Uncertainty is widely spread in real-world data. Uncertain data-in computer science-is typically found in the area of sensor networks where the sensors sense the environment with certain error. Mining and visualizing uncertain data is one of the new challenges that face uncertain databases. This paper presents a new intelligent hybrid algorithm that applies fuzzy set theory into the context of the Self-Organizing Map to mine and visualize uncertain objects. The algorithm is tested in some benchmark problems and the uncertain traffics in Named Data Networking (NDN). Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm is precise and effective in terms of the applied performance criteria.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

A Simulation Model for Strategic Planning In Asset Management of Electricity Distribution Network

    Get PDF
Asset management of electricity distribution network is required in order to improve the network reliability so as to reduce electricity energy distribution losses. Due to strategic asset management requires long-term predictions; it would require a simulation model. Simulation of asset management is an approach to predict the consequences of long-term financing on maintenance and renewal strategies in electrical energy distribution networks. In this research, the simulation method used is System Dynamics based on consideration that this method enables us to consider internal and external influenced factors. To obtain the model parameter, we utilized PLN Pamekasan for the case study. The results showed the reduction of low voltage network assets condition on average in the range 6% per year, the average decline in the transformer condition is approximately 6.6% per year, and the average decline in the condition of medium voltage network assets is approximately 4.4% per year. In general, the average technical losses average of 1,359,981.60 KWH / month or about 16,319,779.24 KWH / year

    Culture boundaries in semantic web

Dissertation submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Master of Science in Geospatial Technologies.Culture, being created by any and every of us, is the expression form of the society. We easily manipulate this term in everyday life, but defining the culture brings a lot of discussions in between scientists. The most common approach of understanding culture is from anthropologists (Harris & Johnson, 2006; Tylor, 1871) who associate culture with the common developed complex pattern of the society life expressed through knowledge, believes, art, morality, laws, traditions and other features. Approaching extinct cultures all this can be found and interpreted just from archaeological artefacts. Despite many culture definitions, the spatio-temporal aspect of culture is brought mostly by archaeologists. All in all the culture and cultural area understandings remain very fuzzy, though culture area is always formalized as a crispy one. Due to such fuzziness, author would guess, there was no hurry for cultural area or boundary digitalization as it happened with other cultural data in Europe within last decades. The cultural boundary question stayed 'taboo' in semantic web also, that is recently developing for cultural data in order to help to represent the meaning in a restricted sense. It is therefore in this thesis the culture boundary representation in semantic web is analyzed

The agricultural commodities company nowadays strive to keep transforming their business processes in accordance with the fast changing demands to survive the intense global competition. In an attempt to provide stakeholder with an insight business process, this paper investigates how to model business processes with Business Process Modelling Notation and assesses the process maturity using Gartners model. This research is based on an in-depth observation at purchasing and production division of agricultural commodities company. It is found the business process model presents the knowledge from business in existing context. The other findings show the maturity level of the people is on phase 1, the maturity level of IT achieves phase including strategic alignment, culture and leadership, governance and methods have already arrived phase 2. These findings will help company to do big planning for improvement in the future

A Bibliometric Overview of the Field of Type-2 Fuzzy Sets and Systems [Discussion Forum]

© 2005-2012 IEEE. Fuzzy Sets and Systems is an area of computational intelligence, pioneered by Lotfi Zadeh over 50 years ago in a seminal paper in Information and Control. Fuzzy Sets (FSs) deal with uncertainty in our knowledge of a particular situation. Research and applications in FSs have grown steadily over 50 years. More recently, we have seen a growth in Type-2 Fuzzy Set (T2 FS) related papers, where T2 FSs are utilized to handle uncertainty in realworld problems. In this paper, we have used bibliometric methods to obtain a broad overview of the area of T2 FSs. This method analyzes information on the bibliographic details of published journal papers, which includes title, authors, author address, journals and citations, extracted from the Science and Social Science Citation Indices in the Web of Science (WoS) database for the last 20 years (1997-2017). We have compared the growth of publications in the field of FSs, and its subset T2 FSs, identified highly cited papers in T2 FSs, highly cited authors, key institutions, and main countries with researchers involved in T2 FS related research
