Heterogeneous Networking: An Enabling Paradigm for Ubiquitous Wireless Communications
In this paper we explore the principle of heterogeneous wireless networking and discuss the potential avenues towards the realization of the ubiquitous wireless communications. Specifically, we demonstrate that the heterogeneous network architecture, constituted by the fusion of the classic cellular and the ad hoc network topologies, inherits the vital complementary characteristics of both architectures, and thus has the potential of attaining the levels of performance and efficiency required by the future wireless communications
Design Concept for a Failover Mechanism in Distributed SDN Controllers
Software defined networking allows the separation of the control plane and data plane in networking. It provides scalability, programmability, and centralized control. It will use these traits to reach ubiquitous connectivity. Like all concepts software defined networking does not offer these advantages without a cost. By utilizing a centralized controller, a single point of failure is created. To address this issue, this paper proposes a distributed controller failover. This failover will provide a mechanism for recovery when controllers are not located in the same location. This failover mechanism is based on number of hops from orphan nodes to the controller in addition to the link connection. This mechanism was simulated in Long Term Evolution telecommunications architecture
Gathering experience in trust-based interactions
As advances in mobile and embedded technologies coupled with progress in adhoc networking fuel the shift towards ubiquitous computing systems it is becoming increasingly clear that security is a major concern. While this is true of all computing paradigms, the characteristics of ubiquitous systems amplify this concern by promoting spontaneous interaction between diverse heterogeneous entities across administrative boundaries [5]. Entities cannot therefore rely on a specific control authority and will have no global view of the state of the system. To facilitate collaboration with unfamiliar counterparts therefore requires that an entity takes a proactive approach to self-protection. We conjecture that trust management is the best way to provide support for such self-protection measures

Factors Influencing the Quality of the User Experience in Ubiquitous Recommender Systems
The use of mobile devices and the rapid growth of the internet and networking
infrastructure has brought the necessity of using Ubiquitous recommender
systems. However in mobile devices there are different factors that need to be
considered in order to get more useful recommendations and increase the quality
of the user experience. This paper gives an overview of the factors related to
