Advancements in Image Classification using Convolutional Neural Network
Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is the state-of-the-art for image
classification task. Here we have briefly discussed different components of
CNN. In this paper, We have explained different CNN architectures for image
classification. Through this paper, we have shown advancements in CNN from
LeNet-5 to latest SENet model. We have discussed the model description and
training details of each model. We have also drawn a comparison among those

Study and Observation of the Variations of Accuracies for Handwritten Digits Recognition with Various Hidden Layers and Epochs using Neural Network Algorithm
In recent days, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) can be applied to a vast
majority of fields including business, medicine, engineering, etc. The most
popular areas where ANN is employed nowadays are pattern and sequence
recognition, novelty detection, character recognition, regression analysis,
speech recognition, image compression, stock market prediction, Electronic
nose, security, loan applications, data processing, robotics, and control. The
benefits associated with its broad applications leads to increasing popularity
of ANN in the era of 21st Century. ANN confers many benefits such as organic
learning, nonlinear data processing, fault tolerance, and self-repairing
compared to other conventional approaches. The primary objective of this paper
is to analyze the influence of the hidden layers of a neural network over the
overall performance of the network. To demonstrate this influence, we applied
neural network with different layers on the MNIST dataset. Also, another goal
is to observe the variations of accuracies of ANN for different numbers of

From Data Topology to a Modular Classifier
This article describes an approach to designing a distributed and modular
neural classifier. This approach introduces a new hierarchical clustering that
enables one to determine reliable regions in the representation space by
exploiting supervised information. A multilayer perceptron is then associated
with each of these detected clusters and charged with recognizing elements of
the associated cluster while rejecting all others. The obtained global
classifier is comprised of a set of cooperating neural networks and completed
by a K-nearest neighbor classifier charged with treating elements rejected by
all the neural networks. Experimental results for the handwritten digit
recognition problem and comparison with neural and statistical nonmodular
classifiers are given
Learning Spatial-Semantic Context with Fully Convolutional Recurrent Network for Online Handwritten Chinese Text Recognition
Online handwritten Chinese text recognition (OHCTR) is a challenging problem
as it involves a large-scale character set, ambiguous segmentation, and
variable-length input sequences. In this paper, we exploit the outstanding
capability of path signature to translate online pen-tip trajectories into
informative signature feature maps using a sliding window-based method,
successfully capturing the analytic and geometric properties of pen strokes
with strong local invariance and robustness. A multi-spatial-context fully
convolutional recurrent network (MCFCRN) is proposed to exploit the multiple
spatial contexts from the signature feature maps and generate a prediction
sequence while completely avoiding the difficult segmentation problem.
Furthermore, an implicit language model is developed to make predictions based
on semantic context within a predicting feature sequence, providing a new
perspective for incorporating lexicon constraints and prior knowledge about a
certain language in the recognition procedure. Experiments on two standard
benchmarks, Dataset-CASIA and Dataset-ICDAR, yielded outstanding results, with
correct rates of 97.10% and 97.15%, respectively, which are significantly
better than the best result reported thus far in the literature.Comment: 14 pages, 9 figure
