuradas, y analizadas por medio del Análisis Temático, resultando en dos temas: Visión de los docentes sobre liderazgo y Estrategias que ayudan en la formación de enfermeros-líderes. Los docentes y la literatura enfatizan la relevancia del abordaje del tema liderazgo en las asignaturas, de forma transversal y desde los semestres iniciales de la formación académica, y apuntan estrategias para que eso ocurra.The aim was to investigate the view of professor’s team about the training of nurse-leaders. This research has a qualitative approach and is descriptive and exploratory: 9 students participated, from a public federal university. The information was obtained in April 2012 through semi-structured interviews, and analyzed by thematic analysis, from which two themes emerged: View of students on leadership and Strategies which help in the training of nurse-leaders. The students and the literature emphasize the relevancy of addressing the theme of leadership in the courses, in a cross-sectional way and from the first semesters of academic training, and indicate strategies such that this may occur.Objetivou-se conhecer a visão dos docentes de uma faculdade de Enfermagem sobre a formação de enfermeiros-líderes. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa do tipo descritiva e exploratória, na qual participaram 9 docentes de uma universidade pública federal. NURSES’ UNDERSTANDING OF THE EXERCISING OF LEADERSHIP IN THE HOSPITAL ENVIRONMENT

Objetivou-se conhecer a compreensão dos enfermeiros sobre liderança, bem como as estratégias utilizadas que facilitam seu exercício no ambiente hospitalar. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa do tipo descritiva, na qual foi usado o estudo de caso como estratégia de investigação. Participaram 25 enfermeiros que trabalham em hospitais de Florianópolis-SC-Brasil. As informações foram obtidas de maio a dezembro de 2010, por meio de entrevistas semiestruturada e oficinas dialógicas, e analisadas por meio da Análise Temática, emergindo dois temas: Compreensão dos enfermeiros sobre liderança e Estratégias que facilitam o exercício da liderança. Os resultados sinalizam que a liderança é uma habilidade relacional que contribui para o gerenciamento do cuidado, da equipe e do ambiente hospitalar, sendo potencializada pelo diálogo enquanto principal estratégia que facilita e fortalece o exercício da liderança do enfermeiro.This study aimed to investigate nurses’ understanding regarding leadership, as well as the strategies used for facilitating its exercising in the hospital environment. It is research with a qualitative approach of the descriptive type, in which the case study was used as the investigative strategy. The participants were 25 nurses who worked in hospitals in Florianópolis, in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. The information were obtained between May and December 2010, through semi-structured interviews and dialogic workshops, and were analyzed using Thematic Analysis, with two themes emerging: ‘The nurses’ understanding regarding leadership’, and ‘Strategies which facilitate the exercising of leadership’. The results indicate that leadership is a relational skill which contributes to the management of the care, the team, and the hospital environment, being strengthened by dialogue as the main strategy facilitating and strengthening the exercising of the nurse’s leadership.Se objetivó conocer la comprensión de los enfermeros sobre liderazgo, así como las estrategias utilizadas que facilitan su ejercicio en el ambiente hospitalar. Se trata de una investigación de abordaje cualitativo del tipo descriptivo, en la cual fue usado el estudio de caso como estrategia de investigación. Participaron 25 enfermeros que trabajan en hospitales de Florianópolis, SC, Brasil. Las informaciones fueron obtenidas de mayo a diciembre de 2010, por medio de entrevistas semiestructuradas y oficinas dialógicas, y analizadas por medio del Análisis Temático, resultando en dos temas: Comprensión de los enfermeros sobre liderazgo y Estrategias que facilitan el ejercicio de liderazgo. Understanding of students about the teaching of leadership on nursing degree

The accelerated and successive changes on the nursing instruction have been demanding more abilities and skills from nurses, as the exercise of leadership. Thereby, the present study has the objective to know the student understanding about the teaching of leadership on nursing degree school. This is a research of qualitative and descriptive approach, where 20 students from the nursing school of Universidade Federal de Pelotas participated. The information was obtained during August to October of 2015. To the data collect semi-structured interviews were realized. The data were treated by the Thematic Analysis of Minayo (2010). The result pointed that students consider the leadership as an inherent form of the nurse work, concluding that it is up to the teachers facilitate the development of that professional skill. On the instruction of nursing graduation, also emerge personal characteristics that define the leader-nurse, as: the responsibility, the commitment, the motivation and the cheer. The referred strategies on the teaching of leadership on nursing graduation were the autonomy and dialogue, which are stimulated by teachers so that students may develop their abilities and skills to exercise leadership and improve the perception of teaching and learning. The students understand the leadership as a program content that must be mentioned since the initials semesters to a good development. About the potential, students mentioned that in the new curriculum the teaching of leadership enable its insertion gradually over the semesters. About the fragility, points that the instruction still is linked to technicality, and difficult to insert the leadership on practical experiences to formation of a leader-nurse.Sem bolsaAs aceleradas e sucessivas mudanças no ensino da enfermagem têm exigido cada vez mais, habilidades e competências dos enfermeiros, como o exercício da liderança. Com isso o presente estudo traz como objetivo de conhecer o entendimento do discente sobre o ensino da liderança na graduação em enfermagem. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa do tipo descritiva, no qual participaram 20 discentes da Faculdade de Enfermagem da Universidade Federal de Pelotas. As informações foram obtidas no período de agosto a outubro de 2015. Para coleta dos dados realizou-se entrevistas semi-estruturada. Os dados foram tratados por meio da Análise Temática de Minayo (2010). Os resultados apontaram que os discentes avaliam a liderança de forma inerente ao trabalho do enfermeiro, concluindo que cabe aos docentes facilitar o desenvolvimento desta competência profissional. No ensino da graduação em enfermagem, também emergiram características pessoais que definem o enfermeiro-líder, tais como: a responsabilidade, o comprometimento, a motivação e o bom humor. As estratégias referenciadas no ensino da liderança na graduação em enfermagem foram a autonomia e o diálogo que são estimulados pelos docentes para que os discentes possam desenvolver suas habilidades e competências para exercer a liderança e aprimorar a percepção do ensino-aprendizado. Os discentes entendem a liderança como um conteúdo programático que deve ser mencionado desde os semestres iniciais para um bom desenvolvimento. Sobre as potencialidades os discentes mencionam que no novo currículo o ensino da liderança possibilita a inserção no mesmo de forma gradativa ao longo dos semestres. Quanto as fragilidades evidencia-se o ensino ainda atrelado ao tecnicismo e dificuldades de inserção da liderança nas vivências práticas para formação de enfermeiro-líder
