    Get PDF
This study sought to investigate thermal radiation and buoyancy effects on heat and mass transfer over a semi-infinite stretching surface with suction and blowing. Appropriate transformations were employed to transform the governing differential equations to nonsimilar form. The transformed equations were solved numerically by an efficient implicit, iterative finite-difference scheme. A parametric study illustrating the influence of wall suction or injection, radiation, Schmidt number and Grashof number on the fluid velocity, temperature and concentration is conducted. We conclude from the study that the flow is appreciably influenced by thermal radiation, Schmidt number, as well as fluid injection or suction

In this paper, we analyze the combined influence of thermal radiation, Soret, Dufour effects, heat sources on convective heat and mass transfer flow of a viscous ,electrically conducting, chemically reacting fluid past a vertical plate with a convective surface boundary conduction. The governing equations are transformed by employing similarity transformations and the resultant non-dimensional equations are solved numerically using Runge-Kutta method along with Shooting technique. The effects of various parameters velocity, temperature, concentration ,skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are exhibited in figures ,tables and analyze in detail. Thermal-diffusion and diffusion-thermo effects on combined heat and mass transfer in mixed convection boundary layer flow with aiding and opposing external flows from a vertical plate embedded in a liquid saturated porous medium with melting are investigated. The resulting system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations is solved numerically using Runge Kutta-Fehlberg with shooting techniques. Numerical results are obtained for the velocity, temperature, and concentration distributions, as well as the Nusselt number and Sherwood number for several values of the parameters, namely, the buoyancy parameter, melting parameter, Dufour effect, Soret effect, and Lewis number. The obtained results are presented graphically and in tabular form and the physical aspects of the problem are discussed

Unsteady MHD Convective Heat And Mass Transfer Past An Infinite Vertical Plate Embedded In A Porous Medium With Radiation And Chemical Reaction Under The Influence Of Dufour And Soret Effects

A two-dimensional unsteady MHD free convective heat and mass transfer flow past a semi-infinite vertical porous plate in a porous medium in presence of thermal radiation and chemical reaction has been studied numerically including the Dufour and Soret effects. The governing nonlinear partial differential equations have been reduced to the coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations by the similarity transformations. The resulting equations are then solved numerically using shooting method along with Runge-Kutta fourth order integration scheme. The numerical results are displayed graphically showing the effects of various parameters entering into the problem. Finally, the local values of the skin-friction coefficient, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are also shown in tabular form

This study examines the problem of steady, MHD, mixed convection flow of an incompressible viscous fluid past a semi-infinite vertical permeable plate with slip condition at the boundary layer. The flow field is exposed to the influence of buoyancy, Ohmic heating and Soret effects. The governing equations include the continuity, linear momentum, energy and mass transfer equations which are solved analytically by using perturbation method. The results of this parametric study on the velocity, temperature and concentration distributions are shown graphically and the physical aspects of the problem are highlighted and discussed. The effect of shear stress, rate of heat and mass transfer coefficients at the channel walls are displayed in tables

    Advanced Topics in Mass Transfer

    Get PDF
This book introduces a number of selected advanced topics in mass transfer phenomenon and covers its theoretical, numerical, modeling and experimental aspects. The 26 chapters of this book are divided into five parts. The first is devoted to the study of some problems of mass transfer in microchannels, turbulence, waves and plasma, while chapters regarding mass transfer with hydro-, magnetohydro- and electro- dynamics are collected in the second part. The third part deals with mass transfer in food, such as rice, cheese, fruits and vegetables, and the fourth focuses on mass transfer in some large-scale applications such as geomorphologic studies. The last part introduces several issues of combined heat and mass transfer phenomena. The book can be considered as a rich reference for researchers and engineers working in the field of mass transfer and its related topics
