Presentamos a la comunidad académica este nuevo volumen de la Revista Colombiana de Computación para el cual se han seleccionado los artículos mejor evaluados en el Congreso EATIS 2006 (Congreso Euroamericano de Telemática y Sistemas de Información), el cuál se llevó a cabo en la ciudad de Santa Marta, Colombia, del 7 al 10 de febrero de 2006 y que contó con el respaldo de las asociaciones IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, ACM y Sociedad Brasilera de Computación.Han pasado cinco años desde el nacimiento de la Revista Colombiana de Computación, lo cual nos lleva a reflexionar sobre esta experiencia. Hemos producido 10 números que cubren diversos temas de la computación, contando con autores de aproximadamente 15 países. La revista se encuentra indexada ante el índice colombiano de revistas, Publindex, su información esta disponible en el Sistema Regional de Información en Línea para Revistas Científicas de América Latina, el Caribe, España y Portugal, Latindex, así como en bases de datos bibliográficas tales como Computer Science Bibliography (DBLP) y the Collection of Computer Science Bibliographies. Creemos que en cierta manera hemos logrado nuestro objetivo inicial de convocar a la comunidad científica colombiana y latinoamericana en el área de la computación, buscando impulsar las ciencias de la computación en el país. Otro de los objetivos de la revista fue promover la creación de una sociedad colombiana de computación. En este frente tuvimos el honor de estar invitados en el Primer Congreso Colombiano de Computación celebrado en Cali en Octubre de 2005, en el marco del XXXI Congreso Latinoamericano de Informática, donde se firmó un acta de compromiso para la creación de dicha sociedad. Se planteó también un esquema de trabajo en el cual la revista sería manejada por la futura Sociedad Colombiana de Computación y la Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga, UNAB. Todo esto conllevará a futuros cambios en la estructura editorial, cambios que estaremos informando en próximas ediciones.Five years have passed since the birth of the Colombian Journal of Computing, what which leads us to reflect on this experience. We have produced 10 issues covering various computing topics, with authors from approximately 15 countries. The magazine is indexed before the Colombian index of magazines, Publindex, its information is available in the Regional Online Information System for Scientific Journals of Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal, Latindex, as well as in databases such as the Computer Science Bibliography (DBLP) and the Collection of Computer Science Bibliographies. We believe that in a certain way we have achieved our initial objective of convening the Colombian and Latin American scientific community in the area of computing, seeking to promote computer science in the country. Another of the objectives of the magazine was to promote the creation of a Colombian society of computing. On this front we had the honor of being invited to the First Congress Colombian Computing Conference held in Cali in October 2005, within the framework of the XXXI Latin American Computer Science Congress, where an act of commitment was signed for the creation of said company. A work scheme was also proposed in which the magazine would be managed by the future Colombian Computing Society and the University Autonomous of Bucaramanga, UNAB. All this will lead to future changes in the structure editorial, changes that we will be reporting in future editions

Un cordial saludo de parte de la Revista Colombiana de Computación y de todos sus colaboradores, con los mejores deseos para el año 2002. Queremos compartir con ustedes las novedades que hemos tenido. En este momento la revista se encuentra referenciada en el DBLP Computer Science Bibliography1 (Digital Bibliography and Library Project) y en la Collection of Computer Science Bibliographies2 . Como otra novedad, la revista incluye un formato para suscripción, tanto a nivel nacional como internacional. Aprovechamos también la oportunidad para agradecer la colaboración de nuestro anterior editor ejecutivo, Guillermo Rueda Rueda, quien se ha trasladado a Portland State University, en Estados Unidos. Para llenar este vacío, los editores asociados asumen el papel del editor ejecutivo. Paralelo a la revista, se están iniciando los pasos para la conformación de una Sociedad Colombiana de Computación. La importancia de la tecnología de información y específicamente de las ciencias de la computación en nuestra sociedad ha sido enorme. Ella ha facilitado y creado tendencias mundiales como la globalización y la informatización de la sociedad. Con esta importancia es lógico que los países, y en especial sus universidades y centros de investigación, se preocupen por el desarrollo y la divulgación de proyectos en las áreas que impulsen el desarrollo de sus regiones. En Colombia no existe, en nuestro campo, una revista de nivel nacional y carácter netamente académico que apoye la divulgación de esos trabajos. Con esta Revista Colombiana de Computación, que ponemos en circulación, se pretende llenar este vacío, a la vez que se quiere ayudar a la formación de redes de investigadores colombianos con investigadores latinoamericanos y de otros países.The importance of information technology and specifically of computer science in our society has been enormous. She has facilitated and created world trends such as globalization and the computerization of society. With this importance, it is logical that the countries, and especially their universities and research centers, are concerned with the development and dissemination of projects in the areas that promote the development of their regions. In Colombia, in our field, there is no national level journal of a purely academic nature that supports the dissemination of these works. With this Colombian Journal of Computing, which we put into circulation, it is intended to fill this gap, while at the same time helping to form networks of Colombian researchers with researchers from Latin America and other countries

Fog Computing en el contexto de Smart Home, asistente de voz y futuro de IoT

Fog Computing is the distributed computing layer that lies between the user and the cloud. A successful fog architecture reduces delay or latency and increases efficiency. This paper describes the development and implementation of a distributed computing architecture applied to an automation environment that uses Fog Computing as an intermediary with the cloud computing layer. This study used a Raspberry Pi V3 board connected to end control elements such as servomotors and relays, indicators and thermal sensors. All is controlled by an automation framework that receives orders from Siri and executes them through predetermined instructions. The cloud connection benefits from a reduced amount of data transmission, because it only receives relevant information for analysis.Fog Computing es la capa de computación distribuida más próxima al usuario. Una arquitectura fog exitosa permite reducir el retardo o latencia y aumenta la eficiencia. En este artículo se expone el desarrollo e implementación de una arquitectura de computación distribuida, aplicada a un entorno de automatización que aprovecha el Fog Computing como intermediario con la capa de computación en la nube. El estudio utilizó una placa de desarrollo Raspberry Pi V3 conectada a elementos finales de control como servomotor y relés, indicadores y sensores térmicos. Todo controlado por un framework de automatización que recibe las órdenes de Siri, las cuales son ejecutadas por medio de instrucciones previamente determinadas. La conexión a la nube se beneficia al reducirse el envío de datos ya que ahora solo se recibe la información relevante para su análisis
