Risk Management in the Arctic Offshore: Wicked Problems Require New Paradigms
Recent project-management literature and high-profile disastersâthe financial crisis, the BP
Deepwater Horizon oil spill, and the Fukushima nuclear accidentâillustrate the flaws of
traditional risk models for complex projects. This research examines how various groups with
interests in the Arctic offshore define risks. The findings link the wicked problem framework and
the emerging paradigm of Project Management of the Second Order (PM-2). Wicked problems
are problems that are unstructured, complex, irregular, interactive, adaptive, and novel. The
authors synthesize literature on the topic to offer strategies for navigating wicked problems,
provide new variables to deconstruct traditional risk models, and integrate objective and
subjective schools of risk analysis
The necessities for building a model to evaluate Business Intelligence projects- Literature Review
In recent years Business Intelligence (BI) systems have consistently been
rated as one of the highest priorities of Information Systems (IS) and business
leaders. BI allows firms to apply information for supporting their processes
and decisions by combining its capabilities in both of organizational and
technical issues. Many of companies are being spent a significant portion of
its IT budgets on business intelligence and related technology. Evaluation of
BI readiness is vital because it serves two important goals. First, it shows
gaps areas where company is not ready to proceed with its BI efforts. By
identifying BI readiness gaps, we can avoid wasting time and resources. Second,
the evaluation guides us what we need to close the gaps and implement BI with a
high probability of success. This paper proposes to present an overview of BI

Applied Evaluative Informetrics: Part 1
This manuscript is a preprint version of Part 1 (General Introduction and
Synopsis) of the book Applied Evaluative Informetrics, to be published by
Springer in the summer of 2017. This book presents an introduction to the field
of applied evaluative informetrics, and is written for interested scholars and
students from all domains of science and scholarship. It sketches the field's
history, recent achievements, and its potential and limits. It explains the
notion of multi-dimensional research performance, and discusses the pros and
cons of 28 citation-, patent-, reputation- and altmetrics-based indicators. In
addition, it presents quantitative research assessment as an evaluation
science, and focuses on the role of extra-informetric factors in the
development of indicators, and on the policy context of their application. It
also discusses the way forward, both for users and for developers of

Towards a better understanding of the e-health user: comparing USE IT and Requirements study for an Electronic Patient Record.
This paper compares a traditional requirements study with 22 interviews for the design of an electronic patient record (EPR) and a USE IT analysis with 17 interviews trying to understand the end- user of an EPR. Developing, implementing and using information technology in organizations is a complex social activity. It is often characterized by ill-defined problems or vague goals, conflicts and disruptions that result from organizational change. Successfully implementing information systems in healthcare organizations appears to be a difficult task. Information Technology is regarded as an enabler of change in healthcare organizations but (information) technology adoption decisions in healthcare are complex, because of the uncertainty of benefits and the rate of change of technology. (Job) Relevance is recognized as an important determinant for IS success but still does not find its way into a systems design process
The evolution of retail banking services in United Kingdom: a retrospective analysis
The purpose of this paper is to assess the sequence of technological changes occurred in the retail banking sector of the United Kingdom against the emergence of customer services by developing an evolutionary argument. The historical paradigm of Information Technology provides useful insights into the âlearning opportunitiesâ that opened the way to endogenous changes in the banking activity such as the reconfiguration of its organizational structure and the diversification of the product line. The central idea of this paper is that innovation never occurs without simultaneous structural change. Thus, a defining property of the banking activity is the diachronic adaptation of formal and informal practices to an evolving technological dimension reflecting the extent to which the diffusion of innovation (re)generates variety of micro level processes and induces industry evolution.Information Technology; Retail Banking; History of Technology; Innovation Systems.
