Purpose: The aim of this research paper is focusing on strategic management approach toward balanced regional economic development (RED) in transition countries. The specific aim of the research is to develop an strategic model for regional economic development in Kosovo that will positively impact and support the business environment as well impacting the overall development of the country through coordinated project management and synergy creation among the communities, local authorities and businesses. Design/Methodology/Approach: The article used a mixed-methodological approach including both qualitative and quantitative data collection and appraisal, which included desk review covering existing literature at national and international level, semi-structured interviews with key, group discussions, relevant reports and other related documents. Findings: Policies and strategies actually leave a gap at the regional level. Most of regions and municipalities lack the capacities to create an effective environment for private sector development and job creation for all communities. There is some dissatisfaction among stakeholders regarding the functioning of existing regional development structures and processes. Neither the Regional Development Agencies (RDA) nor central body recognized as Association of Regional Development Agencies (ARDA) have achieved a satisfactory level of cooperation among themselves, and with their key stakeholders. Practical Implications: The future approach to RED should be based on balanced distribution of responsibilities between the central and local government levels with clear roles and responsibilities. The central government enables the environment and designs the legal framework. A central liaison body facilitates coordination between the regions and municipalities together with regional development agencies who establish solid linkages with the private business sector to develop and implement interventions. Originality/Value: The research aims to establish the regional economic development model that will serve as one stop shop at regions supporting the business development and increasing employability in the country.peer-reviewe

'Quadratic Nexus' and the Process of Democratization and State-Building in Albania and Kosovo:A Comparison

This paper examines the interplay between internal and external actors in the process of democratization and state-building in Albania and Kosovo. It does so by using David J. Smith's “quadratic nexus” that links Brubaker's “triadic nexus” – nationalizing states, national minorities and external national homelands – to the institutions of an ascendant and expansive “Euro-Atlantic space”. The main argument of this paper is twofold. First, it argues the nexus remains a useful framework in the study of state-and nation-building provided that it moves beyond the “civic vs. ethnic” dichotomy. Today, many states with a mixture of civic and multi-ethnic elements involve this relational nexus. Second, while comparing Albania and Kosovo, this paper argues that all the four elements of the nexus have a different impact on the process of state- and nation-building and their relationship is more conflictual in Kosovo than in Albania.</jats:p

    Insurance contracts on tourism

The business life in the modern world is developed upon the logia of the domination of the rules and within them an important role play those that are related to implementation of the standards that are connected with he security and insurances. Due to the need for an economic transformation it resulted with the creating of a new set of new contracts which commencing from several general principles of the obligatory law, that regulate the situation which were not established insofar, which in fact are established in practical life. These constructions of the contract law largely begin to be distinguished from the so-called classic contracts out of the civil law. The contracts, often similarly with the classic ones, with their content and intention, the differ so largely from the classical ones that now cannot be argued anymore for one of their existing contracts but for the new type of contracts, independent, sui-generis. Viewed from this plan the contract on insurance is known from the early times, but now it has been so largely transformed thus now transaction or operation within the domestic or international trade is not conducted without involvement of this contract.Contract, insurance, insurance company, tourism, business, policy, imperative rule

The need for the establishment of a legislative framework for sustainable tourism in Kosovo

Having into account trends and dynamics of global contemporary developments in respect to a sustainable economic and tourism development, such social actions are considered essential and are converted into standards and principles that need to be effectively implemented in our life. The tourism as economic activity is considered a very heterogeneous nature activity as in the theoretical study aspect also in its positive and negative reflection that is introduced in post modern world. Certainly, the post modernism and the globalization process itself have determined a rational approach and teamwork for all interested actors in the way that the new logic of new economic developments is based upon the principles of sustainability, balancing, and planned consumption of natural resources. The enormous development of technological techniques and the race to penetrate into global markets, in light of free trade, has caused that the exploitation of resources not just that is becoming very atrocious, but is seriously endangering the biodiversity of the global environment. The new paradigm “ for a sustainable development” requires setting of a legislative framework which requires not only the support of international convention, declaration and actions, in order to be easily implemented and acceptable by the society but to ensure and guarantee effective modern strategy for a development.Economy tourism sustainability strategy international convention declarations conferences
