BRIDGE DEVICES FOR WIRELESS PROJECTION OF VEHICLE OPERATING SYSTEMS

Vehicles may provide an infotainment experience that is hosted by a head unit or other computing device. The head unit may execute a native operating system that provides an execution environment in which an operating system client may execute to support execution of a different operating system hosted by another computing device (e.g., a smartphone, laptop computer, tablet computer, etc.). The head unit may require that the computing device physically interconnect with the head unit as the head unit may not support wireless connections (or only support limited wireless connections in the form of bandwidth limited connection – e.g., personal area network connections, such as Bluetooth® connections). Techniques described in this disclosure provide a bridge device for enabling wireless connections between the head unit and the computing devices for wireless projection of the different operating system, where the bridge device provides the physical interconnection required by the head unit while maintaining the wireless connection with the computing device to support wireless projection of the different operating system

Bandwidth allocation for wired and wireless connections

This project is a systematic study of "Bandwidth Allocation" in networks. IT comprises of two main strategies of networking namely wired networks and wireless networks. The problem of bandwidth allocation has been extensively studied for wired and wireless domain. But very little attention has been paid for wired-cum-wireless network topologies. This paper focuses on issues that make a wireless scenario different from a wired one. In the project the various algorithm that are used in wireless networks have been discussed and simulation approaclles have been done to simulate a communications throughput. Examples of graphical results have been illustrated and compared. A comparison of the important features of wired and wireless networks have been tabulated. The technique of bandwidth allocation is an ever evolving problem, thus many attempts have been made to make bandwidth allocation fair and justifiable. This study will give a good idea about these attempts as well as highlight the issues involved. (Author's abstract

On the Design of Ambient Intelligent Systems in the Context of Assistive Technologies

    Get PDF
The design of Ambient Intelligent Systems (AISs) is discussed in the context of assistive technologies. The main issues include ubiquitous communications, context awareness, natural interactions and heterogeneity, which are analyzed using some examples. A layered architecture is proposed for heterogeneous sub-systems integration with three levels of interactions that may be used as a framework to design assistive AISs.Ministerio de Ciencia y TecnologĂa TIC2001-1868-C0

Consuming Web Services on Mobile Platforms

Web services are an emerging technology that provides interoperability between applications running in different platforms. The Web services technology provide the best approach to Service Oriented Architecture envision of component collaboration for better business re-quirements fulfilment in large enterprise systems. The challenges in implementing Web services consuming clients for low-resources mobile devices connected through unreliable wireless connections are delimited. The paper also presents a communication architecture that moves the heavy load of XML-based messaging system from the mobile clients to an external middleware component. The middleware component will act like a gateway that lightly com-municates with the device in a client-server manner over a fast binary protocol and at the same time takes the responsibility of solving the request to the Web service.Web Services, SOA, Mobile Computing, Mobile Devices
