    Community Development Program (CDP) is a required subject in Universitas Gadjah Mada for undergraduate students to earn a bachelor’s degree. One of the big problem in CDP implementation is student placement process into available thematic units. Each unit as much as possible filled by students which have balanced composition based on specified criteria. Balances in gender ratio and clusters composition are needed to have an objective assigned team students in a unit. In this paper, a genetic algorithm is proposed to solve this placement problem.     PENANAMAN KARAKTER CINTA ALAM DALAM KEHIDUPAN SOSIAL MASYARAKAT MELALUI ORGANISASI WONGSALAM (WONGSENENGALAM)

    This study aims to describe the inculcation of the character of love of nature in the social life of the community through the Wongsalam (Wongsenengalam) organization. The research data is in the form of descriptive text that presents the planting of the character of love for nature. Sources of data were obtained by observing, documenting activities, followed by interviews with the chairman and several members, and the last technique was taking notes. The analysis used in the study is in the form of an analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats or commonly called a SWOT analysis. The results of the study show that there are goals in instilling the character of love for nature through: 1) a close sense of solidarity, 2) conveying knowledge about work programs about the importance of caring for the environment and the natural environment, and 3) exemplary protecting nature and the surrounding environment. Research shows that the goals of the Wongsalam organization have a positive impact on its members and get a good response from the surrounding community. Not only that, in addition to gaining useful knowledge at the Wongsalam organization, members can also help preserve nature and help the surrounding community.Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan penanaman karakter cinta alam dalam kehidupan sosial masyarakat melalui organisasi Wongsalam (Wongsenengalam). Data penelitian berupa teks deskripsi yang menyajikan penanaman karakter cinta alam. Sumber data diperoleh dengan melakukan observasi, dokumentasi kegiatan, dilanjutkan wawancara terhadap ketua dan beberapa anggota, serta yang terakhir adalah teknik mencatat. Analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian berupa analisis strength, weaknesss, opportunities, threats atau biasa disebut dengan analisis SWOT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat tujuan dalam penanaman karakter cinta alam melalui: 1) eratnya rasa solidaritas, 2) penyampaian pengetahuan program kerja mengenai pentingnya peduli lingkungan dan alam sekitar, dan 3) keteladanan menjaga alam serta lingkungan sekitar. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tujuan yang dimiliki organisasi Wongsalam meemberikan dampak yang positif bagi anggotanya dan mendapatkan tanggapan yang baik dari masyarakat sekitar. Tak hanya itu, selain mendapatkan ilmu yang bermanfaat di organisassi Wongsalam inilah para anggota dapat membantu menjaga kelestarian alam dan membantu masyarakat di sekitarnya

    This research is about the stigmatization that occurs in adherents of the Pelajar Kawruh Jiwo Indigenous Religious in the city of Surakarta. Stigma is given by other religious groups because it is considered different from the way religious rituals are not like most people. This study aims to describe the form of social stigma and the way adherents of the Pelajar Kawruh Jiwo Indigenous Religious belief manage the stigma given by the people of Surakarta city within the framework of Erving Goffman's sigma theory. The research method used in this research is qualitative method with the type of case study research. Data were collected by observation methods, interviews and literature studies. Researchers found that society stigmatizes adherents of Pelajar Kawruh Jjiwo by being considered a freak, considered shamans who lead to negative things, doing meaningless activities and being considered a bad example. Adherents of the Pelajar Kawruh Jiwo Indigenous Religious carry out stigma management by actively participating in community activities and carrying out activities outside the area of residence.Penelitian ini mengenai stigmatisasi yang terjadi pada penganut penghayat kepercayaan Pelajar Kawruh Jiwo yang berada di kota Surakarta . Stigma diberikan oleh kelompok beragama yang lain karena dianggap berbeda dengan cara ritual keagamaan tidak seperti kebanyakan orang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan bentuk stigma social dan cara penganut penghayat kepercayaan Pelajar Kawruh Jiwo mengelola stigma yang diberikan oleh masyarakat kota Surakarta dalam kerangka teori sigma Erving Goffman. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini  metode kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan dengan metode observasi, wawancara dan studi kepustakaan. Peneliti menemukan masyarakat memberikan stigma pada penganut penghayat Pelajar Kawruh Jiwo dengan dianggap sebagai orang aneh, dianggap dukun yang mengarah hal negative, melakukan kegiatan yang tidak berarti dan dianggap satu contoh yang buruk. Penganut penghayat kepercayaan Pelajar Kawruh Jiwo melakukan pengelolaan stigma dengan ikut serta aktif dalam kegiatan kemasyarakatan dan melakukan kegiatan diluar daerah tinggal

