    Extending ACL2 with SMT Solvers

We present our extension of ACL2 with Satisfiability Modulo Theories (SMT) solvers using ACL2's trusted clause processor mechanism. We are particularly interested in the verification of physical systems including Analog and Mixed-Signal (AMS) designs. ACL2 offers strong induction abilities for reasoning about sequences and SMT complements deduction methods like ACL2 with fast nonlinear arithmetic solving procedures. While SAT solvers have been integrated into ACL2 in previous work, SMT methods raise new issues because of their support for a broader range of domains including real numbers and uninterpreted functions. This paper presents Smtlink, our clause processor for integrating SMT solvers into ACL2. We describe key design and implementation issues and describe our experience with its use.Comment: In Proceedings ACL2 2015, arXiv:1509.0552

ILP-based approaches to partitioning recurrent workloads upon heterogeneous multiprocessors

    Get PDF
The problem of partitioning systems of independent constrained-deadline sporadic tasks upon heterogeneous multiprocessor platforms is considered. Several different integer linear program (ILP) formulations of this problem, offering different tradeoffs between effectiveness (as quantified by speedup bound) and running time efficiency, are presented

    A reliable data collection/control system

The Cal Poly Space Project requires a data collection/control system which must be able to reliably record temperature, pressure and vibration data. It must also schedule the 16 electroplating and 2 immiscible alloy experiments so as to optimize use of the batteries, maintain a safe package temperature profile, and run the experiment during conditions of microgravity (and minimum vibration). This system must operate unattended in the harsh environment of space and consume very little power due to limited battery supply. The design of a system which meets these requirements is addressed

Design of an analog/digital truly random number generator

    Get PDF
An analog-digital system is presented for the generation of truly random (aperiodic) digital sequences. This model is based on a very simple piecewise-linear discrete map which is suitable for implementation using monolithic analog sampled-data techniques. Simulation results are given illustrating the optimum choice of the model parameters. Circuit implementations are reported for the discrete map using both switched-capacitor (SC) and switched-current (SI) techniques. The layout of a SI prototype in a 3-μm n-well double-polysilicon double-metal technology is included

The F-18 systems research aircraft facility

    Get PDF
To help ensure that new aerospace initiatives rapidly transition to competitive U.S. technologies, NASA Dryden Flight Research Facility has dedicated a systems research aircraft facility. The primary goal is to accelerate the transition of new aerospace technologies to commercial, military, and space vehicles. Key technologies include more-electric aircraft concepts, fly-by-light systems, flush airdata systems, and advanced computer architectures. Future aircraft that will benefit are the high-speed civil transport and the National AeroSpace Plane. This paper describes the systems research aircraft flight research vehicle and outlines near-term programs
