Groundwater potential on unconfined aquifer research has been done in Ransiki District Manokwari Regency of Papua Province. The main objective of this research are to predict the groundwater potential in Ransiki City and to evaluate the groundwater potential with water need area based on settlement planning in Ransiki. This research was conducted by field work and laboratory analysis. The field work includes collection of primary data such as taking groundwater sample. The depth of groundwater measuring the fluctuation of groundwater and than pumping test and secondary data such as collecting map and climate data. Laboratory work covers analysis of groundwater quality such as physical, chemical and biological qualities, analysis of field data and map analysis. The map of groundwater on unconfined aquifer was made in two waysthe first was based on aquifer characteristics (transmissibility coefficient, groundwater depth and groundwater fluctuation) and than groundwater quality represented by conductivity, and the second was based on image of landsat-7 ETM interpretation. The results of the research in Ransiki City based on the field work showed that classification of groundwater potential can be divided into moderate class, high class and very high class. The research in the part of Ransiki District based on image of landsat-7 ETM interpretation showed that classification of groundwater potential can be differentiated into very low class, low class, moderate class, high class and very high class. These methods showed that alluvial landform unit of Ransiki City has high to very high groundwater potential classes. The relation with settlement planning on Ransiki RUTRK showed that location of settlement planning is appropriate based on the water need which can be taken from the unconfined aquifer. The groundwater resources is sufficient for public need. Keywords: unconfined aquifer, groundwater potential, water need