    STRENGTHENING CHARACTER EDUCATION IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WITH INTERNATIONAL CURRICULUM (A Case Study at Bestari Utami Elementary School, Garut)

    Character education is necessary given to children from an early age, to manage their emotions and become individuals who have positive behavior for themselves and their surrounding environment in the future. The implication of good character education will make children do things consciously, committed, and competent, and grow into social beings who help each other, civilized and polite. This research aims to reveal the strengthening of character education for students at Bestari Utami elementary school in Garut. This school applies an entrepreneurial curriculum with international school learning methods, but still concerning character education to students based on the local cultural wisdom of Sundanese. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The primary data obtained through in-depth interviews with school managers and observations of learning activities at SD Bestari Utami. Secondary data obtained through literature and document reviews relevant to the research. Data analysis using interactive data analysis models from Miles and Huberman. The results showed that character education at SD Bestari Utami refers to equality and unity as a fundamental concept of school education. Children deserve to get quality education regardless of their ethnic, religion, and economic background. Strengthening character values based on Pancasila that comprises religious values, nationalism, independence, integrity, and cooperation are embodied through cultural arts lessons that are included in the school curriculum, as well as implementing learning that motivates children to be independent and able to work together with their friends. This study concludes that character education will be effective and give an impact if applied to students and school managers

    The implementation of feedback to facilitate students’ self-regulation in learning English in Madrasah Aliyah context

    Feedback is necessary to measure whether students have understood well the lesson that has been delivered. Students should be given feedback to help them become autonomous learners who can regulate aspects of their thinking, motivation, and behaviour during learning. The study aimed to find out how feedback is implemented by the teacher based on Nicol’s framework and to find out students’ perceptions towards the application of formative assessment. A questionnaire was administered to get the data on how feedback that facilitates students’ self-regulation is implemented at MA Negeri 2 Kota Palu. Further, an in-depth interview was used to get students’ perception towards the implementation of feedback. The questionnaire showed that the implementation of feedback at MA Negeri 2 Kota Palu helps clarify what good performance is, facilitates the development of self-assessment in learning, delivers high quality information to students about their learning, encourages teacher and peer dialogue around learning, encourages positive motivational beliefs and self-esteem, and provides opportunities to close the gap between current and desired performance. The interview revealed that students have positive perception towards the feedback implemented by the teacher.Umpan balik diperlukan untuk mengukur apakah siswa telah memahami dengan baik pelajaran yang telah disampaikan. Siswa harus diberikan umpan balik untuk membantu mereka menjadi pembelajar mandiri yang dapat mengatur aspek pemikiran, motivasi dan perilaku mereka selama belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana umpan balik diimplementasikan oleh guru berdasarkan kerangka kerja Nicol dan untuk mengetahui persepsi siswa terhadap penerapan penilaian formatif. Kuesioner diberikan untuk mendapatkan data bagaimana umpan balik yang memfasilitasi pengaturan diri siswa dilaksanakan di MA Negeri 2 Kota Palu, dan wawancara mendalam digunakan untuk mendapatkan data persepsi siswa terhadap pelaksanaan umpan balik. Kuesioner menunjukkan bahwa penerapan umpan balik di MA Negeri 2 Kota Palu membantu memperjelas apa kinerja yang baik, memfasilitasi pengembangan penilaian diri dalam pembelajaran, memberikan informasi berkualitas tinggi kepada siswa tentang pembelajaran mereka, mendorong dialog guru dan teman sebaya seputar pembelajaran, mendorong keyakinan motivasi positif dan harga diri, dan memberikan peluang untuk menutup kesenjangan antara kinerja saat ini dan yang diinginkan. Hasil wawancara menunjukkan bahwa siswa memiliki persepsi yang positif terhadap umpan balik yang dilakukan oleh guru

