textThis report describes a design approach for implementing a software test automation solution that can accommodate existing test processes in an organization. The process of implementing a software test automation solution is a large undertaking and requires careful planning to avoid unsuccessful implementations. This report outlines a design that can integrate with existing business and development processes in an organization, and recommends automation and development frameworks for achieving the test automation goals. Considerations for a heterogeneous test environment with varying types of supported operating systems, such as Windows and Linux, and multiple test execution environments, such as Java and .NET, have been made in this design and in the tool selections for the system implementation. Auditing such applications implies several specific challenges related to interoperability, performance and security. We also highlight several quality attributes and potential risks in SOA applications that an architect should be aware when designing a distributed system. Key risk factors are identified and a model for risk evaluation is introduced. The top reasons for auditing SOA applications are presented as well as the most important standards. IC-Service: A Service-Oriented Approach to the Development of Recommendation Systems

Recommendation systems have proven to be useful in various application domains. However, current solutions are usually ad-hoc systems which are tightly-coupled with the application domain. We present the IC-Service, a recommendation service that can be included in any system in a loosely coupled way. The implementation follows the principles of service oriented computing and provides a solution to various problems arising in recommendation systems, e.g. to the problem of meta-recommendation systems development. Moreover, when properly configured, the IC-Service can be used by different applications (clients), and several independent instances of the IC-Service can collaborate to produce better recommendations.
