M-Hafazan: aplikasi mudah alih untuk pengajian tahfiz

    Get PDF

Implementing total productive maintenance in Nigerian manufacturing industries

    Get PDF
Remarkable improvements have occurred recently in the maintenance management of physical assets and productive systems, so that less wastages of energy and resources occur. The requirement for optimal preventive maintenance using, for instance, justin-time (JIT) and total quality-management (TQM) techniques has given rise to whathas been called the total productive-maintenance (TPM) approach. This study explores the ways in which Nigerian manufacturing industries can implement TPM as a strategy and culture for improving its performance and suggests self-auditing and bench-marking as desirable prerequisites before TPM implementation

Short history of the theories regarding services quality

We could all observe how much has the importance of quality increased in every buyer’s life in the case of a product as well as in the case of a service. The term quality comes from the Latin “qualis”, which means “of the kind that” and it has been used as far back as the antiquity by the philosophers of the period, Cicero and Aristotle (Stanciu, 2005). The first standard related to quality control appeared in 1935 and it was called “Applying the statistical methods to the industrial standardization and to the industrial quality control”. After the Second World War, quality was approached more and more as a managerial function and in 1960 Japan chose the month of November to be the national month of quality, which, in a little while after that, transformed into the month of quality in the world. 1986 is the year in which the first international standard ISO 8402 appeared, standard concerning the terminology in the field of quality. Another important year is 1988 because in the United States of America, the “Malcom Baldrige” National Award for Quality was awarded to Motorola for the first time, due to the performances obtained in the field of quality. Nowadays, when the buyers’ and society’s exigencies are increasingly greater and the competition is much more ruthless, the following can be easily observed: quality has become “the strategic instrument of any company’s global management” because it is what can maintain its loyal customers and, at the same time, attract new buyers for the products or services offered by any company.quality, services, standard, strategy

A systematic algorithm development for image processing feature extraction in automatic visual inspection : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Technology in the Department of Production Technology, Massey University

    Get PDF
Image processing techniques applied to modern quality control are described together with the development of feature extraction algorithms for automatic visual inspection. A real-time image processing hardware system already available in the Department of Production Technology is described and has been tested systematically for establishing an optimal threshold function. This systematic testing has been concerned with edge strength and system noise information. With the a priori information of system signal and noise, non-linear threshold functions have been established for real time edge detection. The performance of adaptive thresholding is described and the usefulness of this nonlinear approach is demonstrated from results using machined test samples. Examination and comparisons of thresholding techniques applied to several edge detection operators are presented. It is concluded that, the Roberts' operator with a non-linear thresholding function has the advantages of being simple, fast, accurate and cost effective in automatic visual inspection

    Cooperatives Quality: evidence from Greece

The study of the role and contribution of ISO 9000 QMS to the corporate strategic development and organisational change and performance improvement of the Greek Agrocoops, as well as the identification and analysis of the drivers and constraints of this system’s effective implementation and efficient use has and/or should have been the subject of increased attention in recent times, as the majority of these organisations face increasing financial and business operating problems over the last three decades, as it was identified in a collective work of Papageorgiou et al, published in “Syneteristiki Poreia” (volumes of years 2000-2003) and the re-configuration of their organisational practices and activities, referring to any management system adapted and applied – e.g. the ISO 9000 QMS, is considered a must for their business survival in the words of Arvanitoyiannis (2001). As a result of the aforementioned facts and due to his current professional status, the researcher decided to focus his DBA research on issues relating to the role and contribution of the quality management systems - and more particularly of the ISO 9000 Quality Management Systems - to the achievement of Greek Agricultural Cooperatives’ corporate strategic goals and organisational performance improvement through the improvement of their business processes. The critical examination of the ISO 9000 – QualityManagement Systems’ implementation process and use purpose by the Agricultural Cooperatives sector in Greece is the broad and general Topic of my Doctorate Research. It is mainly connected with the following two current issues: - on one hand, with the reanimation of the ongoing dialogue and debate concerning the perspectives of the Agricultural Cooperatives in Greece and the future status of the 15% of the country’s active population, which is occupied in the broader agricultural sector (Bank of Greece, 2002), and - on the other hand, with the ever increasing public concern, interest and demand for safer, healthier and quality enhanced food products and services all over the world (ICAP, 2002 and Arvanitoyiannis, 2000)

The Impact of Lean Six Sigma on the Overall Results of Companies

    Get PDF
Lean Six Sigma represents a management approach for driving innovating processes inside a company in order to achieve superior results. It involves a practical analysis based on facts, aiming the innovation and growth, not only the efficiency of processes. It is a long term process of gradual and continuous improvement. The application of Lean Six Sigma in companies led to attaining superior financial performance by addressing new needs, by differentiating the products and services or by adjusting the business lines to new processes. Quality is more than making things without errors. It is about making a product or service meet the individual perception of a customer about the quality or value. Therefore, in what regards Lean Six Sigma, the concern is not only to "do the things right" but also to "do the right things right". We focus on the impact of implementing the Lean Six Sigma approach on companies, seeking for what changes and benefits it brings. The key elements it aims at are achieving the best quality, the lowest cost, getting the shortest lead-time, stressing on waste elimination. The requirements of a company for its implementation and the strategy to obtain the maximum practical outcome are investigated. Furthermore, we conduct a comparison analysis with the other methods of the total quality management and see why Lean Six Sigma is a more desirable approach.Lean Six Sigma, fact-based analysis, innovation, strategy, quality, gradual and continuous process.