    The model which was widely known and describes the concept of service quality is the Service Quality (SERVQUAL) model proposed by Parasuraman et al (1985). However, this model has a limitation, because its application merely for service providers in the business sector, not for service providers in the public sector and service providers in the education sector. In education sector, facilitators are always involved in interpersonal interaction with the training participants. Some researchers agree to uncover the relationship between the emotional intelligence of service providers and service quality. Based on the literature review, there are limited studies in the field of education and training of the Civil Service Apparatus, especially regarding the relationship between emotional intelligence and service quality. Thus, this study aims to reveal the effect of facilitators’ emotional intelligence on service quality with respondents from participants of Basic Education and Training (Diklatsar), Leadership Education and Training 3 (Diklatpim 3), and Leadership and Education Training 4 (Diklatpim 4) at HRDA Province. This study uses quantitative methods. The sample size in this study was 462 people who were collected through a survey with a purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique used is SEM through a two-stage approach. The results showed that the facilitators’ emotional intelligence of  HRDA of Central Java, East Java, West Java,   Jakarta, Banten, Central Sulawesi, and North Sumatera Provinces,  had a significant positive effect on the quality of service with social awareness as the indicator with the highest effect

    INSTITUTIONAL COORDINATION OF FLOOD CONTROL AT MEDAN CITY IN MEBIDANGRO COOPERATION SCHEME

    Flood management system in Medan City is very poor, because there is no institutional coordination resulting from sectoral egos. Effective institutional coordination in urban flood management is needed. Condition is based on problem of flooding in Medan City which has not been effectively implemented, so an alternative solution for integrated urban flood management is needed. Purpose of this research is to explain implementation of flood control policies in Medan City and how coordinate flood control institutions in Medan City in Mebidangro cooperation scheme. This type of qualitative research with descriptive methods is used in this research. Primary data collection techniques with deep interviews through FGD activities with stakeholders. In addition, secondary data is collected by citing journals, books, documents, online media, and other materials support research. Data analysis techniques are carried out through data reduction activities, data display and drawing conclusions. Results showed implementation Presidential Regulation No. 62 of 2011 on flood control in Medan City has not been optimally implemented. Condition is influenced lack of understanding authority and lack of coordination between related agencies to safeguard river basins, river norms and establish primary drainage channels. In addition, coordination of Medan City flood control institution in Mebidangro cooperation scheme has been carried out in a procedural manner. However, actualization still requires visionary leadership and command to support success program

    Bringing The Poster Presentation Model into Classroom

    Making students to speak English in a large classroom becomes a big challenge for teachers. On one hand, there is no enough time for all students speak equally. On the other hand, most students are lack of confidence and English competence. As a result, the students tend to be reluctant toward the speaking activities. There have been many research under the speaking classroom activities, however, modeling professional activity into classrooms has been rare. The recent action research on a Poster Presentation model aims to make students participate in the classroom activities actively by considering their characteristics. From the individual interview and classroom observations of the 17 passive students enrolled on the four Speaking for Academic Purposes classrooms at Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University, Indonesia, the researchers found that the Poster Presentation model with two rules applied, i.e. no talk no grade and interrelated questions motivated the students’ participation in the speaking classroom activities. However, the Poster Presentation model did not work on those who have never experienced in natural speaking practices before. Thus, managing the classroom using the present model brings double facets among students
