    A real-time visualization of AN/PSS-14 audio alert signals for land mine detection validation

    The central idea of the current research is visualization of audio alerts from AN/PSS-14. A visualization device connected to the arm of PSS-14 will show real-time display of MD and GPR Audio Alert signals from PSS-14. This visualization device displays both amplitude-time and spectral frequency-time formats of the signals. The latter format achieves visual separation of combined, simultaneous, MD and GPR alerts. The joint occurrence of MD and GPR signals in a specific time window confirms the presence of landmine. This window is defined by the time of occurrence of MD peak and time of occurrence GPR diffraction from onset edge of buried landmine. The visual recognition of this window on a visualization device validates the presence of landmine and helps in clutter rejection --Abstract, page iii

    Digital planning of composite customized veneers using Digital Smile Design: Evaluation of its accuracy and manufacturing

    Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the production of customized composite veneers starting from a two-dimensional (2D) digital preview using the Digital Smile System (DSS). MaterialĀ and Methods: A photographic examination of 30 patients was performed by taking two digital pictures of the face and a digital preview through the DSS. Moreover, optical scans of the dental arches were obtained and the data were entered into a three-dimensional (3D) software to prepare a virtual preview. The standard tessellation language files were sent for production using CAD-CAM technology. The Friedman test, Bonferroni, and Dunn post hoc tests were used, comparing the linear measurements of the 2D and 3D plans and the final veneers (Ī± =.05). Results: Significant differences emerged between the pictures and digital scans on the mesialā€“distal widths of the lateral incisors and canine. Linear measurements in the 2D plan were significantly different from those of the 3D plan, except for the height measures of incisors. No significant changes were found on comparing the parameters of the 2D and 3D plans with those of the final pieces. Conclusions: The customized veneers were clinically adequate and similar to 2D and 3D plans, although significant differences emerged between the picture and digital scans as well as between the 2D and 3D plans

    Advanced photonic and electronic systems - WILGA 2017

    WILGA annual symposium on advanced photonic and electronic systems has been organized by young scientist for young scientists since two decades. It traditionally gathers more than 350 young researchers and their tutors. Ph.D students and graduates present their recent achievements during well attended oral sessions. Wilga is a very good digest of Ph.D. works carried out at technical universities in electronics and photonics, as well as information sciences throughout Poland and some neighboring countries. Publishing patronage over Wilga keep Elektronika technical journal by SEP, IJET by PAN and Proceedings of SPIE. The latter world editorial series publishes annually more than 200 papers from Wilga. Wilga 2017 was the XL edition of this meeting. The following topical tracks were distinguished: photonics, electronics, information technologies and system research.     Traditional, 2D and 3D Workflows: What Is Better for Aesthetic Rehabilitation of Superior Anterior Teeth?

    This study aimed to compare conventional, digital 2D and digital 3D workflows as possible aesthetic rehabilitation processes for the maxillary anterior area using ā€œopen-sourceā€ software. For the conventional workflow, a diagnostic wax-up was produced by a dental technician. For the 2D digital workflow, Keynote software (version 11.1) was used to perform digital aesthetic analysis and smile planning. Measurements were taken and used by the technician to obtain a dental wax-up. For the 3D session, a plaster model was scanned and used to perform 3D analysis and the guide for the mock-up was digitally printed. Symmetry and aesthetic parameters were assessed for each mock-up, and the opinion of dental professionals and laypeople about the aesthetic outcome of three mockups was assessed by an anonymous questionnaire. The 2D mock-up received the highest score, and this mock-up was found to be the most symmetrical, even though it had the longest operating times. There was a statistically significant difference (p = 0.000) between the scores given to this picture: experts in the dental field gave lower scores compared with non-professionals. Digital planning of aesthetic rehabilitation represents a technologically innovative procedure in dental practice, making it possible to achieve excellent aesthetic results, even when using open-source software
