The priest Xabier Genaro Vallejo priest wrote narrative, drama and poetry, as evidenced by the brief poetic volume entitled 'Sonetos a María Inmaculada', published in 1954
Gevrey estimates for one dimensional parabolic invariant manifolds of non-hyperbolic fixed points
We study the Gevrey character of a natural parameterization of one
dimensional invariant manifolds associated to a parabolic direction of fixed
points of analytic maps, that is, a direction associated with an eigenvalue
equal to . We show that, under general hypotheses, these invariant manifolds
are Gevrey with type related to some explicit constants. We provide examples of
the optimality of our results as well as some applications to celestial
mechanics, namely, the Sitnikov problem and the restricted planar three body
problem

Optimal monotonicity-preserving perturbations of a given Runge-Kutta method
Perturbed Runge--Kutta methods (also referred to as downwind Runge--Kutta
methods) can guarantee monotonicity preservation under larger step sizes
relative to their traditional Runge--Kutta counterparts. In this paper we
study, the question of how to optimally perturb a given method in order to
increase the radius of absolute monotonicity (a.m.). We prove that for methods
with zero radius of a.m., it is always possible to give a perturbation with
positive radius. We first study methods for linear problems and then methods
for nonlinear problems. In each case, we prove upper bounds on the radius of
a.m., and provide algorithms to compute optimal perturbations. We also provide
optimal perturbations for many known methods
ELF Pedagogy in Spain and the UK
Our research project shows that exposing ELT practitioners to language change and to reflective attitudes towards language and towards new developments in ELT methodology can in return help them envisage an ELF aware pedagogical approach. Our research project has three phases: a) understanding pre-service ELT practitioners’ attitudes towards ELF and ELF Pedagogy; b) analyzing in-service ELT practitioners’ attitudes towards ELF and ELF Pedagogy; c) Observing and assessing classroom implementations of ELF-aware strategies. We are currently conducting the second stage. Educational context, teachers’ experience, and field of expertise affect the level of understanding and commitment to ELF Pedagogy. A comparison between both institutions will be presented together with data addressing the differences between the first and the second stages of the project.Universidad de Málaga. Simplifying Inductive Schemes in Temporal Logic
In propositional temporal logic, the combination of the connectives "tomorrow" and "always in the future" require the use of induction tools. In this paper, we present a classification of inductive schemes for propositional linear temporal logic that allows the detection of loops in decision procedures. In the design of automatic theorem provers, these schemes are responsible for the searching of efficient solutions for the detection and management of loops. We study which of these schemes have a good behavior in order to give a set of reduction rules that allow us to compute these schemes efficiently and, therefore, be able to eliminate these loops. These reduction laws can be applied previously and during the execution of any automatic theorem prover. All the reductions introduced in this paper can be considered a part of the process for obtaining a normal form of a given formula
An empirical study of power consumption of Web-based communications in mobile phones
Currently, mobile devices are the most popular
pervasive computing device, and they are becoming the primer way for Web access. Energy is a critical resource in such pervasive
computing devices, being network communication one of the primary energy consuming operations in mobile apps. Indeed, web-based communication is the most used, but also energy demanding. So, mobile web developers should be aware of how much energy consumes the different web-based communication alternatives. The goal of this paper is to measure and compare the
energy consumption of three asynchronous Web-based methods in mobile devices. Our experiments consider three different Web applications models that allow a web server to push data to a browser: Polling, Long Polling and WebSockets. The obtained
results are analyzed to get more accurate understanding of the impact in energy consumption of a mobile browser for each
of these three methods. The utility of these experiments is to show developers what are the factors that influence the energy consumption when different web-based asynchronous communication
is used. With this information mobile web developers
could reduce the power consumption of web applications on
mobile devices, by selecting the most appropriate method for
asynchronous server communication.MUniversidad de Málaga. Campus de Excelencia Internacional Andalucía Tech
Educational programs in Andalusia promoting linguistic skills
The Organic Law 2/2006, of 3rd of May, and the Organic Law 8/2013, of 9th December, for the Improvement of Quality in Education (LOMCE) establish the importance of reading as a quality education factor. The Andalusian Government promoted, under the Instructions of 30th of June 2013, the implementation of linguistic programs in order to encourage and support global projects based on the linguistic communication improvement (including non-linguistic subjects) focusing on reading, creativity, writing and multiple literacies.
This paper aims to present linguistic programs and projects implemented in Andalusia as a way of sharing good teaching practices. Programs are divided in two groups according to level of participation of teachers. On the one hand, the only program of level 1 is the School Language Project. It requires the participation of 50 % of teachers and it promotes the educational innovation in order to build a linguistic project that will take part in the annual plan of the centre (including all areas). It is also linked to the integrated language curriculum that tries to implement the same structure and strands for Spanish as a mother tongue and English and French as foreign languages. On the other hand, level 2 programs required the participation of 10 % of teachers of an educational centre. These are: Classic Readings, Reading Families, Literary Creativity and Communication.
Each program contains a syllabus with different activities and a collaborative space with a specialised community of teachers that are available on line (Portal de Lectura de la Junta de Andalucía). Examples of good teaching practices and projects will be shown during the paper to assess teachers of all areas and to be taken as a referee in other regions and countries.Universidad de Málaga.
