Performance Evaluation of Mobility Effects on Various Transmission Modes in the LTE Network
Long Term Evolution (LTE) system uses Internet Protocol (IP) based network architecture and advanced multi-antenna techniques to provide higher system throughput and high user mobility, intern to support low delay multimedia services such as voice, real time video connections and effective internet connectivity without any disruption. Hence in this paper, an attempt has been made to analyze the impact of mobility on the Quality of Service (QoS) parameters such as average throughput, average jitter and average delay of a LTE network for various transmission modes such as Serial-Input Serial-Output (SISO), Transmit Diversity, Receive Diversity and Open Loop Spatial Multiplexing (OLSM)
Joint Access-Backhaul Perspective on Mobility Management in 5G Networks
The ongoing efforts in the research development and standardization of 5G, by
both industry and academia, have resulted in the identification of enablers
(Software Defined Networks, Network Function Virtualization, Distributed
Mobility Management, etc.) and critical areas (Mobility management,
Interference management, Joint access-backhaul mechanisms, etc.) that will help
achieve the 5G objectives. During these efforts, it has also been identified
that the 5G networks due to their high degree of heterogeneity, high QoS demand
and the inevitable density (both in terms of access points and users), will
need to have efficient joint backhaul and access mechanisms as well as enhanced
mobility management mechanisms in order to be effective, efficient and
ubiquitous. Therefore, in this paper we first provide a discussion on the
evolution of the backhaul scenario, and the necessity for joint access and
backhaul optimization. Subsequently, and since mobility management mechanisms
can entail the availability, reliability and heterogeneity of the future
backhaul/fronthaul networks as parameters in determining the most optimal
solution for a given context, a study with regards to the effect of future
backhaul/fronthaul scenarios on the design and implementation of mobility

Prototyping the recursive internet architecture: the IRATI project approach
In recent years, many new Internet architectures are being proposed to solve shortcomings in the current Internet. A lot of these new architectures merely extend the current TCP/IP architecture and hence do not solve the fundamental cause of these problems. The Recursive Internet Architecture (RINA) is a true new network architecture, developed from scratch, building on lessons learned in the past. RINA prototyping efforts have been ongoing since 2010, but a prototype on which a commercial RINA implementation can be built has not been developed yet. The goal of the IRATI research project is to develop and evaluate such a prototype in Linux/OS. This article focuses on the software design required to implement a network stack in Linux/OS. We motivate the placement of, and communication between, the different software components in either the kernel or user space. The first open source prototype of the IRATI implementation of RINA will be available in June 2014 for researchers, developers, and early adopters
