Resilient Learning-Based Control for Synchronization of Passive Multi-Agent Systems under Attack
In this paper, we show synchronization for a group of output passive agents
that communicate with each other according to an underlying communication graph
to achieve a common goal. We propose a distributed event-triggered control
framework that will guarantee synchronization and considerably decrease the
required communication load on the band-limited network. We define a general
Byzantine attack on the event-triggered multi-agent network system and
characterize its negative effects on synchronization. The Byzantine agents are
capable of intelligently falsifying their data and manipulating the underlying
communication graph by altering their respective control feedback weights. We
introduce a decentralized detection framework and analyze its steady-state and
transient performances. We propose a way of identifying individual Byzantine
neighbors and a learning-based method of estimating the attack parameters.
Lastly, we propose learning-based control approaches to mitigate the negative
effects of the adversarial attack
Energy Conservative Limit Cycle Oscillations
This paper shows how globally attractive limit cycle oscillations can be induced in a system with a nonlinear feedback element. Based on the same principle as the Van der Pol oscillator, the feedback behaves as a negative damping for low velocities but as an ordinary damper for high velocities. This nonlinear damper can be physically implemented with a continuous variable transmission and a spring, storing energy in the spring when the damping is positive and reusing it when the damping is negative. The resulting mechanism has a natural limit cycle oscillation that is energy conservative and can be used for the development of robust, dynamic walking robots
On Stability of a Distributed Averaging PI Frequency and Active Power Controlled Differential-Algebraic Power System Model
We consider the problems of stability, frequency restoration and optimal steady-state resource allocation in a heterogeneous and structure-preserving differential-algebraic equation (DAE) power system model. Thereby, we include constant-power-controlled loads (CPCLs) and constant-power-controlled sources (CPCSs) explicitly in the analysis and network control design. This results in a power system model with mixed algebraic as well as first- and second-order differential dynamics. We show that the abovementioned control objectives can be achieved via a distributed averaging proportional integral (DAPI) control and, in particular, extend the stability proof in [1] to the resulting closed-loop DAE system
3-Phase Rectifier System with very demanding dynamic load: Architecture analysis and control strategy
A distributed power architecture for aerospace application with very restrictive specifications is analyzed. Parameters as volume, weight and losses are analyzed for the considered power architectures. In order to protect the 3 phase generator against high load steps, an intermediate bus (based in a high capacitance) to provide energy to the loads during the high load steps is included.
Prototypes of the selected architecture for the rectifier and EMI filter are built and the energy control is validated
