    Attainable Knowledge

    The article investigates an evidence-based semantics for epistemic logics in which pieces of evidence are interpreted as equivalence relations on the epistemic worlds. It is shown that the properties of knowledge obtained from potentially infinitely many pieces of evidence are described by modal logic S5. At the same time, the properties of knowledge obtained from only a finite number of pieces of evidence are described by modal logic S4. The main technical result is a sound and complete bi-modal logical system that describes properties of these two modalities and their interplay

    Knowledge and Blameworthiness

    Blameworthiness of an agent or a coalition of agents is often defined in terms of the principle of alternative possibilities: for the coalition to be responsible for an outcome, the outcome must take place and the coalition should have had a strategy to prevent it. In this article we argue that in the settings with imperfect information, not only should the coalition have had a strategy, but it also should have known that it had a strategy, and it should have known what the strategy was. The main technical result of the article is a sound and complete bimodal logic that describes the interplay between knowledge and blameworthiness in strategic games with imperfect information

The focus of this paper is on the blameworthiness defined through the principle of alternative possibilities: a coalition is blamable for a statement if the statement is true, but the coalition had a strategy to prevent it. The main technical result is a sound and complete bimodal logical system that describes properties of blameworthiness in one-shot games

    Object-Based Unawareness

    The goal of this paper is to construct a user-friendly model of unawareness. We start from an axiom system (in first-order modal logic) that enables us to express the following kinds of sentences: “the agent is not sure whether or not there is anything that he is unaware of”, and “I am not sure whether or not you are aware of something that I am not”. We then prove a characterization theorem which describes a class of structures, called object-based unawareness structures, that correspond to this axiom system. As an application, we explain how an object-based unawareness structure can be use to model those American founding fathers who were opposed to the inclusion of the Bill of Rights in the constitution.unawareness, object-based, modal logic, bill of rights

    Some Epistemic Extensions of G\"odel Fuzzy Logic

    In this paper, we introduce some epistemic extensions of G\"odel fuzzy logic whose Kripke-based semantics have fuzzy values for both propositions and accessibility relations such that soundness and completeness hold. We adopt belief as our epistemic operator, then survey some fuzzy implications to justify our semantics for belief is appropriate. We give a fuzzy version of traditional muddy children problem and apply it to show that axioms of positive and negative introspections and Truth are not necessarily valid in our basic epistemic fuzzy models. In the sequel, we propose a derivation system KFK_F as a fuzzy version of classical epistemic logic KK. Next, we establish some other epistemic-fuzzy derivation systems BF,TF,BFn B_F, T_F, B_F^n and TFnT_F^n which are extensions of KFK_F, and prove that all of these derivation systems are sound and complete with respect to appropriate classes of Kripke-based models

    The interaction bietween knowledge and belief in a temporal context is analyzed. An axiomatic formulation and semantic characterization of the principle of belief persistency implied by the standard conditionalization rule are provided. This principle says that an individual does not change her mind unless new evidence forces her to do so. It is shown that if beliefs are conscious (or stateindependent) and satisfy negative introspection then the principle of persistency of beliefs is characterized by the following axiom schema: the individual believes that 9 at date t if and orilly if she believes at date t that she will believe that 4 at date t+l.

    Dynamic-Epistemic reasoning on distributed systems

    We propose a new logic designed for modelling and reasoning about information flow and information exchange between spatially located (but potentially mobile), interconnected agents witnessing a distributed computation. This is a major problem in the field of distributed systems, covering many different issues, with potential applications from Computer Science and Economy to Chemistry and Systems Biology. Underpinning on the dual algebraical-coalgebraical characteristics of process calculi, we design a decidable and completely axiomatizad logic that combines the processalgebraical/ equational and the modal/coequational features and is developed for process-algebraical semantics. The construction is done by mixing operators from dynamic and epistemic logics with operators from spatial logics for distributed and mobile systems.
