The paper comprises an overview of recent international and national efforts and activities directed towards the improvement of tide gauge network on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea. A brief overview of the available measuring techniques is given first. Then the characteristics of Adriatic sea level are outlined, followed by a note on the history of sea level measurements and research in the Adriatic. The present sea level related activities are introduced by the institutional structure in Croatia, followed by a summary of recent projects and programmes (European Sea Level Service ā€“ Research Infrastructure (ESEAS-RI), Mediterranean Global Observing Sea Level System (MedGLOSS), Project Adriatic and Adriatic Tides and Sea Level On-line). Concrete activities on the upgrade of Croatian tide gauges, data acquisition and maintenance, and on-line data presentation are presented in detail. In addition, the initiation of measurements of vertical land movements is documented, as a Continuous GPS antenna and receiver (CGPS) has been installed in 2004 at the roof of the Split Harbour tide gauge. A lot of effort has been put into the rescue of historical sea level records, both by digitising and scanning of the charts, which will prevent data loss in case of their ruination or disappearance. Finally, the impact of the recent activities on the scientific exploration of high-frequency resonant coupling of air pressure disturbances with the eastern Adriatic waters is highlighted in the paper, as such research is not possible to carry out properly with the measuring systems based on the analog records.Rad sadrži pregled novijih međunarodnih i domaćih aktivnosti usmjerenih prema poboljÅ”anju mareografske mreže na istočnoj obali Jadranskog mora. Najprije su prikazani dostupni mjerni sustavi. Zatim su ukratko prikazana svojstva razine Jadranskog mora, te povijesni razvoj mareografije i istraživanja kolebanja razine mora. SadaÅ”nje aktivnosti u tim istraživanjima prikazane u ovom radu obuhvaćaju institucinalnu strukturu u Republici Hrvatskoj, te pregled novijih projekata i programa (Europska mareografska mreža ā€“ istraživačka infrastruktura (ESEAS-RI), Mediteranska implementacija Globalnog sustava za pra}enje razine mora (MedGLOSS), Morske mijene i razina Jadrana on-line, Projekt Jadran). Prilično truda je uloženo u spaÅ”avanje povijesnih mareografskih zapisa, koristeći digitalizaciju i skeniranje zapisa, Å”to će spriječiti trajan gubitak podataka u slučaju uniÅ”tenja originalnih zapisa.

Developing Serbian 3D Cadastre System - Challenges and Directions

The real estate cadastre in the Republic of Serbia is based on 2D cadastral maps and procedures that do not support unequivocal registration and visualization of complex 3D property situations or complex objects located on/below several parcels, especially in urban areas. Within this study, we analyzed and documented specific situations concerning registration challenges for the current cadastral system in the Republic of Serbia.Furthermore, the analysis of additional functionalities which will enable overcoming the limitations of the current cadastre in the short to the medium-termtime period is represented. Themain objective is to use the current cadastral data and procedures as far as possible in order to keep the transition smoother and economicallyfeasible. Having in mindthis objective, thevariation ofthe hybridapproach as the solution for Serbian 3D real estate cadastrewas analyzed. One of the preliminary assumptions of this research is that it is possible to develop a systemthat is simple enoughforimplementationand maintenance, but at the same comprehensive enough to overcome the difficulties ofthe current real estate cadastre.Within the case study,3D objects based ondata currently provided by licensed surveying agenciesare presented

    Geodetic infrastructure of Serbia

Geodetic reference systems and their realization at the territory of Serbia have been created and maintained since the end of 19th century. Until mid-80s a series of reference geodetic networks were established: trigonometric networks in four orders, two levelling networks of high accuracybut also a series of gravimetric networks. In the following period of 20 years, there were not any organized worksaiming to maintenance of existing networks and creating new ones. In 1996, works started again on developing a new geodetic infrastructure in the form of realizing: a passive geodetic network, a network of permanent stations (AGROS ā€“ the active geodetic reference network of Serbia) as well as basic gravimetric networks. In this paperwork, a short review of works aiming to establish and use said networks is given but also a series of suggestions for a future development of geodetic infrastructure of Serbia

Urban Cadastral Situation in Ecuador: Analysis to Determine the Degree of Proximity of the Cadastral Systems to the 3D Cadastral Model

As 3D cadastres offer advantages in several areas by providing information with greater accuracy and a high level of detail, a diagnosis of the cadastral situation is required prior to the implementation of a 3D cadastral model. Therefore, this study focuses on diagnosing the urban cadastral situation in Ecuador based on an analysis of eight cantonal decentralized autonomous governments that were selected primarily for the availability of their cadastral information. The twelve characteristics included in the analysis supported the definition of a cadastral development scale based on the fulfillment of each characteristic. The official cadastral databases, meetings, and interviews with personnel related to the cadastres were used in the analysis to gain in-depth knowledge of the situation in each canton. The findings demonstrated that most cantons had similar characteristics and are at an intermediate level of cadastral development. Therefore, there is the need for cantons to have standardized cadastral information in accordance with national and international regulations. Thus, in this research, we developed an initial Ecuadorian land administration domain model country profile to initiate the transition towards 3D cadastre

Geophysical methods are non-destructive methods that have numerous advantages in relation to conventional geotechnical survey, primarily from the aspect of saving time and economic resources. They are used in underground engineering for determining geological-structural and physical-mechanical characteristics of subsoil. Determining the physical-mechanical characteristics most often involves determining the stiffness of subsoil and rock mass at small strains. An overview of geophysical methods significant in engineering practice is given including examples of successful implementation of geophysical methods in Croatia. Geophysical methods are used in combination with boreholes works, as preliminary phase of surveys for a more complete image of underground and better possibilities of interpretation of geological structures
