Grounding with Linguistics and Pedagogical Datas to the Common Encountered Problems by Students of Translation Studies in German Preparatory Class During Grammatical Lesson

Foreign language learning problems appears especially in departments of foreign language as an another problem. It has some cognitive reason but except this reason, if suitable teaching techniques couldn’t apply in education. These will cause some problems. In searching of solution for these problems lecturers and departments should take responsibility. Using some teaching methods are important in German language teaching as a secondary or third foreign language teaching. These are necessary for useful learning. In this study, it was aimed, that to offer linguistic and pedagogical solution for foreign language learning problems of students of preparatory class. In this descriptive research was used unstructured observation and documentary review methods from qualitative research

Türkiye ortaöğretim sektöründe katma değer oluşumu: üniversiteye giriş yarışı

Bu çalışmada Türkiye’de üniversiteye giriş yarışı “katma değer” yaklaşımıyla incelemektedir. 2005 yılı ÖSYM verileri ile ÖSS’ye başvuran tüm öğrencileri içeren bir veritabanı oluşturulmuş, lise son sınıf öğrencilere ait LGS puanları eklenmiş, bir örneklem gruba anket uygulanmıştır. Raporda önce veritabanı ve tanımlar sunulmuş, cinsiyet, coğrafi bölge, mezuniyet durumu, lise türe arasında çeşitli kesitlere bakılmış, sonra katma değerin belirleyicileri regresyon denemeleri ile sınanmıştır. Sonuç bulgular ÖSS’de başarının büyük ölçüde LGS’de başarı, okunan lise, dershaneye ayrılan zaman ve lisede gösterilen çaba tarafından açıklandığı ve belirlendiğidir. Gelir ve anne baba eğitimi dolaylı, bölge, cinsiyet ve diğer bazı değişkenler zayıf açıklayanlar olarak çıkmaktadır. ABSTRACT This study offers a value-added approach analysis of the competition for admission to universities in Turkey administered by the Center for Student Selection and Placement (CSSP). We initially constructed a database involving all the 1.800.000 plus applicants in 2005 has been constructed from the CSSP data. To this database then we added for all lycee graduating students first their individual Lycee Entrance Examination (LEE) scores and secondly for a subsample among them the outcomes of a survey we designed and conducted in 2005. In this report, we first present this database along with various descriptive accounts across gender, region, school type and graduation status. We then present the modeling exercise undertaken to identify the primary factors that explain success in the competition. We find these to be the student’s lycee, LEE score, external training for the Exam in the so-called drilling sector, and effort in lycee. Income, education level of parents, gender, region and some other variables we have tested all turn out to have indirect or weak significance

An Analysis of Writing Activities in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language Textbooks (Yedi Iklim Turkce Sample)

The purpose of this study was to analyze the writing activities in Yedi Iklim Turkce textbook series, that was published to teach Turkish as a foreign language, according to different writing approaches. With this purpose in mind, we analyzed the writing activities in both textbooks and workbooks of this series in terms of the principles of (1) focus on language structures, (2) focus on text functions, (3) focus on creative expression, (4) focus on the writing process, (5) focus on content and (6) focus on reader. We also aimed at discovering how compatible these activities are with the recent writing instruction approaches. As a result of the analysis, many of the writing activities were observed to follow the principles of the traditional writing instruction approaches such as focus on form and focus on text functions. Some of the few writing activities exemplified focus on creative writing. Although students are asked to write on several genres, these writing activities are not done within the principles of focus on reader approach but mostly within the principles of focus on text functions that emphasize language structures and their functions in use

Deutsche Grammatik als Unterrichtsfach und seine Gestaltung in der Praxis

An den Studiengängen der Abteilung für Germanistik und Deutsch als Fremdsprache unserer Universitäten nimmt das Fach „Deutsche Grammatik“ einen wichtigen Platz ein. Zu beobachten ist dabei, dass die Studierenden der grammatischen Strukturen des Deutschen sowohl in morphosyntaktischer und funktioneller Hinsicht nicht auf erforderlichem Niveau beherrschen. Dabei soll besondere Kraft darauf verwendet werden, die morphosyntaktischern Kenntnisse in aktive Sprachfähigkeit umzusetzen. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist, Gedanken und Vorschläge zu entwickeln, wie der Unterricht hinsichtlich unserer Zielgruppe fruchtbar, besonders für die funktionelle Beherrschung der deutschen Grammatik gestaltet werden kann
