Discovering user access pattern based on probabilistic latent factor model

There has been an increased demand for characterizing user access patterns using web mining techniques since the informative knowledge extracted from web server log files can not only offer benefits for web site structure improvement but also for better understanding of user navigational behavior. In this paper, we present a web usage mining method, which utilize web user usage and page linkage information to capture user access pattern based on Probabilistic Latent Semantic Analysis (PLSA) model. A specific probabilistic model analysis algorithm, EM algorithm, is applied to the integrated usage data to infer the latent semantic factors as well as generate user session clusters for revealing user access patterns. Experiments have been conducted on real world data set to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. The results have shown that the presented method is capable of characterizing the latent semantic factors and generating user profile in terms of weighted page vectors, which may reflect the common access interest exhibited by users among same session cluster. © 2005, Australian Computer Society, Inc

Web usage mining is obtaining the interesting and constructive knowledge and implicit information from activities related to the WWW. Web servers trace and gather information about user interactions every time the user requests for particular resources. Evaluating the Web access logs would assist in predicting the user behavior and also assists in formulating the web structure. Based on the applications point of view, information extracted from the Web usage patterns possibly directly applied to competently manage activities related to e-business, e-services, e-education, on-line communities and so on. On the other hand, since the size and density of the data grows rapidly, the information provided by existing Web log file analysis tools may possibly provide insufficient information and hence more intelligent mining techniques are needed. There are several approaches previously available for web usage mining. The approaches available in the literature have their own merits and demerits. This paper focuses on the study and analysis of various existing web usage mining techniques

A Reinforcement Learning Based Model for Adaptive ServiceQuality Management in E-Commerce Websites

Providing high-quality service to all users is adifficult and inefficient strategy for e-commerce providers, especially when Web servers experience overload condi-tions that cause increased response time and requestrejections, leading to user frustration and reduced revenue. In an e-commerce system, customer Web sessions havediffering values for service providers. These tend to: givepreference to customer Web sessions that are likely tobring more profit by providing better service quality. Thispaper proposes a reinforcement-learning based adaptivee-commerce system model that adapts the service qualitylevel for different Web sessions within the customer’snavigation in order to maximize total profit. The e-com-merce system is considered as an electronic supply chainwhich includes a network of basic e- providers used tosupply e-commerce services for end customers. The learneragent noted as e-commerce supply chain manager(ECSCM) agent allocates a service quality level to thecustomer’s request based on his/her navigation pattern inthe e-commerce Website and selects an optimized combi-nation of service providers to respond to the customer’srequest. To evaluate the proposed model, a multi agentframework composed of three agent types, the ECSCMagent, customer agent (buyer/browser) and service provideragent, is employed. Experimental results show that theproposed model improves total profits through costreduction and revenue enhancement simultaneously andencourages customers to purchase from the Websitethrough service quality adaptation

Trabalho apresentado no 5th World Conference on Information Systems and Technologies (WorldCIST’17), 11-13 de abril 2017, Porto Santo, Madeira PortugalAs a websites’ structure grow it is paramount to accommodate the alignment of user needs and experience with the overall websites’ purposes. Toward this requirement, the proposed website navigation recommendation system suggests to users, pages that might be of her interest based on past successful navigation patterns of overall site’s usage. Most of existing recommendation systems adopts traditionally one of the web mining branches. We take a different stance, on web mining usage, and alternatively considered the real time enactment of web analytic tools supported analysis given their current maturity and affordances. On this basis we provide a model, its implementation and evaluation for navigation based recommendations generation and delivery. The developed prototype adopted a SaaS orientation to promote the underlying functionalities integration within any website. Preliminary evaluation’s results seem to favor the validation of the present contribution rational.N/

World Wide Web consists of a huge volume of different types of data. Web mining is one of the fields of data mining wherein there are different web services and a large number of web users. Web user mining is also one of the fields of web mining. The web users’ information about the web access is collected through different ways. The most common technique to collect information about the web users is through web log file. There are several other techniques available to collect web users’ web access information; they are through browser agent, user authentication, web review, web rating, web ranking and tracking cookies. The web users find it difficult to retrieve their required information in time from the web because of the huge volume of unstructured and structured information which increases the complexity of the web. Web usage mining is very much important for various purposes such as organizing website, business and maintenance service, personalization of website and reducing the network bandwidth. This paper provides an analysis about the web usage mining techniques. Â

Socialization and Personalization in Internet of Things (IOT) environment are the current trends in computing research. Most of the research work stresses the importance of predicting the service & providing socialized and personalized services. This paper presents a survey report on different techniques used for predicting user intention in wide variety of IOT based applications like smart mobile, smart television, web mining, weather forecasting, health-care/medical, robotics, road-traffic, educational data mining, natural calamities, retail banking, e-commerce, wireless networks & social networking. As per the survey made the prediction techniques are used for: predicting the application that can be accessed by the mobile user, predicting the next page to be accessed by web user, predicting the users favorite TV program, predicting user navigational patterns and usage needs on websites & also to extract the users browsing behavior, predicting future climate conditions, predicting whether a patient is suffering from a disease, predicting user intention to make implicit and human-like interactions possible by accepting implicit commands, predicting the amount of traffic occurring at a particular location, predicting student performance in schools & colleges, predicting & estimating the frequency of natural calamities occurrences like floods, earthquakes over a long period of time & also to take precautionary measures, predicting & detecting false user trying to make transaction in the name of genuine user, predicting the actions performed by the user to improve the business, predicting & detecting the intruder acting in the network, predicting the mood transition information of the user by using context history, etc. This paper also discusses different techniques like Decision Tree algorithm, Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining based Machine learning techniques, Content and Collaborative based Recommender algorithms used for prediction

With current projections regarding the growth of Internet sales, online retailing raises many questions about how to market on the Net. A Recommender System (RS) is a composition of software tools that provides valuable piece of advice for items or services chosen by a user. Recommender systems are currently useful in both the research and in the commercial areas. Recommender systems are a means of personalizing a site and a solution to the customer?s information overload problem. Recommender Systems (RS) are software tools and techniques providing suggestions for items and/or services to be of use to a user. These systems are achieving widespread success in e-commerce applications nowadays, with the advent of internet. This paper presents a categorical review of the field of recommender systems and describes the state-of-the-art of the recommendation methods that are usually classified into four categories: Content based Collaborative, Demographic and Hybrid systems. To build our recommender system we will use fuzzy logic and Markov chain algorithm
