This research project focuses on solar electric supply chain disruption and examines the case of Continental Energy, a company specialized in the management and installation of solar PV panels. The project aims to identify and address key challenges within the supply chain to ensure smooth operations, efficient delivery of PV panels, and customer satisfaction. Through a comprehensive analysis of the supply chain network, inventory management techniques, and the implementation of appropriate supply contracts, the project proposes solutions to optimize processes and mitigate disruptions. Furthermore, the economic and environmental impacts of these proposed solutions are evaluated, considering factors such as cost savings, energy efficiency, and sustainability. The project concludes with a comprehensive assessment of the improvements implemented and their potential benefits for Continental Energy's solar electric supply chain. The findings contribute to the understanding of supply chain management strategies in the renewable energy sector and provide insights for companies aiming to enhance their operational efficiency and sustainability in a rapidly evolving industr

AMERICAS SUPPLY CHAIN: UNFORCASTED COMMERCE CHALLENGES OR LEADERSHIP FAILURE

    Get PDF
The current supply chain disruptions are affecting commerce in some manner which leads to scarcities of products and labor globally. The research will show that supply chain issues are directly related to commerce and leadership which plays an important role in our economy. Supply chain operations are defined, and the different levels of supply chain activities are explained. Possible points of failure within the system as well as probable causes leading to empty shelves and unavailable products is explained in detail. The research describes how massive labor shortages, high petroleum prices, and shortages of essential sub-components has led to this crisis. Providing possible solutions or an insight into how leadership may be able to mitigate the supply chain issues. In summary, this project identified the many issues affecting the supply chain from pre-pandemic commerce leadership failures through current government mandates that directly affect the supply chain. Is the supply chain affecting commerce globally or is it just a local issue? What can leadership do to mitigate the effects to the supply chain both now and long term

The Impact of COVID-19 on Supply Chains and E-commerce Logistics

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, supply, demand, and logistics have all been affected. Due to its unpredictable severity, the pandemic has highlighted the need to modify the existing supply chain model, the consumer structure model, and the digitization of markets. At the same time, the situation under COVID-19 offers increasing opportunities for e-commerce, including new business models and online commercial activities. This master's thesis aims to analyze how COVID-19 will affect global supply chains and e-commerce. Moreover, it will try to analyze the practices of major e-commerce platforms during the pandemic to determine whether there are opportunities for innovation and development in the future. The study will examine how retailers adapted to supply chain disruptions caused by the pandemic from a practical perspective and highlight the critical role of technology in these processes. The research provides insights into how companies are coping with long-term disruptions. The study we conducted used a qualitative approach, which included a case study and a SWOT analysis. In addition, we analyzed quantitative operational data from public financial reports released by JD.com.Our study examines the effects of a pandemic on supply chains. It also summarises the challenges faced by the retail sector and the strategies used by JD.com during the challenging period. During the pandemic, JD.com was able to handle the various aspects of its supply chain management through an integrated supply chain and intelligence platform. This study presents a supply chain resilience analysis by using actual operational data. Moreover, It suggests that companies should consider operational flexibility and collaboration outside the supply chain to adapt to significant supply chain disruptions like COVID-19

The Economics of Fuel Economy Standards

This paper discusses several rationales for the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) program, including reduced oil dependence, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and the possibility that fuel saving benefits from higher standards might exceed added vehicle costs. We then summarize what can be said about the welfare effects of tightening standards, accounting for prior fuel taxes, and perverse effects on congestion and traffic accidents through the impact of improved fuel economy on the incentive to drive. Implications of CAFE on local air pollution, and the controversy over CAFE, vehicle weight, and road safety, are also discussed. Finally, we describe ways in which the existing CAFE program could be substantially improved and identify a variety of alternative, and much superior, policy approaches.

Securing the Post-Covid Pharma Supply Chain: An Empirical Investigation

The pandemic outbreak of Covid-19 has shown the fragilities and vulnerabilities of the Pharma Supply Chain (PSC), leading academics and practitioners to rethink PSCs’ flexibility, agility, responsiveness, and resilience. This paper investigates how to secure the Post-Covid PSC by (i) classifying the challenges born of or aggravated by the pandemic; (ii) understanding how solutions enabled by Industry 4.0 technologies can be integrated into a framework to address and solve the above challenges. A theoretical framework was developed from a literature review to achieve these objectives, which was then confirmed and enriched by a multiple case study investigation
