On the incorporation of interval-valued fuzzy sets into the Bousi-Prolog system: declarative semantics, implementation and applications
In this paper we analyse the benefits of incorporating interval-valued fuzzy
sets into the Bousi-Prolog system. A syntax, declarative semantics and im-
plementation for this extension is presented and formalised. We show, by using
potential applications, that fuzzy logic programming frameworks enhanced with
them can correctly work together with lexical resources and ontologies in order
to improve their capabilities for knowledge representation and reasoning

Introducing new constructs for data modelling and column generation in LP modelling languages
Through popular implementation of structured query language (SQL) and query-by-example(QBE) relational databases have become the de-facto industry standard for data modelling.We consider the indices, sets, and the declarative form of Linear Programming (LP) modelling languages and introduce new constructs which provide direct link to the database systems. The models constructed in this way are data driven and display a dynamicstructure. We then show how this approach can be naturally extended to include column generation features stated in procedural forms within an otherwise declarative modelling paradigm
Changing a semantics: opportunism or courage?
The generalized models for higher-order logics introduced by Leon Henkin, and
their multiple offspring over the years, have become a standard tool in many
areas of logic. Even so, discussion has persisted about their technical status,
and perhaps even their conceptual legitimacy. This paper gives a systematic
view of generalized model techniques, discusses what they mean in mathematical
and philosophical terms, and presents a few technical themes and results about
their role in algebraic representation, calibrating provability, lowering
complexity, understanding fixed-point logics, and achieving set-theoretic
absoluteness. We also show how thinking about Henkin's approach to semantics of
logical systems in this generality can yield new results, dispelling the
impression of adhocness. This paper is dedicated to Leon Henkin, a deep
logician who has changed the way we all work, while also being an always open,

Strategic Port Graph Rewriting: An Interactive Modelling and Analysis Framework
We present strategic portgraph rewriting as a basis for the implementation of
visual modelling and analysis tools. The goal is to facilitate the
specification, analysis and simulation of complex systems, using port graphs. A
system is represented by an initial graph and a collection of graph rewriting
rules, together with a user-defined strategy to control the application of
rules. The strategy language includes constructs to deal with graph traversal
and management of rewriting positions in the graph. We give a small-step
operational semantics for the language, and describe its implementation in the

Footprints in Local Reasoning
Local reasoning about programs exploits the natural local behaviour common in
programs by focussing on the footprint - that part of the resource accessed by
the program. We address the problem of formally characterising and analysing
the footprint notion for abstract local functions introduced by Calcagno, O
Hearn and Yang. With our definition, we prove that the footprints are the only
essential elements required for a complete specification of a local function.
We formalise the notion of small specifications in local reasoning and show
that for well-founded resource models, a smallest specification always exists
that only includes the footprints, and also present results for the
non-well-founded case. Finally, we use this theory of footprints to investigate
the conditions under which the footprints correspond to the smallest safe
states. We present a new model of RAM in which, unlike the standard model, the
footprints of every program correspond to the smallest safe states, and we also
identify a general condition on the primitive commands of a programming

Ontology-based modelling of architectural styles
The conceptual modelling of software architectures is of central importance for the quality of a software system. A rich modelling language is required to integrate the different aspects of architecture modelling, such as architectural styles, structural and behavioural modelling, into a coherent framework. Architectural styles are often neglected in software architectures. We propose an ontological approach for architectural style modelling based on description logic as an abstract, meta-level modelling instrument. We introduce a framework for style definition and style combination. The application of the
ontological framework in the form of an integration into existing architectural description notations is illustrated
Spanish generation from Spanish Sign Language using a phrase-based translation system
This paper describes the development of a Spoken Spanish generator from Spanish Sign Language (LSE – Lengua de Signos Española) in a specific domain: the renewal of Identity Document and Driver’s license. The system is composed of three modules. The first one is an interface where a deaf person can specify a sign sequence in sign-writing. The second one is a language translator for converting the sign sequence into a word sequence. Finally, the last module is a text to speech converter. Also, the paper describes the generation of a parallel corpus for the system development composed of more than 4,000 Spanish sentences and their LSE translations in the application domain. The paper is focused on the translation module that uses a statistical strategy with a phrase-based translation model, and this paper analyses the effect of the alignment configuration used during the process of word based translation model generation. Finally, the best configuration gives a 3.90% mWER and a 0.9645 BLEU
