    At present information technology plays important roles in teaching and learning activities. E-learning systems have the potential to reduce operating costs and train more people.Teachers and students do not have to be in the same place at the same time and the students have the opportunity to perform self-studies and self-evaluation using e-tutorial systems.E-learning systems could be considered expert systems in the sense that they provide expert advice in particular subjects of studies to students.The exploitation of knowledge base and knowledge representation techniques is therefore vital to the development of e-learning systems.This paper presents the development of a knowledge-based e-tutorial system that uses the Object Role Model (ORM) as its knowledge representation.The system provides Physics tutorials.It was implemented in Prolog and the knowledge base is on a relational database server

    Philosophy of Blockchain Technology - Ontologies

    About the necessity and usefulness of developing a philosophy specific to the blockchain technology, emphasizing on the ontological aspects. After an Introduction that highlights the main philosophical directions for this emerging technology, in Blockchain Technology I explain the way the blockchain works, discussing ontological development directions of this technology in Designing and Modeling. The next section is dedicated to the main application of blockchain technology, Bitcoin, with the social implications of this cryptocurrency. There follows a section of Philosophy in which I identify the blockchain technology with the concept of heterotopia developed by Michel Foucault and I interpret it in the light of the notational technology developed by Nelson Goodman as a notational system. In the Ontology section, I present two developmental paths that I consider important: Narrative Ontology, based on the idea of order and structure of history transmitted through Paul Ricoeur's narrative history, and the Enterprise Ontology system based on concepts and models of an enterprise, specific to the semantic web, and which I consider to be the most well developed and which will probably become the formal ontological system, at least in terms of the economic and legal aspects of blockchain technology. In Conclusions I am talking about the future directions of developing the blockchain technology philosophy in general as an explanatory and robust theory from a phenomenologically consistent point of view, which allows testability and ontologies in particular, arguing for the need of a global adoption of an ontological system for develop cross-cutting solutions and to make this technology profitable.     Designing Interfaces to Support Collaboration in Information Retrieval

    Information retrieval systems should acknowledge the existence of collaboration in the search process. Collaboration can help users to be more effective in both learning systems and in using them. We consider some issues of viewing interfaces to information retrieval systems as collaborative notations and how to build systems that more actively support collaboration. We describe a system that embodies just one kind of explicit support; a graphical representation of the search process that can be manipulated and discussed by the users. By acknowledging the importance of other people in the search process, we can develop systems that not only improve help-giving by people but which can lead to a more robust search activity, more able to cope with, and indeed exploit, the failures of any intelligent agents used

    Actualmente les API forman parte de nuestro día a día. Están tan integradas en nuestras rutinas que las usamos sin ser ni tan solo conscientes de ello. Buscadores de internet, comercios digitales o foros digitales, son solo alguno de los ejemplos de este uso rutinario de las API. El Object Relational Mapping es una técnica usada con para persistir los datos usados por estas API. LoopBack 4 es un framework para desarollar API con el soporte de StrongLoop (IBM). Esta es la cuarta versión del software y la más nueva. Aún sé está desarrollando. El objetivo de este proyecto es entender como LoopBack 4 implementa los dos conceptos mencionados anteriormente. De conseguir una percepción de como funciona un back-end, de como funcionan las bases de datos, y de como el framework guarda allí los datos. Finalmente crearemos una documentación completa para que alguien pueda entender el ORM en Loopback 4 des de cero. Durante el proyecto hemos estudiado e implementado unos ejemplos para explicar como fun- cionan las relaciones en LoopBack4. Esto no solo implica modelos; también incluye datasources, controladores y repositorios.     WWW Programming using computational logic systems (and the PiLLoW/Ciao library)

    We discuss from a practical point of view a number of issues involved in writing Internet and WWW applications using LP/CLP systems. We describe Pd_l_oW, a public-domain Internet and WWW programming library for LP/CLP systems which we argüe significantly simplifies the process of writing such applications. Pd_l_oW provides facilities for generating HTML structured documents, producing HTML forms, writing form handlers, accessing and parsing WWW documents, and accessing code posted at HTTP addresses. We also describe the architecture of some application classes, using a high-level model of client-server interaction, active modules. We then propose an architecture for automatic LP/CLP code downloading for local execution, using generic browsers. Finally, we also provide an overview of related work on the topic. The PiLLoW library has been developed in the context of the &- Prolog and CIAO systems, but it has been adapted to a number of popular LP/CLP systems, supporting most of its functionality

    An Approach to Assertion Application via Generalised Resolution

    In this paper we address assertion retrieval and application in theorem proving systems or proof planning systems for classical first-order logic. Due to Huang the notion of assertion comprises mathematical knowledge such as definitions, theorems, and axioms. We propose a distributed mediator module between a mathematical knowledge base KB and a theorem proving system TP which is independent of the particular proof representation format of TP and which applies generalised resolution in order to analyze the logical consequences of arbitrary assertions for a proof context at hand. Our approach is applicable also to the assumptions which are dynamically created during a proof search process. It therefore realises a crucial first step towards full automation of assertion level reasoning. We discuss the benefits and connection of our approach to proof planning and motivate an application in a project aiming at a tutorial dialogue system for mathematics

    Categorical Ontology of Complex Systems, Meta-Systems and Theory of Levels: The Emergence of Life, Human Consciousness and Society

    Single cell interactomics in simpler organisms, as well as somatic cell interactomics in multicellular organisms, involve biomolecular interactions in complex signalling pathways that were recently represented in modular terms by quantum automata with ‘reversible behavior’ representing normal cell cycling and division. Other implications of such quantum automata, modular modeling of signaling pathways and cell differentiation during development are in the fields of neural plasticity and brain development leading to quantum-weave dynamic patterns and specific molecular processes underlying extensive memory, learning, anticipation mechanisms and the emergence of human consciousness during the early brain development in children. Cell interactomics is here represented for the first time as a mixture of ‘classical’ states that determine molecular dynamics subject to Boltzmann statistics and ‘steady-state’, metabolic (multi-stable) manifolds, together with ‘configuration’ spaces of metastable quantum states emerging from complex quantum dynamics of interacting networks of biomolecules, such as proteins and nucleic acids that are now collectively defined as quantum interactomics. On the other hand, the time dependent evolution over several generations of cancer cells --that are generally known to undergo frequent and extensive genetic mutations and, indeed, suffer genomic transformations at the chromosome level (such as extensive chromosomal aberrations found in many colon cancers)-- cannot be correctly represented in the ‘standard’ terms of quantum automaton modules, as the normal somatic cells can. This significant difference at the cancer cell genomic level is therefore reflected in major changes in cancer cell interactomics often from one cancer cell ‘cycle’ to the next, and thus it requires substantial changes in the modeling strategies, mathematical tools and experimental designs aimed at understanding cancer mechanisms. Novel solutions to this important problem in carcinogenesis are proposed and experimental validation procedures are suggested.
