Nonlinear Channel Estimation for OFDM System by Complex LS-SVM under High Mobility Conditions
A nonlinear channel estimator using complex Least Square Support Vector
Machines (LS-SVM) is proposed for pilot-aided OFDM system and applied to Long
Term Evolution (LTE) downlink under high mobility conditions. The estimation
algorithm makes use of the reference signals to estimate the total frequency
response of the highly selective multipath channel in the presence of
non-Gaussian impulse noise interfering with pilot signals. Thus, the algorithm
maps trained data into a high dimensional feature space and uses the structural
risk minimization (SRM) principle to carry out the regression estimation for
the frequency response function of the highly selective channel. The
simulations show the effectiveness of the proposed method which has good
performance and high precision to track the variations of the fading channels
compared to the conventional LS method and it is robust at high speed mobility.Comment: 11 page
Least squares support vector machines for direction of arrival estimation with error control and validation
The paper presents a multiclass, multilabel implementation of least squares support vector machines (LS-SVM) for direction of arrival (DOA) estimation in a CDMA system. For any estimation or classification system, the algorithm\u27s capabilities and performance must be evaluated. Specifically, for classification algorithms, a high confidence level must exist along with a technique to tag misclassifications automatically. The presented learning algorithm includes error control and validation steps for generating statistics on the multiclass evaluation path and the signal subspace dimension. The error statistics provide a confidence level for the classification accuracy
Local Regularization Assisted Orthogonal Least Squares Regression
A locally regularized orthogonal least squares (LROLS) algorithm is proposed for constructing parsimonious or sparse regression models that generalize well. By associating each orthogonal weight in the regression model with an individual regularization parameter, the ability for the orthogonal least squares (OLS) model selection to produce a very sparse model with good generalization performance is greatly enhanced. Furthermore, with the assistance of local regularization, when to terminate the model selection procedure becomes much clearer. This LROLS algorithm has computational advantages over the recently introduced relevance vector machine (RVM) method
Support Vector Machine Multiuser Receiver for DS-CDMA Signals in Multipath Channels
The problem of constructing an adaptive multiuser detector (MUD) is considered for direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) signals transmitted through multipath channels. The emerging learning technique, called support vector machines (SVM), is proposed as a method of obtaining a nonlinear MUD from a relatively small training data block. Computer simulation is used to study this SVM MUD, and the results show that it can closely match the performance of the optimal Bayesian one-shot detector. Comparisons with an adaptive radial basis function (RBF) MUD trained by an unsupervised clustering algorithm are discussed
