The process of premature aging is a physiological process that will occur in every living thing that is most visible on the skin. Recent studies proved that premature aging process can be prevented by using anti-aging cosmetics containing antioxidants. Natural origins of antioxidant are more desirable than synthetic one as they have more benefits and guaranteed safety. Virgin coconut oil (VCO) is well-known with its excellent antioxidant activity and abundance availability in Indonesia. Therefore it was interesting to develop anti-aging cream containing VCO as an active antioxidant ingredient. VCO-containing anti-aging cream was formulated using a base of white vaseline. Evaluation of anti-aging cream showed that the anti-aging cream had a semisolid consistency, white color, and lemon-like aroma. The anti-aging cream was homogeneous with a pH of 5.9-6.1, with an oil-in-water cream type, and stable during storage. While the hedonic test showed that as much as 40.0%; 42.90%; 45.70% liked the color, the smell, and the texture of the anti-aging cream, respectively. It was concluded that virgin coconut oil can be formulated into an anti-aging cream that stable during storage and having the preferred color, aroma and texture. It is potential to be developed as anti-aging cream with natural origin ingredients

Anti-aging is a preparation that is useful for preventing or slowing down the effects of aging such as wrinkles, dark spots, rough skin, and enlarged pores. Lemon peel contains flavonoids, namely hesperidin which can prevent aging and can improve skin health. This study aims to formulate anti-aging cream preparations, test the anti-aging effect, and determine the best concentration of anti-aging cream from lemon peel extract. The concentration of lemon peel extract used as a cream ingredient are: 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10%. The tests carried out were homogeneity test, determination of emulsion type, pH, stability observation, skin irritation test. The test was carried out for 4 weeks. The results showed that the anti-aging cream preparations produced were homogeneous and showed an o/w type. The pH test when the cream was made was: 6-7 and after 12 weeks of storage, it was: 5-7. Anti-aging cream preparations have shown a significant increase in skin effects after 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, and 4 weeks. F5 (10% cream) provides the best anti-aging effectiveness. Lemon peel extract can be formulated into an o/a cream preparation that is able to provide anti-aging effects on the skin. Formula 5 (F5) with a concentration of 10% lemon peel extract was the most

Anti-aging genes improve appetite regulation and reverse cell senescence and apoptosis in global populations

Appetite regulation by nutritional intervention is required early in life that involves the anti-aging gene Sirtuin 1 (Sirt 1) with Sirt 1 maintenance of other cellular anti-aging genes involved in cell circadian rhythm, senescence and apoptosis. Interests in anti-aging therapy with appetite regulation improve an individual’s survival to metabolic disease induced by gene-environment interactions by maintenance of the anti-aging genes connected to the metabolism of bacterial lipopolysaccharides, drugs and xenobiotics. Interventions to the aging process involve early calorie restriction with appetite regulation connected to appropriate genetic mechanisms that involve mitochondrial biogenesis and DNA repair in neurons. In the aging process as the anti-aging genes are suppressed as a result of transcriptional dysregulation chronic disease accelerations and connected to insulin resistance, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. Interests in the gene-environment interaction indicate that the anti-aging gene Sirt 1 that regulates food intake has been repressed early in the aging process in various global populations. The connections between Sirt 1 and other anti-aging genes such as Klotho, p66Shc (longevity protein) and Forkhead box proteins (FOXO1/ FOXO3a) have been associated with programmed cell death and alterations in these anti-aging genesregulate glucose, lipid and amyloid beta metabolism that are important to various chronic diseases

Fructus lycii is a common Chinese herbal medicine used in China for nearly 2000 years. It has beneficial effects on eyes, liver and kidneys; and it has long been considered to be an anti-aging herb in ancient Chinese medicine. Modern studies have partially probed the magic anti-aging property of F. lycii. The beneficial effects of F. lycii on aging are largely attributed to its bioactive components such as polysaccharides, carotenoids and flavonoids. This review focuses on the anti-aging aspect of F. lycii, elaborating the bioactive ingredients accounting for the property, anti-aging pharmacology in terms of its antioxidation capacity, immunomodulative effect and neuroprotective activity. Objective: Anti-aging formulations are among the premier skin care products in the global market that are in huge demand. Different treatments are available to slow down skin aging, but are very expensive and are often found to produce adverse reactions to the skin in prolong use. Hence, present study has been designed to formulate poly herbal anti-aging skin care products and their evaluation thereon. Methods: Anti-aging herbal skin care cream, gel and serum were prepared using two medicinal plants Hippophae salicifolia and Celosia argentea along with three bioactives caffeine, rutin and bakuchiol. The formulations were evaluated for physicochemical parameters like pH, texture analysis, acid value, short-term stability study, etc. Phenolics and flavanoid content were determined. Anti-aging potential was gauged by in silico studies using the glide tool of ‘Schrodinger’. Results: Cream, gel and serum showed good physical appearance and were free from gritty particles and with smooth texture. Accelerated stability studies indicated insignificant changes in physicochemical parameters of the formulations. Based on the docking score and interaction with amino acid, compounds present in the plant extracts and bioactive showed good anti-aging activity. Conclusion: The prepared herbal anti-aging formulations were found to be stable and exhibited good potential as an anti-aging combination. So, they can be used as an effective combination to protect skin from aging

Aging of the skin naturally occurs with increasing age due to several factors involving the reduction of collagen, elastin and many other proteins which help maintain strength and integrity of the skin. Several strategies and treatments were developed to fight and slow down this unstoppable ongoing natural process, however, many of the widely available products may not be as efficient as advertised. The aim was to discuss and investigate the truths and myths about skin anti-aging products and strategies by reviewing the previous studies conducted on this subject. Google scholar database was explored to search for articles related to the current subjects starting from 2010 till 2021. The included searching terms were a combination of anti-aging strategies and efficacy, anti-aging products and myths, anti-aging products and usage of women and perception and attitude of women and anti-aging strategies. The inclusion criteria included original articles conducted on anti-aging products and strategies and full text articles. A total of 40 articles were obtained, only three articles were eligible for the inclusion criteria. The three studies included a total number of 192 participants. Some anti-aging products were found to improve skin health and improve the level of coarse and fine wrinkles and lines. However, their efficacy was limited and doesn't act as magic
