Migration control for mobile agents based on passport and visa

    Get PDF
Research on mobile agents has attracted much attention as this paradigm has demonstrated great potential for the next-generation e-commerce. Proper solutions to security-related problems become key factors in the successful deployment of mobile agents in e-commerce systems. We propose the use of passport and visa (P/V) for securing mobile agent migration across communities based on the SAFER e-commerce framework. P/V not only serves as up-to-date digital credentials for agent-host authentication, but also provides effective security mechanisms for online communities to control mobile agent migration. Protection for mobile agents, network hosts, and online communities is enhanced using P/V. We discuss the design issues in details and evaluate the implementation of the proposed system

Business-to-consumer mobile agent-based internet commerce system (MAGICS)

We present MAGICS, a mobile agent-based system for supporting business-to-consumer electronic commerce (e-commerce) or mobile commerce (m-commerce) applications. To use the system, consumers first provide their buying requirements to a proxy/agent server through a Web browser or a wireless application protocol (WAP) terminal. Having obtained the requirements, mobile agents are generated to carry out tasks for the consumers including getting offers from merchants, evaluating offers, and even completing purchases. In the case of mobile commerce, consumers can generate a mobile agent to conduct a search and evaluation in the digital marketspace before making a purchase in the physical marketplace. To make it possible to choose an offer that best satisfies the consumer's requirement(s), we present a mathematical model for evaluating multiple decision factors. To test the basic functions of the mobile agent-based Internet commerce system (MAGICS), we have built a prototype system. To minimize the average cost of a product (including the cost of sending agents), we have also developed an analytical model that can determine how many agents should be sent to compare prices. Four different price distributions and some real price information are analyzed based on the model. The analysis provides valuable insights into the design of mobile agent-based shopping applications for m-commerce, in particular, and for e-commerce, in general. © 2007 IEEE

    Secure agent data integrity shield

In the rapidly expanding field of E-Commerce, mobile agent is the emerging technology that addresses the requirement of intelligent filtering/processing of information. This paper will address the area of mobile agent data integrity protection. We propose the use of Secure Agent Data Integrity Shield (SADIS) as a scheme that protects the integrity of data collected during agent roaming. With the use of a key seed negotiation protocol and integrity protection protocol, SADIS protects the secrecy as well as the integrity of agent data. Any illegal data modification, deletion, or insertion can be detected either by the subsequent host or the agent butler. Most important of all, the identity of each malicious host can be established. To evaluate the feasibility of our design, a prototype has been developed using Java. The result of benchmarking shows improvement both in terms of data and time efficiency

    An agent-based consumer recommendation mechanism

[[abstract]]The rapid development of Internet technologies is promoting e-commerce. Mobile agents are mobile, personalized, autonomous, and adaptive. These qualities make them useful for information-rich and communication-rich environments such as e-commerce. Online shopping market commerce sites have two main drawbacks: 1. Because of the different product data format in the database and representation, it is difficult to exchange information between two online markets. 2.Consumers must search and filter product information by browsing a lot of shopping sites and compare product prices by themselves. 3. It's hard to accumulate consumer loyalty. Therefore, the aim is to extend the e-commerce platform developed by our agent-based e-commerce research group and build an agent-bated consumer recommendation mechanism. On behalf of consumers, agents can trade on the e-commerce platform, record consumer preference and produce appropriate product recommendation information according to the consumer's preference.[[notice]]補正完畢[[conferencetype]]國際[[conferencedate]]20040329~20040331[[booktype]]紙本[[iscallforpapers]]Y[[conferencelocation]]Fukuoka, Japa

The purpose of this research is to learn architecture and process-networking system in distributed computational using mobile intelligent agent. This technology attract people in order to develop system potential on distributed system, intelligent agent, intelligent distributed and e-commerce. In network processing, this method is used to reduce the network resource needed, asynchronous execution and effectively automatic system. This network protocol is one of network resources, which determines the structure of mobile agent hierarchy in migration agent process, as transmission data need. In wireless technology based the agent is used to control mobility in communication line. Mobile intelligent agent used to solve the data communication problem such as in system boundary limitedness and the speed of processing data

Electronic negotiation and security of information exchanged in e-commerce

In settings such as electronic markets where trading partners have conflicting interests and a desire to cooperate, mobile agent mediated negotiation have become very popular. However, agent-based negotiation in electronic commerce involves the exchange of critical and sensitive data that must be highly safeguarded. Therefore, in order to give benefits of quick and safe trading to the trading partners, an approach that secures the information exchanged between the mobile agents during e-Commerce negotiations is needed. To this end, we discuss an approach that we refer to as Multi-Agent Security NEgotiation Protocol (MASNEP). To show that MASNEP protocol is free of attacks and thus the information exchanged throughout electronic negotiation is truly secured, we provide a formal proof on the correctness of the MASNEP.<br /

    Software agents and wireless E-commerce

Software agent technology will become a necessity to e-commerce (traditional or wireless) rather than luxury. We propose an agent-based environment, which we call E-Commerce through Wireless Devices (E-CWE), that allows users, stationary or mobile, to submit their requests for services offered by providers. The E-CWE environment consists of a reception platform including a repository of service descriptions. A supervisor-agent is in charge of this repository. Acting on behalf of their users, user-agents are dynamically created in this platform. In the E-CWE environment, security is achieved in two steps: securing service access and securing payment. A prototype of a Travel Planning Agent (TPA) system is proposed to evaluate the performance of the environment

[[abstract]]E-commerce and M-commerce can extend the marketing of a company or enterprise to unlimited region. Through Internet and WWW, the limitation of distance and region are broken for business behaviors. Agent technique is one of the important technologies developed to support the Internet applications. Especially, the Internet and WWW technologies broken the limitation of space, and the agent techniques solve the problems of temporality. Even if the users are off-line, the agents are still active in the world of computer network and play the roles that their users assigned. In this paper, a mechanism is proposed for E-marketplace based on agents and mobile agents. Some issues of research are discussed. They include the platform of mobile agents, the types and classifications of agents and mobile agents, behaviors of commerce transactions and processing models, negotiation mechanisms, etc. Moreover, they include the techniques of information retrieval, data mining, and knowledge base, etc. Based on the proposed mechanism of E-marketplace, the applications of E-commerce will be more effective, easier to develop, and more creating the marketing of business.[[notice]]補正完

High competitiveness and the growing popularity of e-Trading demand that the e-Commerce transactions are executed in a minimal time and cost. This paper proposes a new framework to enhance the inter-agent communication in e-Commerce transactions using the conventional mobile agents. This method performs the transactions at an e-Marketplace associated with a router, thus reducing the execution time and cost. The paper also proposes a strategy to group the agents into e-Marketplaces to improve the scalability of the solution
