Almost complex structures on the cotangent bundle
We construct some lift of an almost complex structure to the cotangent
bundle, using a connection on the base manifold. This generalizes the complete
lift defined by I.Sato and the horizontal lift introduced by K.Yano and
S.Ishihara. We study some geometric properties of this lift and its
compatibility with symplectic forms on the cotangent bundle.Comment: 14 page
Effect of shear heat on hydrodynamic lift of brush seals in oil sealing
Importance of hydrodynamic lift clearance has been stated in previous studies [1, 2, 3]. At those studies, derivation of closed form function for oil temperature has been performed and the shear heat dissipation effect has been successfully integrated into the lift force formulation. Oil pressure is successfully derived by tracking three different ways, all of which give very similar results to each other. All these analyses are advanced fluid mechanics and heat transfer analyses, which give consistent results with real-life applications. In this study, function of shear heating effect included in hydrodynamic lift clearance formulation. For a different pressure loads (which is a design parameter and known), change of hydrodynamic lift clearance
with rotor surface speed can be found without requiring any experimental leakage data. Furthermore, theoretic lift clearance has consistency with the experimental lift data
Investigation of ground effects on large and small scale models of a three fan V/STOL aircraft configuration
Induced lift of a subsonic, three fan, lift/cruise, V/STOL aircraft configuration was investigated using scale modes of a multimission aircraft whose design incorporates a nose mounted lift fan and two lift/cruise units located over the wing. Configuration effects were assessed for lift improvement devices, lift/cruise nozzle rails, nozzle perimeter plates, and alternate nose fan exit hubs. Tests were conducted at four model heights (H/D = 0.95, 1.53, 3.06 and 6.45, where D is the average nozzle exit diameter equal to 0.997 m.) Results are presented and discussed
Ensembles of probability estimation trees for customer churn prediction
Customer churn prediction is one of the most, important elements tents of a company's Customer Relationship Management, (CRM) strategy In tins study, two strategies are investigated to increase the lift. performance of ensemble classification models, i.e (1) using probability estimation trees (PETs) instead of standard decision trees as base classifiers; and (n) implementing alternative fusion rules based on lift weights lot the combination of ensemble member's outputs Experiments ale conducted lot font popular ensemble strategics on five real-life chin n data sets In general, the results demonstrate how lift performance can be substantially improved by using alternative base classifiers and fusion tides However: the effect vanes lot the (Idol cut ensemble strategies lit particular, the results indicate an increase of lift performance of (1) Bagging by implementing C4 4 base classifiets. (n) the Random Subspace Method (RSM) by using lift-weighted fusion rules, and (in) AdaBoost, by implementing both
A study of course deviations during cross-country soaring
Several models are developed for studying the impact of deviations from course during cross country soaring flights. Analyses are performed at the microstrategy and macrostrategy levels. Two types of lift sources are considered: concentrated thermals and thermal streets. The sensitivity of the optimum speed solutions to various model, piloting and performance parameters is evaluated. Guides are presented to provide the pilot with criterions for making in-flight decisions. In general, course deviations are warranted during weak lift conditions, but are less justifiable with moderate to strong lift conditions
