The adoption of Open Educational Resources (OER) has been continuously growing and with it the need to addressing the diversity of students’ learning needs. Because of that, OER should meet with characteristics such as the web accessibility and quality. Thus, teachers as the creators of OER need supporting tools and specialized competences. The main contribution of this thesis is a Learning Analytics Model to Trace the Creation and Evaluation of OER (LAMTCE) considering web accessibility and quality. LAMTCE also includes a user model of the teacher’s competences in the creation and evaluation of OER. Besides that, we developed ATCE, a learning analytics tool based on the LAMTCE model. Finally, it was carried out an evaluation conducted with teachers involving the use of the tool and we found that the tool really benefited teachers in the acquisition of their competences in creation and evaluation of accessible and quality OER.La adopción de Recursos Educativos Abiertos (REA) ha ido en aumento y con ello la necesidad de abordar la diversidad de necesidades de aprendizaje de los estudiantes.

    Ubiquitous Technology for Lifelong Learners

Nowadays, most people change their career throughout their lives, many times independently on what they learned during their formal education period. Therefore, the necessity to continually keep our skills sharp and up-to-date becomes increasingly important in a rapidly changing job market. The European Commission stressed the importance of lifelong learning as a key challenge for the knowledge society to adapt to the pace in which digital technology is transforming every aspect of people’s lives. Later on, the Commission published a reference framework comprising eight competences to flexibly adapt to a rapidly changing and highly interconnected world. In this thesis, we aim at supporting learners to understand the way they can better learn in-context using technology, therefore we focus on two specific competences, namely, learning to learn and digital competence

Conference Theme: To see the world and a grain of sand: Learning across levels of space, time, and scaleIn Peru, there is a large achievement gap in rural schools. In order to overcome this problem, the study aims to design environments that enhance science learning through the integration of ICT with cultural artifacts, respecting the Andean culture and empower rural children to pursue lifelong learning. This investigation employs the Cultural-Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) framework, and the Design-Based Research (DBR) methodology using an iterative process of design, implementation and evaluation of the innovative practice.published_or_final_versio

Learning objects and open contents have been named in the Horizon reports from 2004 and 2010 respectively, predicting to have an impact in the short term due to the current trend of offering open content for free on the Web. OER repositories should adapt their features so their contents can be accessed from mobile devices. This paper summarizes recent trends in the creation, publication, discovery, acquisition, access, use and re-use of learning objects on mobile devices based on a literature review on research done from 2007 to 2012. From the content providers side, we present the results obtained from a survey performed on 23 educational repository owners prompting them to an- swer about their current and expected support on mobile devices. From the content user side, we identify features provided by the main OER repositories. Finally, we intro- duce future trends and our next contribution

Open access to mobile assisted language learning supported by the Mobile2Learn framework

Over the past years, a wide range of Technology-enhanced Learning (TeL) systems have been developed, which have significantly influenced the field of foreign languages teaching and learning. This is widely known as Technology-enhanced Language Learning (TELL). On the other hand, the widespread ownership of mobile devices and the potential benefits that they can provide to the learning process has attracted the attention of both researchers and practitioners in the field of TELL. This has led to the development of a new approach for TELL, which is commonly referred to as Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL). Nevertheless, although during the last years a number of MALL systems have been developed, most of them do not concern with open access to language learning resources and practices. As a result, neither re-use of language learning resources not sharing of best technology-facilitated language teaching practices among the communities of educational practitioners and educational organizations is directly facilitated. In this paper, we propose the Mobile2Learn Framework, which aims at providing tools and services that facilitate open access to mobile-assisted language digital learning resources and courses, and we present a case study from its implementation. © 2012 IEEE
