    Models for Flow Rate Simulation in Gear Pumps: A Review

    Gear pumps represent the majority of the fixed displacement machines used for flow generation in fluid power systems. In this context, the paper presents a review of the different methodologies used in the last years for the simulation of the flow rates generated by gerotor, external gear and crescent pumps. As far as the lumped parameter models are concerned, different ways of selecting the control volumes into which the pump is split are analyzed and the main governing equations are presented. The principles and the applications of distributed models from 1D to 3D are reported. A specific section is dedicated to the methods for the evaluation of the necessary geometric quantities: analytic, numerical and Computer-Aided Design (CAD)-based. The more recent studies taking into account the influence on leakages of the interactions between the fluid and the mechanical parts are explained. Finally the models for the simulation of the fluid aeration are described. The review brings to evidence the increasing effort for improving the simulation models used for the design and the optimization of the gear machines

    Processing of composites and nanocomposites materials constitutes nowadays an important area of research given the growing interest by these types of materials due to its singular properties, namely in what concerns technological and design aspects. This monography presents the developments taking place in the framework of the NEWEX project during the fourth year of its duration, which is a sequence of other two previous monographies. The main objective of the NEWEX project entitled ā€œInvestigation and development of a new generation of machines for the processing of composite and nanocomposites materialsā€ is the exchange of researchers from the institutions participating in the project. Another important objective consists in develop permanent international and inter-sector collaboration between academic research centres (Lublin University of Technology, Technical University of Kosice, University of Minho) and industrial organizations (Zamak-Mercator LLC and SEZ-Krompachy a.s., Dirmeta UAB). The contents of this book reflects the work done within the NEWEX project. It starts by presenting the results obtained concerning new concepts for the extruder parts studied and the manufacturing of those extruder parts. Then, some approaches for modelling and optimizing and to study experimentally the process are described, which includes mixing analysis and monitoring. Finally, a practical and state-of-theart application of the extrusion is identified, namely 3D printing. It is expected that the nine chapters of this monography be useful to the industry of plastics processing and for scientific organisations dealing with technologies and processing of polymer composites and nanocomposites

    Optimization of Operation Sequencing in CAPP Using Hybrid Genetic Algorithm and Simulated Annealing Approach

    In any CAPP system, one of the most important process planning functions is selection of the operations and corresponding machines in order to generate the optimal operation sequence. In this paper, the hybrid GA-SA algorithm is used to solve this combinatorial optimization NP (Non-deterministic Polynomial) problem. The network representation is adopted to describe operation and sequencing flexibility in process planning and the mathematical model for process planning is described with the objective of minimizing the production time. Experimental results show effectiveness of the hybrid algorithm that, in comparison with the GA and SA standalone algorithms, gives optimal operation sequence with lesser computational time and lesser number of iterations

    This paper presents a hybrid control algorithm for Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) consisting of two independent control loops: Position Based Control (PBC) for global navigation within manufacturing environment and Image Based Visual Servoing (IBVS) for fine motions needed for accurate steering towards loading/unloading point. The proposed hybrid control separates the initial transportation task into global navigation towards the goal point, and fine motion from the goal point to the loading/unloading point. In this manner, the need for artificial landmarks or accurate map of the environment is bypassed. Initial experimental results show the usefulness of the proposed approach.COBISS.SR-ID 27383808
