The aim of this scientific research article is to describe the satisfaction with pairs’ relationship and conflict management strategies choice correlation between technoference. Pairs’ relationship, their formation and long-term existence is influenced by different factors, however, important to prescribe their existence is both partners' satisfaction with them. Quality of the relationship depends on overall life satisfaction. Studies on satisfaction with the pairs relations have a tendency to grow, as evidenced by the number of research databases. For example, in 2015 the database APAPsychNet they are 32 studies, but by June 2016 already 20 studies of the relationship, which are studied more new aspects that are not so far been adequately studied. Studies have been conducted on the use of technology devices impact on pairs’ relationships satisfaction with the relationship (for example, Sidelinger, Avash,et.al., 2008, Coyne, et.al., 2011). Available sources is a study that analyzes satisfaction with the pairs’ relationships correlation with technoference (technical devices in use caused by disruption in the pairs mutual communication), which leads to the conclusion that in this perspective the topic has not yet been adequately studied (Coyne McDaniel, 2016). This study will be determined not only technoference correlation with the satisfaction of pairs relationship and conflict management strategies choice of partners, but will also explore what device causing the most disruption and whether there is technoference correlation with conflict management strategies

Social Network Sites in Businesses: Combating Technostress

    Get PDF
This survey research examined social networking sites (SNS) internal to the company to determine how SNS use affects attitudes, and ultimately turnover intentions. We hypothesize that due to social capital, emotional dissonance, and conservation of resource theories, work SNS use will decrease work isolation, which will decrease work-related attitudes and increase turnover intentions. Due to social capital theory, we propose that work SNS use will decrease work isolation. Due to emotional dissonance theory, we hypothesize that work isolation will decrease positive emotions and job satisfaction, and increase job tensions, such as work stress. All three of these factors will increase turnover intentions. These findings suggest that technology has the potential of reducing technostress symptoms at work. We found that incorporating internal SNS in businesses improves attitudes and behaviors, which is important for managers to consider as ways to save costs due to employee turnover

    Blackberry Addiction: Symptoms and Outcomes

    Get PDF
Pervasive information technologies, such as Blackberries, enable organizational users to interact with their working environments anytime and from anywhere. While such technologies can contribute to increased productivity, they can also drive addictive behaviors and negative consequences. An empirical study of 241 mobile email users revealed that their levels of addiction to mobile email increase their perceived work overload and technology-family conflict, work overload reduces their organizational commitment, and technology-family conflict diminishes the perceived usefulness of mobile email. Work overload together with technology-family conflict foster work-family conflict. Overall, this study distinguishes between technology-related and work-related conflict with one’s family, and validates several negative consequences of technology addiction. Implications for research and practice are offered

Understanidng Mobile Work Continuance of Chineses Knowledge Workers

    Get PDF
As more and more organizations adopt a “mobile by default” approach to information systems and work design, studying mobile work as a post-adoption phenomenon is both important and timely. Using data collected from 238 Chinese mobile workers, this study develops and validates a model of mobile work continuance. Our findings suggest that the expectation-confirmation framework provides strong theoretical support for explaining mobile work continuance, and that performance, technical support, management support, data security concerns and work life balance concerns affect knowledge workers’ mobile work continuance intention collectively

From Omnipresent Network to Constant Connectivity: The Role of Psychological Needs and Social Norms

    Get PDF
The omnipresent mobile networks, such as Wi-Fi, WLAN, and network provided by mobile operators, facilitate the whole world connected. Mobile technology users can access to the world with the networks, making them feel constant connection to others which predicts the perception of invasion. This study aims to explore the boundary condition of this relationship from two perspectives—individuals’ psychological needs and social norms. This study theorizes that psychological needs strengthen the effect of accessibility of omnipresent networks, while social norms weaken that effect. Data was collected from 223 employees with mobile technology usage in their work. The results support our justifications, and discussion and implications are also presented

Critical Stressors Affecting Work Exhaustion of IS Employees in SMEs

    Get PDF
The symptoms of stress are becoming more diversified in the IT labor market. IS employees need help in learning how to manage stress so as to reduce the strain in their work-life. The stress issue is also crucial to organizations through controlling stressors to reduce the levels of stress for maintaining better job performance. The purpose of this research is to study the effects of stressors and situational moderators on IS employees’ work exhaustion in the context of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In line with the transaction-based model of stress, this research constructs a hypothesized model for testing and verification. Through the empirical survey on the IS employees in SMEs, the results are expected to fill the knowledge gap for IS workplace stress research and to provide references to the practice and the government for managing SMEs’ e-business implementation

    Mobile Business Intelligence Usage Patterns

    Get PDF
The generation of new mobile devices and the need to make decisions ‘on the move’ led to a new technology coined as mobile business intelligence (m-BI). M-BI is different from traditional BI in terms of user profiles, level of analytics and functionalities. Although there is a growing interest from both practitioners and academics, very little is known about m-BI in general and even less on its usage. A case study research is conducted to explore how m-BI usage patterns emerge and develop. M-BI is used to investigate after a trigger, monitor real-time data, control and support liminality. Users engage with usage patterns based on the their mode (lean back or lean forward) and attention scope (narrow or wide). However, usage patterns developed are not static because m-BI users engage continuously with different usage patterns when shifting among different modes and attention scopes
