    Stator flux optimization on direct torque control with fuzzy logic

    The Direct Torque Control (DTC) is well known as an effective control technique for high performance drives in a wide variety of industrial applications and conventional DTC technique uses two constant reference value: torque and stator flux. In this paper, fuzzy logic based stator flux optimization technique for DTC drives that has been proposed. The proposed fuzzy logic based stator flux optimizer self-regulates the stator flux reference using induction motor load situation without need of any motor parameters. Simulation studies have been carried out with Matlab/Simulink to compare the proposed system behaviors at vary load conditions. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed DTC technique has been improved and especially at low-load conditions torque ripple are greatly reduced with respect to the conventional DTC.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figures, Itca 2012 conferenc

    To develop an efficient variable speed compressor motor system

    This research presents a proposed new method of improving the energy efficiency of a Variable Speed Drive (VSD) for induction motors. The principles of VSD are reviewed with emphasis on the efficiency and power losses associated with the operation of the variable speed compressor motor drive, particularly at low speed operation.The efficiency of induction motor when operated at rated speed and load torque is high. However at low load operation, application of the induction motor at rated flux will cause the iron losses to increase excessively, hence its efficiency will reduce dramatically. To improve this efficiency, it is essential to obtain the flux level that minimizes the total motor losses. This technique is known as an efficiency or energy optimization control method. In practice, typical of the compressor load does not require high dynamic response, therefore improvement of the efficiency optimization control that is proposed in this research is based on scalar control model.In this research, development of a new neural network controller for efficiency optimization control is proposed. The controller is designed to generate both voltage and frequency reference signals imultaneously. To achieve a robust controller from variation of motor parameters, a real-time or on-line learning algorithm based on a second order optimization Levenberg-Marquardt is employed. The simulation of the proposed controller for variable speed compressor is presented. The results obtained clearly show that the efficiency at low speed is significant increased. Besides that the speed of the motor can be maintained. Furthermore, the controller is also robust to the motor parameters variation. The simulation results are also verified by experiment

    Min-Max Predictive Control of a Five-Phase Induction Machine

    In this paper, a fuzzy-logic based operator is used instead of a traditional cost function for the predictive stator current control of a five-phase induction machine (IM). The min-max operator is explored for the first time as an alternative to the traditional loss function. With this proposal, the selection of voltage vectors does not need weighting factors that are normally used within the loss function and require a cumbersome procedure to tune. In order to cope with conflicting criteria, the proposal uses a decision function that compares predicted errors in the torque producing subspace and in the x-y subspace.     A New design of fuzzy logic controller optimized By PSO-SCSO applied To SFO-DTC induction motor drive

    In this paper, a new strategy for the design of fuzzy logic controllers (FLC) is proposed. This strategy is based on the optimization, by the particle swarm optimization (PSO) Algorithm and by sine-cosine based swarm optimization (SCSO) Algorithm, of the input-output gains and the geometric forms of the triangular membership functions of the proposed FLC. This latter is obtained by the minimizing a cost function based on combining two criterions, the Integral Time Absolute Error (ITAE) and Integral Absolute Error (IAE). A comparison, between the conventional FLC and the proposed FLC is carried out. The PSO-FLC shows a remarkable improvement in the performances of the controlled induction motor

    Adaptive proportional-integral fuzzy logic controller of electric motor drive

    This paper presents the indirect field vector control of induction motor (IM) which is controlled by an adaptive Proportional-Integral (PI) speed controller. The proposed solution can overcome the rotor resistance variation, which degrades the performance of speed control. To solve this drawback, an adaptive PI controller is designed with gains adaptation based on fuzzy logic in order to improve the performances of IM with respect to parameters variations, particularly the rotor resistance (Rr). The proposed control algorithm is validated by simulation tests. The obtained results show the robustness towards the load torque disturbances and rotor resistance variation of the adaptive Proportional-Integral fuzzy logic control with respect to classical PI control, and adaptive control based on rotor resistance observer

    Fuzzy Controller Based DTC of SRM Drive Fed by Common High Side Asymmetric Switch Converter

    The switched reluctance motor (SRM) is recently gaining huge popularity in electric vehicle (EV) applications due to its control flexibility, simple structure, lower cost and high efficiency than the synchronous and induction motors. Among all the controllers, the direct torque control (DTC) is the most preferred due to its higher efficiency, lower losses and superior control characteristics. In this paper, a 6/4 pole SRM with fuzzy logic based DTC has been proposed for the EV application along with a converter with reduced switch counts to reduce the torque ripples and enhance the performance of the system under steady and transient state conditions. The proposed system is tested and validated under various scenarios that include load torque and speed variations and compared with the vector control method. From, the investigation it has been found that the proposed technique reduces ripples from the system during all the scenarios with a resultant flux of less than 0.5pu
