Real-time all-optical OFDM transmission system based on time-domain optical fourier transformation
We propose a novel simple all-optical OFDM transmission system based on timedomain OFT using time-lenses. A real-time 160 Gbit/s DPSK OFDM transmission with 16 decorrelated data subcarriers is successfully demonstrated over 100 km.</p
Information Transmission using the Nonlinear Fourier Transform, Part III: Spectrum Modulation
Motivated by the looming "capacity crunch" in fiber-optic networks,
information transmission over such systems is revisited. Among numerous
distortions, inter-channel interference in multiuser wavelength-division
multiplexing (WDM) is identified as the seemingly intractable factor limiting
the achievable rate at high launch power. However, this distortion and similar
ones arising from nonlinearity are primarily due to the use of methods suited
for linear systems, namely WDM and linear pulse-train transmission, for the
nonlinear optical channel. Exploiting the integrability of the nonlinear
Schr\"odinger (NLS) equation, a nonlinear frequency-division multiplexing
(NFDM) scheme is presented, which directly modulates non-interacting signal
degrees-of-freedom under NLS propagation. The main distinction between this and
previous methods is that NFDM is able to cope with the nonlinearity, and thus,
as the the signal power or transmission distance is increased, the new method
does not suffer from the deterministic cross-talk between signal components
which has degraded the performance of previous approaches. In this paper,
emphasis is placed on modulation of the discrete component of the nonlinear
Fourier transform of the signal and some simple examples of achievable spectral
efficiencies are provided.Comment: Updated version of IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, vol. 60,

Performance analysis of modified asymmetrically-clipped optical orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing systems
A modification to the Asymmetrically-Clipped Optical Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (ACO-OFDM) technique is proposed through unipolar encoding. A performance analysis of the Bit Error Rate (BER) is developed and Monte Carlo simulations are carried out to verify the analysis. Results are compared to that of the corresponding ACO-OFDM system under the same bit energy and transmission rate; an improvement of 1 dB is obtained at a BER of 10-4. In addition, the performance of the proposed system in the presence of atmospheric turbulence is investigated using single-input multiple-output (SIMO) configuration and its performance under that environment is compared to that of ACO-OFDM. Energy improvements of 4 dB and 2.2 dB are obtained at a BER of 10-4 for SIMO systems of 1 and 2 photodetectors at the receiver for the case of strong turbulence, respectively
Development of a dc-ac power conditioner for wind generator by using neural network
This project present of development single phase DC-AC converter for wind
generator application. The mathematical model of the wind generator and Artificial
Neural Network control for DC-AC converter is derived. The controller is designed to
stabilize the output voltage of DC-AC converter. To verify the effectiveness of the
proposal controller, both simulation and experimental are developed. The simulation and
experimental result show that the amplitude of output voltage of the DC-AC converter
can be controlled
Does the Cross-Talk Between Nonlinear Modes Limit the Performance of NFDM Systems?
We show a non-negligible cross-talk between nonlinear modes in Nonlinear
Frequency-Division Multiplexed system when data is modulated over the nonlinear
Fourier spectrum, both the continuous spectrum and the discrete spectrum, and
transmitted over a lumped amplified fiber link. We evaluate the performance
loss if the cross-talks are neglected.Comment: Invited paper, European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC
