The habeas corpus protection of Joseph Smith from Missouri arrest requisitions

    Get PDF
This is the first of two articles discussing Missouri’s requisitions to extradite Joseph Smith to face criminal charges and the Prophet’s recourse to English habeas corpus practice to defend himself. In this article, the author presents research rejecting the suggestion that the habeas corpus powers of the Nauvoo City Council were irregular and explains why the idea that the Nauvoo Municipal Court lacked jurisdiction to consider interstate habeas corpus matters is anachronistic. In the second article, the author analyzes the conduct of Missouri Governor Thomas Reynolds in relation to the requisitions for Joseph Smith’s extradition. Even by the standards of the day, given what he knew, his conduct was unethical

Equivalence of Resource/Opportunity Egalitarianism and Welfare Egalitarianism in Quasilinear Domains

We study the allocation of indivisible goods when monetary transfers are possible and preferences are quasilinear. We show that the only allocation mechanism (upto Pareto-indifference) that satisfies the axioms supporting resource and opportunity egalitarianism is the one that equalizes the welfares. We present alternative characterizations, and budget properties of this mechanism and discuss how it would ensure fair compensation in government requisitions and condemnations.egalitarianism, egalitarian-equivalence, no-envy, distributive justice, allocation of indivisible goods and money, fair auctions, the Groves mechanisms, strategy-proofness, population monotonicity, cost monotonicity, government requisitions, eminent domain

On Solving Travelling Salesman Problem with Vertex Requisitions

We consider the Travelling Salesman Problem with Vertex Requisitions, where for each position of the tour at most two possible vertices are given. It is known that the problem is strongly NP-hard. The proposed algorithm for this problem has less time complexity compared to the previously known one. In particular, almost all feasible instances of the problem are solvable in O(n) time using the new algorithm, where n is the number of vertices. The developed approach also helps in fast enumeration of a neighborhood in the local search and yields an integer programming model with O(n) binary variables for the problem.Comment: To appear in Yugoslav Journal of Operations Researc

Impact of a training program on the compliance of hemotherapy requirements in a University Hospital: Impacto de um programa de treinamento sobre o cumprimento dos requisitos de hemoterapia em um Hospital Universitário

The processes of blood management, transfusion therapy, transfusion agencies and blood centers have specific observances regulated by ANVISA. To promote the technical and managerial improvement of these services, the National Hemorrede Qualification Program was developed, which consists of technical consultations and use of a script for conformity assessment in different areas, among them, document quality analysis. Based on the model of this program, the local transfusion agency carried out a study of the compliance of blood components requisitions. Two stages of data collection were carried out, one before (Phase 1) and another after (Phase 2) the training of prescribing professionals. With the training program, we obtained an increase in fully compliant requisitions, 15% in Phase 1 and 38% in Phase 2. Despite the result pointing to an increase in the quality of filling in requisitions, there are still points for improvement to be applied by the hemotherapy prescribers. The positive result achieved with just one event suggests that regular training could add more knowledge to prescribers and reflect on the quality of filling out requisitions

MS-079: Captain Benjamin F. Lee Collection regarding 28th Pennsylvania Infantry and John W. Geary

The Benjamin F. Lee Collection consists of three series which contain documents relating to requisitions by the 28th Pennsylvania Infantry and correspondence of Lee and John W. Geary between themselves and various other individuals. Special Collections and College Archives Finding Aids are discovery tools used to describe and provide access to our holdings. Finding aids include historical and biographical information about each collection in addition to inventories of their content. More information about our collections can be found on our website http://www.gettysburg.edu/special_collections/collections/.https://cupola.gettysburg.edu/findingaidsall/1072/thumbnail.jp

    Improvement of radiology requisition

    Get PDF
AbstractPurposeInadequate or incomplete information on radiology requisitions may have a substantial impact on the radiological process. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of standardization and computerization of radiology requisitions on the quality of provided data, satisfaction of hospital staff and access time.MethodsThe impact of requisition support was assessed at each step of the improvement process for inpatients: before (Step 1), after standardization (Step 2) and after computerization of radiology requisition (Step 3). The quality of information provided was assessed by proportion of missing data on MRI and CT requisitions. Satisfaction was assessed by an anonymous auto-questionnaire filled by ordering physicians, radiologists and radiology technicians. Access time was prospectively assessed.ResultsStandardization of radiology requisition resulted in a significant drop in proportion of missing data. Computerization of radiology requisition, based on the single standardized radiology requisition, further improved the quality of information reported on radiology requisitions. The median access time was significantly improved (from 5 to 3days) for the largest provider of CT requisitions.ConclusionsStandardization and computerization have a synergistic effect on the overall quality improvement. Moreover, the computerized provider order entry enables traceability of information, makes communication between radiologists and ordering physicians easier and improves examination planning

RAT Requisition Approval Team - A L6S Initiative

L6S Project Description - Problem: The current cycle time for generating and approving Requisitions does not meet "Best-In-Class." . Scope: Only looking at the Florida Requisition Approval process for Orbiter (ORBF & ORBG) and Ground (GFAC) stocked items. This includes the time from when a requirement is generated by Logistics Planning and Supportability in Florida until it is approved and received by Procurement. Requisitions generated at other sites or for non stocked items will be out of scope of this Projec

    Optimal Recombination in Genetic Algorithms

This paper surveys results on complexity of the optimal recombination problem (ORP), which consists in finding the best possible offspring as a result of a recombination operator in a genetic algorithm, given two parent solutions. We consider efficient reductions of the ORPs, allowing to establish polynomial solvability or NP-hardness of the ORPs, as well as direct proofs of hardness results
