    Impact of hybrid renewable energy systems on short circuit levels in distribution networks

    The effects of the distributed generation can be classified as environmental, technical and economical effects. It is playing a very vital role for improving the voltage profiles in electrical power systems. However, it could have some negative impacts such as operating conflicts for fault clearing and interference with relaying. Distribution system is the link between the utility system and the consumer. It is divided into three categories radial, Loop, and network. Distribution networks are the most commonly used to cover huge number of loads. The power system reliability mainly depends on the smooth operation and continuity of supply of the distribution network. However, this may not always be guaranteed especially with the introduction of distributed generation to the distribution network. This paper will examine the impact of hybrid renewable energy systems (using photovoltaic and doubly fed induction generators) on short circuit level of IEEE 13-bus distribution test system using ETAP software

    MARVELO: Wireless Virtual Network Embedding for Overlay Graphs with Loops

    When deploying resource-intensive signal processing applications in wireless sensor or mesh networks, distributing processing blocks over multiple nodes becomes promising. Such distributed applications need to solve the placement problem (which block to run on which node), the routing problem (which link between blocks to map on which path between nodes), and the scheduling problem (which transmission is active when). We investigate a variant where the application graph may contain feedback loops and we exploit wireless networks? inherent multicast advantage. Thus, we propose Multicast-Aware Routing for Virtual network Embedding with Loops in Overlays (MARVELO) to find efficient solutions for scheduling and routing under a detailed interference model. We cast this as a mixed integer quadratically constrained optimisation problem and provide an efficient heuristic. Simulations show that our approach handles complex scenarios quickly.Comment: 6 page

    Integrating identity-based cryptography in IMS service authentication

    Nowadays, the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is a promising research field. Many ongoing works related to the security and the performances of its employment are presented to the research community. Although, the security and data privacy aspects are very important in the IMS global objectives, they observe little attention so far. Secure access to multimedia services is based on SIP and HTTP digest on top of IMS architecture. The standard deploys AKA-MD5 for the terminal authentication. The third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) provided Generic Bootstrapping Architecture (GBA) to authenticate the subscriber before accessing multimedia services over HTTP. In this paper, we propose a new IMS Service Authentication scheme using Identity Based cryptography (IBC). This new scheme will lead to better performances when there are simultaneous authentication requests using Identity-based Batch Verification.     Road traffic safety represents one of the most perplexing dilemmas for modern man. On the one hand, the invention of the automobile has undoubtedly contributed to the exponential growth of civilization achieved in this century. On the other hand, this invention had introduced massive undesirable side effects, among the most notable of which are noise and air pollution. From the public health viewpoint, road traffic accidents are among the leading causes of deaths in advanced countries, in addition to causing vast amounts of disability. Recognizing these problems, the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization sought to initiate a research effort aimed at ameliorating some of them. The Austrian Government, noting the high rate of road accidents in Austria, was also keenly interested. It was thus agreed that the IIASA Bio-Medical Project and the Austrian Kuratorium fuer Verkehrssicherheit would carry out such a study in cooperation with WHO. This workshop was organized in order to discuss the overall traffic safety efforts currently underway in Europe and to point out some open areas of research in which the system-analytic approach may be useful. It is anticipated that this will be the first step in a long-term research effort, possibly funded by WHO
