Inter-organizational Information Systems: From Strategic Systems to Information Infrastructures

This paper reports on a series of panels and workshops held at the Bled eConference since 2004. It aims at reconstructing the developing understanding of Inter-organizational Information Systems (IOIS) over the years as evidenced by these workshops, which have been designed to provide a forum to discuss emerging topics, fields, and strategies for IOIS research on a network and industry level. This paper provides an overview of the workshops and a detailed coverage of the last one in order to give a thorough and vivid account of its contributions. The paper not only takes a historical lens in documenting the workshops but also in discussing the transformation from strategic systems to information infrastructures. It reflects the enabling role of the Bled eConference for workshops series and the workshops’ contribution to the Bled conference

Development Of E-Supply Chain Collaboration Strategy In The Chinese Automotive Industry: A Theoretical Collaboration Framework

The research intends to investigate into the e-supply chain practices of the Chinese automotive industry. The analysis of the theoretical review has been carried out by using one of the qualitative research techniques, grounded theory, to understand and evaluate all of the relevant influencing factors of the collaboration strategy development. It will begin by looking at how e-business and information technology have influenced supply chain management in the automotive industry in China; what factors have affected the organisations through integrating with the e-supply chain strategy; and what requirements that organisations have to improve the efficiency of the supply chain strategies in order to gain global market advantage. Therefore, the main purpose of this research is to develop a theoretical collaboration framework for helping the Chinese automotive manufacturers to effectively manage their global collaboration supply network. This will further facilitate the integration of information technologies in the supply networks whilst keeping it flexible enough to develop a collaboration strategies framework to formulate the supply chain activities by helping the Chinese auto manufacturers to effectively manage their global supply chain and thus add value to both business and customer

Collaborative Governance

Collaboration has emerged as a central concept in public policy circles in Australia and a panacea to the complex challenges facing Australia. But is this really the cure-all it seems to be? In this edited collection we present scholarly and practitioner perspectives on the drivers, challenges, prospects and promise of collaboration. The papers, first presented at the 2007 ANZSOG Conference, draw on the extensive experience of the contributors in either trying to enact collaboration, or studying the processes of this phenomenon. Together the collection provides important insights into the potential of collaboration, but also the fiercely stubborn barriers to adopting more collaborative approaches to policy and implementation. The collection includes chapter from public servants, third sector managers, and both Australian and international academics which together make it a stimulating read for those working with or within government. It adds considerably to the debate about how to address current challenges of public policy and provides a significant resource for those interested in the realities of collaborative governance
