A new automated workflow for 3D character creation based on 3D scanned data
In this paper we present a new workflow allowing the creation of 3D characters in an automated way that does not require the expertise of an animator. This workflow is based of the acquisition of real human data captured by 3D body scanners, which is them processed to generate firstly animatable body meshes, secondly skinned body meshes and finally textured 3D garments
Human motion modeling and simulation by anatomical approach
To instantly generate desired infinite realistic human motion is still a great challenge in virtual human simulation. In this paper, the novel emotion effected motion classification and anatomical motion classification are presented, as well as motion capture and parameterization methods. These models, often represented by complex shape and requiring labor-intensive process, challenge the problem of automatic modeling. A physically-based muscle and skin model for facial animation
Facial animation is a popular area of research which has been around for over thirty years, but even with this long time scale, automatically creating realistic facial expressions is still an unsolved goal. This work furthers the state of the art in computer facial animation by introducing a new muscle and skin model and a method of easily transferring a full muscle and bone animation setup from one head mesh to another with very little user input.
The developed muscle model allows muscles of any shape to be accurately simulated, preserving volume during contraction and interacting with surrounding muscles and skin in a lifelike manner. The muscles can drive a rigid body model of a jaw, giving realistic physically-based movement to all areas of the face.
The skin model has multiple layers, mimicking the natural structure of skin and it connects onto the muscle model and is deformed realistically by the movements of the muscles and underlying bones. The skin smoothly transfers underlying movements into skin surface movements and propagates forces smoothly across the face.
Once a head model has been set up with muscles and bones, moving this muscle and bone set to another head is a simple matter using the developed techniques. The developed software employs principles from forensic reconstruction, using specific landmarks on the head to map the bone and muscles to the new head model and once the muscles and skull have been quickly transferred, they provide animation capabilities on the new mesh within minutes
HeadOn: Real-time Reenactment of Human Portrait Videos
We propose HeadOn, the first real-time source-to-target reenactment approach
for complete human portrait videos that enables transfer of torso and head
motion, face expression, and eye gaze. Given a short RGB-D video of the target
actor, we automatically construct a personalized geometry proxy that embeds a
parametric head, eye, and kinematic torso model. A novel real-time reenactment
algorithm employs this proxy to photo-realistically map the captured motion
from the source actor to the target actor. On top of the coarse geometric
proxy, we propose a video-based rendering technique that composites the
modified target portrait video via view- and pose-dependent texturing, and
creates photo-realistic imagery of the target actor under novel torso and head
poses, facial expressions, and gaze directions. To this end, we propose a
robust tracking of the face and torso of the source actor. We extensively
evaluate our approach and show significant improvements in enabling much

Animating Virtual Human for Virtual Batik Modeling
This research paper describes a development of animating virtual human for virtual
batik modeling project. The objectives of this project are to animate the virtual
human, to map the cloth with the virtual human body, to present the batik cloth, and
to evaluate the application in terms of realism of virtual human look, realism of
virtual human movement, realism of 3D scene, application suitability, application
usability, fashion suitability and user acceptance. The final goal is to accomplish an
animated virtual human for virtual batik modeling. There are 3 essential phases
which research and analysis (data collection of modeling and animating technique),
development (model and animate virtual human, map cloth to body and add a music)
and evaluation (evaluation of realism of virtual human look, realism of virtual human
movement, realism of props, application suitability, application usability, fashion
suitability and user acceptance). The result for application usability is the highest
percentage which 90%. Result show that this application is useful to the people. In
conclusion, this project has met the objective, which the realism is achieved by used a
suitable technique for modeling and animating
A framework for natural animation of digitized models
We present a novel versatile, fast and simple framework to generate highquality animations of scanned human characters from input motion data. Our method is purely mesh-based and, in contrast to skeleton-based animation, requires only a minimum of manual interaction. The only manual step that is required to create moving virtual people is the placement of a sparse set of correspondences between triangles of an input mesh and triangles of the mesh to be animated. The proposed algorithm implicitly generates realistic body deformations, and can easily transfer motions between human erent shape and proportions. erent types of input data, e.g. other animated meshes and motion capture les, in just the same way. Finally, and most importantly, it creates animations at interactive frame rates. We feature two working prototype systems that demonstrate that our method can generate lifelike character animations from both marker-based and marker-less optical motion capture data
