A Cooperative Perception System Robust to Localization Errors
Cooperative perception is challenging for safety-critical autonomous driving
applications.The errors in the shared position and pose cause an inaccurate
relative transform estimation and disrupt the robust mapping of the Ego
vehicle. We propose a distributed object-level cooperative perception system
called OptiMatch, in which the detected 3D bounding boxes and local state
information are shared between the connected vehicles. To correct the noisy
relative transform, the local measurements of both connected vehicles (bounding
boxes) are utilized, and an optimal transport theory-based algorithm is
developed to filter out those objects jointly detected by the vehicles along
with their correspondence, constructing an associated co-visible set. A
correction transform is estimated from the matched object pairs and further
applied to the noisy relative transform, followed by global fusion and dynamic
mapping. Experiment results show that robust performance is achieved for
different levels of location and heading errors, and the proposed framework
outperforms the state-of-the-art benchmark fusion schemes, including early,
late, and intermediate fusion, on average precision by a large margin when

Prediction of gait events in walking activities with a Bayesian perception system
In this paper, a robust probabilistic formulation for prediction of gait events from human walking activities using wearable sensors is presented. This approach combines the output from a Bayesian perception system with observations from actions and decisions made over time. The perception system makes decisions about the current gait events, while observations from decisions and actions allow to predict the most probable gait event during walking activities. Furthermore, our proposed method is capable to evaluate the accuracy of its predictions, which permits to obtain a better performance and trade-off between accuracy and speed. In our work, we use data from wearable inertial measurement sensors attached to the thigh, shank and foot of human participants. The proposed perception system is validated with multiple experiments for recognition and prediction of gait events using angular velocity data from three walking activities; level-ground, ramp ascent and ramp descent. The results show that our method is fast, accurate and capable to evaluate and adapt its own performance. Overall, our Bayesian perception system demonstrates to be a suitable high-level method for the development of reliable and intelligent assistive and rehabilitation robots
Visual perception system and method for a humanoid robot
A robotic system includes a humanoid robot with robotic joints each moveable using an actuator(s), and a distributed controller for controlling the movement of each of the robotic joints. The controller includes a visual perception module (VPM) for visually identifying and tracking an object in the field of view of the robot under threshold lighting conditions. The VPM includes optical devices for collecting an image of the object, a positional extraction device, and a host machine having an algorithm for processing the image and positional information. The algorithm visually identifies and tracks the object, and automatically adapts an exposure time of the optical devices to prevent feature data loss of the image under the threshold lighting conditions. A method of identifying and tracking the object includes collecting the image, extracting positional information of the object, and automatically adapting the exposure time to thereby prevent feature data loss of the image
The perception system of brain, writing and clustering strategy
Yazma süreci ve beynin algılama süreci arasında bir ilgileşim olduğu ve pek çok bilişsel stratejinin beynin algılayışı ile benzerlikler gösterdiği ortaya konmuştur .Bu stratejilerden biri olan kümeleme stratejisi ile beynin algılama süreci arasında ilgileşim olduğu saptanmıştır. Bir yazma stratejisi olan kümeleme ile beynin işleyişi arasındaki bu ilgileşim yazma süreçlerini de etkilemektedir. Bu çalışmada, kümeleme stratejisinin yazma ve beynin algılama süreçleri ile olan ilişkisi irdelenmiştir.Studies revealed that writing process and brain comprehension system and cognitive strategies have similarities. Deep Object-Centric Representations for Generalizable Robot Learning
Robotic manipulation in complex open-world scenarios requires both reliable
physical manipulation skills and effective and generalizable perception. In
this paper, we propose a method where general purpose pretrained visual models
serve as an object-centric prior for the perception system of a learned policy.
We devise an object-level attentional mechanism that can be used to determine
relevant objects from a few trajectories or demonstrations, and then
immediately incorporate those objects into a learned policy. A task-independent
meta-attention locates possible objects in the scene, and a task-specific
attention identifies which objects are predictive of the trajectories. The
scope of the task-specific attention is easily adjusted by showing
demonstrations with distractor objects or with diverse relevant objects. Our
results indicate that this approach exhibits good generalization across object
instances using very few samples, and can be used to learn a variety of
manipulation tasks using reinforcement learning
