    A coupled evaluation and optimization approach to drive product variety towards sustainability

    Increasing customer demands for highly personalized and environmentally friendly products urge companies to find new ways for managing their production systems. The aim is to cope with diversity of items while delivering profitable products with lower environmental impact. This paper proposes a coupled evaluation and optimization approach to steer product variety towards environmental and economic sustainability. A predefined set of indicators enriched with weights given by the user ensures the evaluation, while optimization uses linear programming. The paper highlights the impact of variety steering on environmental and economic sustainability indicators. Additionally, the paper underlines the need to translate regulations into concrete company goals through integrating carbon markets into the proposed model. A thorough literature review on supply chain transportation research is conducted to address these disruptions from a transportation perspective. The objective is to present recent research on various aspects of the transportation problems, address the gap considering disruptions and propose a framework that outlines the factors that may cause transportation disruptions, their relationships, the types of impacts they have, and how they depend on one another

    A hybrid multi-objective approach to capacitated facility location with flexible store allocation for green logistics modeling

    We propose an efficient evolutionary multi-objective optimization approach to the capacitated facility location–allocation problem (CFLP) for solving large instances that considers flexibility at the allocation level, where financial costs and CO2 emissions are considered simultaneously. Our approach utilizes suitably adapted Lagrangian Relaxation models for dealing with costs and CO2 emissions at the allocation level, within a multi-objective evolutionary framework at the location level. Thus our method assesses the robustness of each location solution with respect to our two objectives for customer allocation. We extend our exploration of selected solutions by considering a range of trade-offs for customer allocation

    What is the best set of facility location decisions for the establishment of a logistics network when it is uncertain how a company’s distribution strategy will evolve? What is the best configuration of a distribution network that will most likely have to be altered in the future? Today’s business environment is turbulent, and operating conditions for firms can take a turn for the worse at any moment. This fact can and often does influence companies to occasionally expand or contract their distribution networks. For most companies operating in this chaotic business environment, there is a continuous struggle between staying cost efficient and supplying adequate service. Establishing a distribution network which is flexible or easily adaptable is the key to survival under these conditions. This research begins to address the problem of locating facilities in a logistics network in the face of an evolving strategic focus through the implicit consideration of the uncertainty of parameters. The trade-off of cost and customer service is thoroughly examined in a series of multi-criteria location problems. Modeling techniques for incorporating service restrictions for facility location in strategic network design are investigated. A flexibility metric is derived for the purposes of quantifying the similarity of a set of non-dominated solutions in strategic network design. Finally, a multi-objective greedy random adaptive search (MOG) metaheuristic is applied to solve a series of bi-criteria, multi-level facility location problems

    A influência do nível de serviço logístico na satisfação do cliente: um estudo em montadora do setor automobilístico

    Dissertação apresentada ao Programa de Pós-graduação em Administração - Mestrado da Universidade Municipal de São Caetano do Sul.O aumento de 155% nas vendas de veículos de passeio e comerciais leves entre os anos 2000 e 2013 e a diversificação de modelos e serviços neste setor, tem levado o consumidor brasileiro a escolhas cada vez mais criteriosas. Nesse sentido o objetivo central desta pesquisa foi analisar a influência do Nível de Serviço Logístico de uma montadora de veículos localizada no Estado de São Paulo e de sua rede de concessionárias, na satisfação dos seus clientes da Região Sudeste do Brasil. Desta forma recorreu-se ao arcabouço teórico nas quais foram explorados os constructos do Nível de Serviço Logístico e da Satisfação do Cliente, bem como suas relações, seus elementos, os métodos de mensuração destes constructos e a sua representatividade nos contextos da Logística Integrada, Supply Chain Management e o Marketing. Adotou-se a pesquisa exploratória, desenvolvida a partir de um estudo de caso, com abordagens qualitativas e quantitativas. A abordagem qualitativa, a partir das entrevistas com os responsáveis das áreas de Logística e Marketing e a análise documental no período de Julho à Outubro de 2013, permitiu a identificação das principais atividades logísticas que mantinham uma relação com a satisfação dos clientes, bem como permitiu a comparação e a constatação de uma relação intrínseca com três itens do questionário da pesquisa de Satisfação do Cliente aplicado pela montadora. Desta forma foi possível operacionalizar o constructo do Nível de Serviço Logístico e estabelecer teoricamente as relações entre este, a Qualidade em Serviços e a Satisfação do Cliente, que foram testados sob a ótica determinista com a adoção da modelagem de equações estruturais pelo método de estimação dos mínimos quadrados parciais. A abordagem quantitativa permitiu concluir que o Nível de Serviço Logístico da rede influenciava direta e positivamente a Satisfação dos Clientes, porém com um efeito muito menor (0,356) se comparado com o efeito deste na Qualidade em Serviços (0,746). Não obstante, o Nível de Serviço Logístico pode causar uma variação indireta na Satisfação do Cliente de 0,349, mediada pela Qualidade em Serviço, que somada à variação direta (0,356) representa um efeito total na Satisfação do Cliente de 0,705. Sugere-se que estudos futuros repliquem e aprimorem o modelo delineado nesta pesquisa que contribui para o estado da arte de futuras pesquisas nas áreas de Logística e de Marketing
