When I asked her if she would be so kind as to name me the standard instruction textbook used for nursing education and practice, she unhesitatingly replied: \u27There isn’t one. Because there are so many content areas in nursing, there is no one text that is considered the ultimate one that must be used by all.\u27 And when further asked about the \u27reference work for the history of nursing in the US\u27 her reply was: \u27I don’t think there is one most reliable source.\u27 So there I was, my puzzlement now confirmed by a knowledgeable authority
Employed nurse's awareness about nursing sighted tasks
Setting the nurse's sighted tasks and clarifying communicative lines and their purposes help effectively to establish appropriate working conditions. Approved nurse's sighted tasks are sensible and necessary for all nursing rankings and levels. Regarding this, a research for determining the nurses' awareness about nursing sighted tasks was conducted in internal and surgical wards in Tabriz selected hospitals. This survey was a descriptive study. 298 nurses were studied through a questionnaire that contained 40 questions in the form of self - reporting check list. 21 questions of 40 questions of the questionnaire were nursing sighted tasks; 19 ones were not. Reliability of the test was analyzed by SPSS14 statistical software during the study on 20 nurses. Inner correlation coefficient of questioner was 0.88. Most of the nurses were female (90.3%) and 69.5% married. 98.7% bachelor in nursing, and 90.9% of the nurses had BSc in nursing, 60.7% were under the professional responsibility insurance, and worked as nurses, respectively. The averages of nurses' ages and working background in nursing profession were 5.9 +/- 33.6 years and 73.13 +/- 108.3 months, respectively. Most of the nurses had average awareness about nursing sighted tasks, and Just 7.4% and 11.4% had low and good awareness. 67.4% and 29.9% of the subjects had known the presence of nursing duties composition very necessary and necessary. Overall, 97.3% of them have known the presence of duties composition very necessary and essential, and so these ones tended to be aware of their duties composition. Just 24.2% of the nurses had stated that there exists nursing duties composition. These cases can indicate the low level in-service education periods and also low nurses academic educations in this field. There are often ambiguous points in nursing activities which are arisen from working interferences with the other medicine professions in hospitals. Nurses are expected to do some procedure which is not their sighted tasks or they have not been trained enough about. Nurses ` activities in the affairs out of their sighted tasks and have done by system pressure have frequently led to complain of the nurses, and so this issue faces the nurses with so many difficulties. Charlotte Seymour Yapp
Charlotte Seymour Yapp was born in October 1879, in Ardwick, Manchester, to Moses Yapp, a railway guard, and his wife, Sophia (nee Seymour), a seamstress. She trained as a nurse at Aston Union Poor Law Infirmary at Erdington, near Birmingham, completing her training in 1903. She then gained her certificate in midwifery, did private work and worked as an infant health inspector in Lancashire. An active member of the Poor Law Nursing Association, posts followed in Keighley, Halifax, York, West Hartlepool and Tynemouth before her appointment, in 1914, as Matron of the Lake Hospital, Ashton-under-Lyne. She remained there for the rest of her career until she resigned, through ill health, in 1925. She died in 1934

On the evening of Wednesday 12th May 1920 a demonstration took place in the city of Wakefield, in West Yorkshire. According to the ‘Wakefield Express,’ a large procession with banners flying, and with the city’s band at its head, marched through the streets of Wakefield to the Green Market, where a large crowd had assembled. Two lorries acted as platforms for a series of speakers. Speakers on the platform included union officials, local councillors and representatives from the Discharged Sailors’ and Soldiers’ Association. Mr GW Newsome, secretary of the Wakefield branch of the National Asylum Workers’ Union (NAWU), proposed the following motion, ‘That this mass meeting … deplores the continued employment of female labour in male wards at the West Riding Mental Hospital – work which prior to the war was performed by men.
Development of Auditing in Malaysia:Legal,Political and Historical Influences
This work investigates the role and contribution of external auditing as practised in the Malaysian society during the forty year period from independence in 1957 to just before the onset of the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997. It applies the political economic theory introduced
by Tinker (1980) and refined by Cooper & Sherer (1984), which emphasises the social
relations aspects of professional activity rather than economic forces alone. In a case study
format where qualitative data was gathered mainly from primary and secondary source
materials, the study found that the function of auditing in the Malaysian society in most cases
is devoid of any essence of mission; instead it is created, shaped and changed by the pressures
which give rise to its development over time. The largely insignificant role that it serves is
intertwined within the contexts in which it operates
Unmet Labour Demand in Europe - Chances for Immigrants?
This paper examines the chances for immigrants on the European job market. The data represents a one percent sample of the German population of the Micro census for the years 1998, 2000 and 2003 and Eurostat Labour Force Survey data. The issue addressed is how the academic and occupational level of education (participation in education), labour participation, professional status, unemployment rate, income, female labour participation and atypical occupation (structure of employment) of the foreigners differ from the native population. We find that foreigners in EU countries are more likely to be unemployed and are often in lower segments of the labour market. European comparisons of the labour market situation shows that the acknowledgment of foreign degrees, discrimination, supporting measures and the labour market policy have to be taken into account, as well as the (country-specific) human capital, language skills and the immigrants’ participation in education. Developments in Whistleblowing Research 2015
Those interested in this Ebook may like to know some of the background to its publication. In June 2009 a conference was held at Middlesex University to mark the fact that whistleblowing legislation had been in force in the UK for a decade. This event included a public lecture and attracted delegates from a range of backgrounds, including academics, legal and management practitioners, trade unionists, whistleblowers and students. At the end of the conference the decision to establish an International Whistleblowing Research Network (IWRN) was taken. People can join this network simply by consenting to their email address being put on a list and used for distribution purposes. At the time of writing, October 2015, there are over 150 members of the network. The current convenor of the network is David Lewis who can be contacted via [email protected]. Another outcome of this conference was the preparation of an edited book based on the papers presented. This was published by Edward Elgar in 2010 under the title “A global approach to public interest disclosure: what can we learn from existing whistleblowing legislation and research?”
Following the IWRN London conferences in 2011 and 2013, an Ebook (entitled “Whistleblowing and Democratic Values”) and a special issue of the E-Journal of International and Comparative Labour Studies were produced respectively. Thus this Ebook, which uses material presented at the June 2015 IWRN conference held in Sarajevo, maintains the network’s tradition of disseminating research papers. Of course, there are other important publications on the subject and the reader’s attention is drawn in particular to the “International Whistleblowing Research Handbook” published by Edward Elgar in 2014
